I saw a small glimmer of light off to my left and began to follow it. It was a soft, orange glow as if there were a fire off in the distance. As I got closer to the growing orange glow, the screams got louder. My heart pounded as I anticipated finding David and bringing him back out of the cave, if I could find my way out of the cave. I felt the heat coming from the orange glow and I knew it wasn’t much farther. I inched up as close to the entrance of the room as I could. There were a couple of changelings in the room so I pressed myself up closer against the limestone cave wall to avoid detection. I inched along the wall and peaked around the corner to find David chained to the wall in barbed wire. He was doubled over in pain as the changelings whipped him and kicked him over and over again while laughing. His face was so cut up and swollen, the spit running down his chin as he cried for them to stop. They just looked at him and laughed kicking harder this time. My heart started to
We found shade underneath an abnormally large maple and sat down. As we looked over to the cave, fear struck our hearts. This was really happening, no backing out now. In a few moments we would be on our feet again and in front of the entrance. I examined the opening of the cave and my eyes squinted in the sunlight as it seemed to move farther and farther away from me. Getting dizzy from the movement, I fell over on my side and closed my eyes. When I opened my eyes again, Tony and Sylvia were kneeling at each side of my head. Sylvia took her hand and placed it palm down on my forehead as if to check my temperature. She caressed the bridge of my nose with her thumb as she smiled at me. I smiled back attempting to reassure her that I was fine. Tony smirked for a moment and then looked at the cave. He sighed before turning his eyes to the ground in deep thought. This was big for all of us. We had no clue what Dimietry had in store once we entered the cave. He could have hundreds of cha
Before we lowered the rope I sent a flame ball down to see what we could see. Tony looked out the entrance to make sure no one was coming and we lowered the rope down until the only rope visible was leading to the anchor. I tugged on it with all the strength I had to make sure once again that it was sturdy enough for us to climb down. “Alright all set!” I called over to Tony and then looked again down the hole. “We better hurry so we don’t attract any attention to this area” Sylvia nodded and we both looked over in Tony’s direction. “Who’s going first?” Tony asked enthusiastically. Sylvia and I looked over at each other and shrugged our shoulders. I turned my attention back over to Tony and, with my left hand; I pointed to him and smiled sweetly. He smiled back at me, “you two are chickens, you know that?” his walk then turned into a jog. We both knew that he wanted to be the first and we also knew that he was right; we were too scared to be the first ones to be down in the darkness
Sylvia and I both looked at each other exhausted and then we both simultaneously collapsed. We sat there for about a half an hour waiting for Tony to get up, but he didn’t. I stood up and began to walk over to him. Scared for the worst, I touched his arm and began to rock him back and forth. It wasn’t very long after that, that he woke up. “OWWWWWWW” he screamed. “Why do you have to be so rough?” still not moving from his position. “I just wanted to make sure you were okay.” I answered back to him while looking him over and checking for any life threatening injuries. “I’m playing dead,” he said smirking at me. “I figured if I keep it up the changelings would leave me alone and I can heal.” He closed his eyes again motioning his expertise in the field. “Oh, so you left Sylvia and me to fend for ourselves, eh?” I jabbed him in the arm knowing it would hurt him. He yelled out in pain. “Like I would be of any help to you anyway,” he said grabbing his arm. “I can barely walk; I broke m
We tip-toed through the entrance into a large hallway of the cave, looking around to make sure there were no changelings in the area before moving on. Keeping as quiet as we could, we only spoke through hand gestures just in case any of the creatures were near. The “hall way” of the cave was slightly narrow to the point where I wondered how we were going to hide if any changelings did come our way. My heart pounded every step of the way as we got deeper and deeper into the crevice. Finally coming up to another clearing, I felt a huge weight lifted off my chest as we began to examine the room. Once it was all clear, we trudged on looking behind us and above us as we silently but swiftly moved through the large clearing into another hallway. This hallway was bigger than the last and had some large formations of rock to hide behind at least. The smell that filled my nostrils from last night quickly invaded them again; we were getting closer to where I had been. There was not one part o
They were kicked and beaten brutally before being ganged up on by more of them. Soon they were encircled by changelings each taking turns to lash out at the wolves. I quickly ran to their aid as more and more changelings entered the scene. I jumped on ones back and began punching, biting and scratching it desperately trying to pry it away from my friends. The changeling threw me off its back into the wall where I once had been. Before I knew it changelings were beating on me as hard as they could. Each one of them scratched, kicked and whipped my body. I looked over to Tony and Sylvia and noticed they were pretty badly beaten. They gave up on fighting back at this point. We were losing and badly. Their bodies were covered in their own blood as they cried out from every thrash on them. I tried my best not to give them the satisfaction of any kind of noise. It didn’t work so well because every time they kicked me, I couldn’t help but grunt. The pain was so unbearable, my body ached, I
I started looking around the room; it looked similar to where David was being tortured. The walls were covered in lime stone and there was a small, black coal grill in the middle of the floor that was lit. The flames danced off the grill almost as if they were able to just get up and walk out on their own. Along the wall, there were more restraints. From silver chains, to barbed wire all along the wall as if Dimietry had made his own torture chamber. Over in the corner there was a bed with large spikes coming out of it, then off on the other side was a bear trap. Closer to me there was a table covered with all kinds of weapons. Rusty old swords and knives rested on the table next to a club and a hammer. A scalpel lay next to a pair of hair cutting scissors and a bayonet. My heart started pounding again as I heard noises of someone talking to someone else coming from outside the room. I couldn’t understand what they were saying but I had a feeling it wasn’t good for the three of us in
Dimietry grabbed Tony’s head again and lifted him up to a standing position. He glanced over to me and smiled before ripping off one of Tony’s legs. I screamed out at him trying to break free and fight him. Every piece of wire I snapped was replaced by a new one by the changelings watching me. “You see what happens when we make bad decisions, Sophie?” he said before snapping off another leg. Tony cried out in pain. “Noooo! Leave him alone!” I screamed tears running down my face as I tried un-relentlessly to get out of my restraints not even realizing that they were cutting into my flesh once again. “I keep telling you, Sophie,” he continued. “You could have prevented this. All you had to do, was join me the first time I asked.” He paused for a moment and ripped off Tony’s tail. I screamed again unable to control the tears running down my face. Dimietry looked over at me and winced. He saw the pain it was causing me and smiled before continuing on. “Oh, come on Sophie! If you cared f
