I’m not sure on the complete context of vampires, I haven’t been one long enough to find out how the rest of them live their lives. All I can say is that things are pretty quiet in my neck of the woods, no pun intended. I honestly haven’t met another vampire here, nor have I run into the one who’s changed me. I’m guessing I’ll meet whoever this mystery vampire is, but I have a feeling it’s not anytime soon. Before I changed, there were very seldom attacks on my family. We live in such a remote place that anything supernatural is just so few and far between. That’s why I like it here, the less commotion, and the better. I guess one could say I was a witch in hiding. When a supernatural being stumbled upon me, they were given an ultimatum, leave town or be exterminated. Some were rather difficult and chose the more destructive paths, while others just let me be. It really depended on whether or not the creature felt they could take me in battle. The ones who stayed to fight usually lost.
Most of the creatures that stayed to fight were rather new to the whole supernatural being thing, which just made them easier to extinguish. They were often clumsy, arrogant and unskilled. Being so easily tricked is not a good thing when they are fighting a witch, because witches are very clever and can outsmart a large genre of opponents. Only the newest creatures were dumb enough to try and take them on. Since I’ve changed, I’ve been pretty much off the radar. It’s hard to detect a hybrid. Even the most powerful devices go haywire because they don’t know what they’re tracking. Our scent is a lot different too; we can easily blend in with a regular human because we don’t have a distinctive scent. It makes it easier to avoid making enemies based on stereotypes. Some creatures are superficial and prejudice against other creatures for some reason. I haven’t figured it out but I guess that’s more I have to learn. For the most part I know that the stereotype of vampires and werewolves is a myth. They usually work together and often live under the same roof to protect each other.Werewolves also aren’t cursed by a full moon, they can control their transformations. I made friends with a few werewolves back when I was just a witch. They were passing through and stopped in town for a breather and some rabbits. I do apologize, I find myself rambling on about all of this. It’s all still very new to me, well the vampire aspect of it to say the least, and I find every second of it fascinating.I try to go by day to day in light spirits. Liam does well in school and doesn’t get into trouble, so it’s easy to be proud of him. I haven't been very social lately; I’m still haunted daily about what happened that night. Fortunately, there are a few good friends who understand and give me my distance. It’s easy to keep up appearances with Clara because she’s always ready to do something. She’s also more than happy to take Liam in for the night so the boys can hang out and play pool in the basement, which is a major relief on hunting days. So much of me just up and disappeared all at once it's a little overwhelming; but smile I put on my game face and try my hardest to prevent anyone from finding out my secrets. I looked over at the clock, it was six; time to get up and make breakfast. I lazily pulled myself out of bed and threw on a pair of jeans and a hooded sweatshirt before going down stairs to make breakfast. I could hear Liam just waking up in the other room. "Morning Mom," h
With Liam in school it's time to start my day. It didn’t take me long to decide to take a bike ride down Main St., pick up a paper at the store and grab myself a coffee at the local coffee shop; maybe even a peanut stick, and read today's current events. Lately, it's been one disaster after another with kids committing suicide, oil spills, politicians trying to tell the world who they can and can’t fall in love with then denying you your constitutional rights if you don’t follow the ‘norm’ and other natural disasters. Today there are miners trapped in a Chilean mine, they rescued two but have yet to pull them all out. Things like this make me want to try and make the world better after Liam grows up and no longer needs me. I'll try a spell to help rescuers bring the miners to safety. As for everything else, it's out of my hands. One thing I can't do as a witch is disrupt nature's way of doing things. Sadly these things must happen or it will disrupt the universe and the results will
I came back to reality with the old man in front of me smiling as sweetly as an old man can smile. His dentures were coffee stained and he smelled like he hasn’t showered in days. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't see you." the man said before he winked at me. I paused for a minute, trying to search for the words I would say to him without giving myself away. "No, it's my fault," I replied coolly, "I'm a tad on the clumsy side." I smiled at him as innocently as possible. He seemed to have bought my act as he moved to make the conversation last longer. "That's alright;" he answered slyly, "we all are at some point." He smiled at me again laying his hand upon my shoulder. We both chuckled and went our separate ways. I left the coffee place in the opposite direction as he had and got on my bike and started to head home. I didn’t know if I should be frightened at the strange couple’s presence or to completely disregard our meeting. They weren’t threatening me or Liam in anyway, but I still felt
After I was sure they were safe for the night I recited a barrier spell around their premises to protect them from any demonic forces before I left. My first stop was to see if they were hunting so I went where the prey would be easy. When I got to a local pub I scanned the scene, it was a rather small bar, packed until you can barely move with glammed up young men and women dry humping each other and clenching their alcoholic beverages while one of their friends belted it out on the karaoke machine. I didn't find anything abnormal so I decided to join in on the chaos and sang a heartfelt slow song on the karaoke machine. The crowd walked to find the person they were attracted to and started to dance along. Gazing around I saw them holding on to each other like it was a death sentence to let them go. They all swayed gently like a small set of waves in the middle of the ocean, not being distracted by a thing. As I was singing I noticed a tall man at the bar with dirty blond hair and i
This morning I woke up late since Liam wasn't in the house. I grabbed a towel, slowly slipped off my jammies and stepped into the shower. The hot water felt good as it made its way down my body. It was so cold today that I put the water on extra hot to keep warm. I got out of the shower with a shiver and raced to get some warm clothes on, dried my hair and set off to get some pumpkin coffee. Feeling relieved that I bundled up today; I jumped onto my bike and began to pedal towards the coffee shop. Taking the trail as usual because it’s the safest route, I admired the trees and falling leaves as I passed by all the friendly faces who greeted me with a smile. I smiled back to acknowledge my hello and pedaled onward. The Lackawanna River flowed right alongside the trail, which was an added pleasure. I love the sound of running water. It was about eight miles to the coffee shop so I endure a good workout on a daily basis only to achieve my goal of obtaining that delicious cup of coffee t
"Please, give me a chance; I'm a really nice guy." I looked at him like he was crazy. Wasn’t he the one who just arrogantly made a pass at me? And now he’s a nice guy? I laughed to myself. "I'm married." I told him as coldly as I possibly could. "You're widowed." Okay, so now he is a stalker. My heart stopped, dead, as I tried to fight the tears that were coming against my will. "You don't know that!" I yelled tearfully getting up. Everyone in the coffee shop turned and stared. "Sorry" I said blushing and sat back down. "Yes, I do. This town isn't very secretive and I asked around about you. You're widowed with a son, you're depressed and have been on the antisocial side since your husband's death. Your friends are worried about you and want you to find happiness. I would like to try and make you happy if you're interested." I just glared at him. I couldn’t believe I was hearing this. The man was seriously messed up. I took a deep breath before I replied. "To be honest, David, I'
I woke up in darkness. Worried, I began to search for Liam. I raced down the stairs in a flash to find a note on the table that read: Over Tommy's for the night, dad said it's ok. Love, Li. I put the note down and looked around. The house was dark, and I was alone. I felt the presence of someone else in the house so I began to investigate. I walked slowly towards the bathroom hearing that the shower was running. "Honey?" Julian called from the shower. "Are you awake?" I was shocked to hear his voice. "Yes dear!" I called. "Are you almost done?" My heart started pounding; I was so excited to see if it was really Julian in the shower. I’ve been deceived by his presence before. So, I really hoped it was him this time and not some monster. I could hear the shower turn off. Julian came around the corner in just his towel. His hair still soaked, water dripping down is chest. I stood there in awe, watching him come closer to me. "We're alone tonight." he said with a mischievous smile. I
I didn’t know what to say. I wanted him there as much as I didn’t and giving in to these kinds of emotions would turn out bad in the given situation. I can’t let my guard down for anything. However, I reluctantly went against my mind’s wishes. "Alright, we can be friendly." I said coldly, as I watched his facial expression change from curious to relieved. Then a questionable look came across his face. "Why are you so dismissive of me?" he asked me acting like there were no reason to be suspicious of him. To be honest there were quite a few reasons to be suspicious of him, including the fact that he’s always around! I pulled myself together and searched for a simple answer before replying. "You are a vampire." I finally answered him, still standing on the road across from my porch. He began to move closer to where I was and I flashed him a look to stop him from coming any closer. He looked at me like I was forbidding him from entering his own house. "I assure you I'm not a bad one.
