LILY'S POV

Present Day...

It's been two years since I left Los Angeles. I kept the Pregnancy and I could still remember when I went for a scan.

"Lily, it's a double" the doctor said.

I was happy but shattered. I can not nurture two at a time. Even one would be hard. 

Months later, I gave birth to twin as the scan revealed. I tried to manage both of them at the same time as well as try to make money to climb the top but it was not easy at all.

So I just had to drop the boy at the orphanage. It was a tough decision and I know he will hate me for it when he grow up but I still made the sacrifice.

But I had it in mind to claim or adopt him few years after which I believe I will have climbed the top of the wealth chain.

"Non, Jade, stop playing with the appliances" I collected the TV remote from her.

"You want toys?" I gave her about five toys but she threw them away and tried to jump at the remote with me and in that cause, she changed the TV station.

"This is the day Los Angeles itself has been waiting for. The only surviving son of the Andersons is getting married to the second daughter of the Smiths" I frowned and changed the TV station. "Recall that as at the beginning of this year, the Anderson organization was ranked number one in business sector and Mrs. Anderson's net worth was ranked No. 1 in Los Angeles while Mr. Thomas Anderson was ranked No. 3 in Los Angeles while the Smiths were ranked the seventh richest in L.A from eighteenth that they were last year. Do you think the Andersons are the one who helped the Smiths with this rapid rise?" An announcer on the TV said

I switched the station again. "This holy union of both families in Los Angeles, the Smiths and the Ander...." I switched off the TV as a single tear dropped from my eye but I was quick to wipe it out.

I had promised myself not to shed tears for this families.

My future was bright, my life was not so perfect but at least peaceful until I met this two families and they ruined it for me.

I will surely make them pay!

"Bonjour" I called the orphanage where I put my son in.

"C'est Lily Maxwell" I introduced

"wow, bon après-midi madame" the nun replied

"I was at your orphanage fifteen years ago. You remember me right?" The line went silent and it seems the person on the other end of the phone was going through some documents, probably to confirm why I was at the orphanage.

"Yes, fifteen years ago, you came in with a baby boy, right? The woman asked to confirm as she stated the date and month too.

"Oi" I said 

"So, I will be coming there to adopt my son today" I added.

"Um mademoiselle, He was adopted by another family ten years ago"

I was dumbfounded.

"Can I know the name of that family?" I asked.

" je suis désolé mademoiselle (I'm sorry miss) That is a confidential information. Not to ever be disclosed ma'am" 

"Please it's just a name I need. I'm sure you have it there with you. Probably even staring at it" I pleased.

"If that is all ma'am, I suggest we end the call" she said

"I will give you whatever you want. You know who I am right?" The line was silent and it was obvious she wasn't going to reply me again and she didn't want to end the call so as not to portray rudeness.

"Au revoir" I said.

"Au revoir" she replied too

So I respected myself by ending the call.

I was about to start getting depressed over the issue when the door opened.

"Hi Mom" my beautiful Jade entered with her gold and brown hair styled in French Braid and her emerald green eyes.

She flunged her bag on the chair.

"You do remember you have a laptop in that bag right?" I cautioned

"Oops! I'll just get another one if it's faulty. Mom guess what" she said moving around happily

"My programming teacher gave me and the other kid a quest. The first to hack his phone get this amazing hacking device. I was like, hack the hacker?" She laughs at her own words to make her narration interesting.

Then she continued "we weren't sure if he was just teasing but we started the hack process nonetheless. And you know what mom, I - did - it - in - less than fifteen- minutes." She laid emphasis on the last sentence

"He was shocked" she said as she laughs and made a single clap at her own success and probably remembering the expression on his face when she hacked his phone.

I employed the best Tech guy in Paris to teach Jade coding and programming because I know her knowledge in it would come in handy.

She is the best and I know it but I was not in a good mood about both my children. 

I can not get the whereabout of my son. Even with my influence and power, the lady would still not say. 'Are those who adopted him more influential than I am?' I wondered

And my daughter got into trouble with the police again. For the umpteenth time in the last two years and I just always have to settle the police and the victim with huge amount of money.

I do not even know how she started but she kinda does this beating up of people for people. She deals with oppressors for the oppressed.

Though, my guess is, she started this as a result of me telling her about her father's family and what they did to me, though, I excluded the fact that she is a twin. I kept all evidence of her being a twin. I don't want her to blame me for abandoning him.

Though it was not my fault. I was young, naïve and alone with no one. 

So listening to how I was cheated, she probably came to a conclusion to always deals with those who think they can oppress people and go Scot free but she does this in a brutal way.

She confronts them physically and beat them. If she can't handle them alone, I don't know where she gets the gang but they go with her to deal with whoever she wants to deal with.

Seeing that she explained what happened today and I didn't show the normal attitude I do show, she asked "Mom? Are you mad at me?" 

"What is this?" I showed her the picture of the victim she beat. Blood and cuts was all over the person.
