Pulling back the sleeping bag the mysterious occupant began to cough violently and thrash about. In an instant David leapt from the cloth as though it had been on fire. His torn clothes revealed the scars from his torturous ordeal so I quickly jumped to my feet and rushed him into the house.Though I had only been gone for a few days, the house felt as if it were abandoned for years. It was a cool, breezy and stormy night. Rain came down in sheets, as a dark figure stood before a house. The house was pretty ordinary, white with blue shutters; it didn't have more than two bedrooms. It looked like a cozy little family home with flowers and shrubs lining the front lawn, and then the smell from the pellet stove smoke invaded his nostrils. Hmm… It's chilly out this morning, and a little bit on the cloudy side. The smell of the dying leaves is very calming, I guess you could say. Maybe it's just me, but I love everything about autumn. Sylvester is six-foot-five and is very skinny. His square face is bristly and mostly sunken in. His cheek bones pop out from the rest of his face and his bushy white eyebrows make it hard to see his brown eyes. Needless to say the smoothest and only hairless part of him is the top of his head. I've contemplated ending my own life several times, but the fact that the vampire didn't get Liam; my constant urge to protect my son has kept me from doing so for now. If he dies, I will die. It’s just that simple; I don’t see the point in living if I have nothing to live for. After all of the funeral arrangements and all was said and done, I tore down the house and rebuilt a similar looking one in place of the old. Through all of my guilt I can't help but know that Julian had invited him in at some point without my knowledge; and I can only hope he caught a glimpse of him before his demise.
