~VIOLET POV~

“In honor of this union, the Carmene family has decided to offer a special wedding gift to my sister and I decided that it would only be fair that we did the same.”

Now what the hell is he doing?

“To ensure our families are tied by blood and business,” Marco continued, “I am gifting Violet 20% of the Grecos business, effective immediately to Aleksei Carmene.”

The room erupted in applause. My breath hitched.

He doesn’t have the right to do that, those are my shares! Mine! I got it after my 18th birthday and I have earned it.

I stumbled forward but Aleksei held me back.

“ You have all the time to further discuss this after today, do not cause a scene.” He said quietly not sparing me a glance

“ Excuse me?” I snapped. “ you! Do ! Not! Have a right to tell me what to do.” I hissed, jerking away from him. “ You are the one who got gifted, my shares of my father’s company.” I said

Twenty percent? Marco dare gives my share of the company away because he doesn’t want me to be part of the company anymore and papa agreed to this! I’m so going to ruin every single one of them, I said as I walked straight to the bar.

He’d just turned me into a housewife with nothing on her…

“Welcome to the carmene family, you have a lot of drinking to do after now.” A slender handsome man said from beside me.

I didn’t look at him, “ Waiter! I want a bottle of rum, not shot.” I said

“ I’m Dmitri by the way, Aleksei’s brother, we haven’t been introduced.” He said

“ Well, I don’t care.” I said as a matter of fact

He smiled like he found what I was saying amusing. “ Nice try with the runaway bride act and your little plan to cancel the wedding, I think I’m going to like you.” He said smiling

I froze for a millisecond

“ I don’t know what you are talking about and I will suggest you get the fuck out of my sight right now.” I said clenching my teeth “ Except you don’t mind leaving in a body bag.”

He laughed, this silly boy literally laughed,

“ For what it’s worth.” He continued, his voice dropped into a whisper like we are sharing secrets . “I hate your brother too, so we are not enemies.” He said

And he walked away before I could respond to him. Marco walked to the bar and took the bottle from me.

“ I have never seen a bride try to get drunk alone at her own wedding.” He mocked

I turned slowly towards him

“ you think what you did there was a joke?” I said calmly “ Marco, I promise you something.” I said moving closer to him “ you will regret touching anything that belongs to me." I said and he laughed.

“V” Rochelle called out, running faster to me to pull me into a tight hug “I have been looking everywhere for you, how are you feeling?” Rochelle asked

I let out a slow breathe “ like a daughter that has just been sold along with her shares.” I said

Her gripped tightened around me, I checked around and Marco and disappeared into the crowd.

“ I’m so sorry, maybe Marco was just kidding.” Rochelle said trying to console me.

“ sometimes, I wish I had your simple life and genuine idea that everyone is good but you must have forgotten whose daughter I am, my family don’t announce jokes” I said resting my head on her shoulder

“ I’m so sorry.” She said again, patting my back

“Don’t be, I will find a way. If my plans didn’t flop, I wouldn’t be in this mess.”

“ V, maybe you should just give him a chance, he looks pretty decent.” Rochelle says

I laughed “ Roch, a mafia don like the carmene’s can never be decent.” I said as I watch Aleksei walking towards us

“ We are leaving now!” He announced

“ I love you, Roch.” I said to her as I held Aleksei’s hands playing the part for everyone watching and ready to leave this family that has done nothing but betrayed me.

We got into the car after saying our goodbyes to our guest but i didn’t give any emotion away, to make everyone know how furious I was and I didn’t spare papa or Marco a glance as I slam the limousine door.

“Alright, James! Drive.” Aleksei said as he stepped into the car.

“ Stop at the mall, I need to get off this dress” I said .

He took one look at my wedding dress and sigh.

“ No! You will wait until we get home.” Aleksei said taking out his laptop ignoring me after

“ I want to get one myself, now!” I snapped

“Told you my answer already” He said turning his eyes to me

“ you cant control me!” I said turning to face the car window watching the city blur.

“ Already doing that!”he said

When we got to the carmene mansion I was too angry to care about the lavish interior of the mansion or the modern furnishings and art works or I needed was a plan to get out of this damn house.

The butler led me through the mansion seems the whole carmene household disappeared when we got here and my thoughts were still on Marco’s audacity, when the butler stopped at a door.

"Your suite, signora," he said, bowing stiffly before retreating.

I pushed the double doors open and stepped into the room and it was as luxurious as I expected, I breathed in a sigh of relief, finally happy to get some silence, I tried unhooking my dress, when I heard another door click shut from inside, I turned slowly to the direction of the sound.

And Aleksei was there without his suit and just his muscles chest taking a sit on the arm chair in the room.

"What the fuck are you doing!" I said sharply "Get out! This is my room."

"Our room," he corrected. He took a step toward me, then another. "My father expects a blissful marriage, princess and sharing a room comes with it.

"Don’t you dare come close to me," I hissed, reaching blindly for a crystal lamp on the side table. "I don’t want this and I will kill you in your sleep before I let you touch me.

Aleksei stopped. He had a smug look on his face that told me he found my bravado more amusing than threatening.

"Lower the glass, princess. I’m not interested in hurting you.” He said

He walked passed me to a drawl, pick up a file and tossed it on the bed.

"I don't want you either," he said, his tone sharp "You’re a Greco and I will rather sleep with all the whores in Chicago than lay in bed with you."

I stared at the papers. "What is this?"

"A contract ," Aleksei said, leaning against the bed frame .

"You sign those, and we establish the rules of this farce, we call marriage.. You get your own wing of the house after the first month. You get an allowance that would make a queen blush. In exchange, you play the perfect wife at every event we attend”

I stepped closer, my eyes scanning the file. "And if I refuse?"

"Then we do this the hard way," he said, his eyes darkening. "And trust me, miss…Miss Violet the hard way involves a lot more than your little games... “ he said
