Maria's POV

I was calmer now, it had been a week since the sad occurrence that led to my banishment and I was slowly overcoming my fear of confronting the pain of betrayal. Everyone here has been so helpful and I couldn't help but admit that the only thing tough about them was just their looks. I knew it was a defense mechanism to save them from being preyed on, seeing that they were rogues in the first place.

Slowly, I had found my way in the small pack, navigating through the complex family tree of those ones that have found solace in being left out. They had obviously been staying here for a long time, they had found Roy, the five-year-old boy who was now my best friend only when he was a baby, probably a few months old.
