Mag-log inAndres Pov.
I had been so engrossed in my work, only for all to be shattered by a squeal from the first floor, probably the cafeteria.
I ignored it, waving it off as one of the jitters of the employees, but then I heard a scream and immediately knew that I couldn't take it anymore.
I headed to the cafeteria, and wasn't surprised to see Rosaura there. The irregular beating of my heart started again, and I had to look away to shut it off.
“Who the hell made that excruciating noise?” I demanded as silence fell over the hall.
Though I enjoyed it sometimes, this wasn't one of those times.
“It came from me. What would you do, brother?” I turned to see Gary, staring at me with those mischievous eyes of his.
Is he trying to make a scene?
“I know it wasn't you, Gary,” I said with every single coolness in me. The last thing I wanted was to start a fight with him here, of all places, and of course, Gary is very temperamental.
“Well, it is me, and I ask you again, what are you going to do about it?”
“Nothing, absolutely nothing,” I mumbled, and he laughed out loud.
“I'm sure you didn't walk all the way from your office over to this place to say ‘nothing’, C'mon, let it all out,” Gary said with a sinister smile, and I stared at the employees, all looking at me.
“Everyone out,” I commanded, and they were just about to leave when Gary raised his arm, stopping them.
Of course.
“Everyone stayed,” He commanded also, and they all looked around, confused.
Now they didn't know who to obey, and I definitely don't want to put each of them in a position of choosing sides. I might have let it go, but Gary wasn't.
“What on earth do you want, Gary?” I asked him, trying so hard to control my voice so as not to sound angry, and he shrugged.
“Oh, nothing, maybe payback for stealing my party,” He said, and I massaged the bridge of my nose in a thoughtful way.
“Just let it go, Gary.”
“But I don't want to, besides, I'm sure everyone wants to know a little more about Andres, the real estate broker who avoids saying his last name,” He yelled the last part out, and mumblings sounded around the hall.
Everyone knew me as Mr Andres, an important part of Beaumont Estates, but nobody knew who I really was.
My identity had been kept a secret for reasons best known to me.
“He is Andres Beaumont, the first son of Lucas Beaumont and Heir to Beaumont estates,” He said, and gasps followed immediately along with silent muttering, and Gary looked on, victorious.
He had cast a secret I so much wanted to keep.
At least, it wasn't a bad thing.
‘He's the heir?’
‘I thought that was Gary?’
‘You mean, he agreed for his brother to be seen as heir, why?’
‘Why did he keep all this from us?’
All the mutterings started getting to my head, and I tried so hard to shut them out.
My arms began shaking, and I tried so much to hide it so that nobody could know about my nerves.
This must be what Gary is trying to accomplish.
“And how is any of this special? He's the CEO's first child, so what? Will that increase or decrease the respect we have for him? No, so quick the incessant muttering, it's annoying,” Rosaura snapped, and for some reason, everyone turned away, acting busy.
She does have that ruling blood in her, and did she just save me?
“And who are you?” Gary asked her, his eyes scheming lustfully over his body, and I felt unquenchable anger for some reason.
I made her say something only for her to smile at him and curtsied.
“My name is Rosaura Morales, sir, pleasure to make the acquaintance of the real heir of Beaumont estates,” She said, and He nodded.
“I like you already,” He said to her with a chuckle.
“Likewise, Sir Gary,” She replied, and I felt a pang in my chest immediately, but why?
I shouldn't care anyway; he was my brother, and she was just a normal girl I had met recently.
“You are the new…”
“Senior agent, employed recently,” She said, and he smiled.
“Not surprised, you sure seem smart enough to be made a senior agent right away. In fact, I wish I could have you as a PA right now,” He joked, and she laughed.
I turned away, not wanting to see anything.
Everything just made me sick.
I sighted Evans a distance away and immediately headed towards him, while we walked together to my office.
“Do you like her?” He asked me, and I seemed to be caught off guard.
“Who? Like who?” I asked, and he rolled his eyes.
“Don't act like you don't know, I mean, do you like the new girl, Rosaura?”
I nearly pounded on the question before cautioning myself, how on earth would I like her? We just met.
“That's a funny question,” I told him.
“And I'm not laughing,” He replied to me with a stoic face, and I sighed.
“What gave you even the slightest clue that I liked her?”
“I just guessed, also your reactions are priceless when it comes to her,” He said with a small chuckle, and I frowned.
“I don't understand what you mean,” I said, and he shrugged.
“You don't need to understand,” he answered me, and I rolled my eyes.
“You're just overreacting. Is it because I flirted with her at the party? I was drunk and joking,” I mumbled, and He sneered.
“Yeah, right.”
“You're sick,” I told him, and he smiled.
“Did you take the drugs?” He asked me quietly, and I paused for a while before starting to walk again.
“I did”
“Your arms are still shaking; its potency is yielding nothing…”
“You think I don't know that!?” I snapped, and he kept quiet.
My arms started shaking again, and I tried so much to keep them under control.
Rosa's POVI woke that morning, feeling very lazy, and it was a Monday morning. I was home alone. Quinn had travelled for three days for an I.T training. “Alright, let’s see what this chip has given us so far,” I said, scrolling through the files on my laptop. “It’s not flooded yet, but it’s steady. Gary is definitely hiding things. Big things for that matter. These transfers don’t make sense. And these late-night meetings? Something’s off.”I leaned back on the couch and sighed. “I should feel moved about this. We’re moving in the right direction. Why do I feel so… restless?”I picked up my phone and called Quinn.“Hey Q,” I said in a toddler tone.“Rosa! Finally. I’ve been waiting. How did the data look this past weekend?” she asked.“Pretty solid, actually. I’ve gone through everything the chip sent. It’s confirming what we suspected. Gary’s hiding a lot. There are encrypted folders he keeps opening, weird offshore movements, and meetings that aren’t on any official calendar. It’s
Andres's POV“Monday morning and I’m already on edge,” I muttered, gripping the steering wheel. “The medicine took forever to settle this weekend. It kept me staring at the ceiling for hours. And Billy’s words keep replaying… ‘Talk to her. You deserve something good.’ Talk to her? How? I’ve been turning that over for two days straight, and I’m still stuck.”I parked the car and headed inside the building. “Just breathe. Get through the day. One step at a time.”Jefferson was waiting near my office. “Morning, boss. You good? You look like the weekend kicked your ass.”“Morning, Jeff. Rough weekend, yeah. The medication settled more slowly than usual. What’s the latest on Meridian?” I asked, dropping into my chair.Jefferson sat across from me. “Update looks really clean and strong. Projections are up, client feedback is positive, and the risk section is tighter than last week. We’re in a good spot.”“That’s solid news. Walk me through the numbers again,” I said.“Revenue forecast is lo
Andres's POV“Shit… slow down, just slow down,” I breathed hard, sitting on the edge of the bed, gripping my knees so tight. “Why today? Come on… breathe with me. One… two… three… four. In… hold it… out slowly. I’m trying. I’m really trying here.”My arms kept shaking. I rocked forward a little, jaw locked. “Okay… okay, deeper breaths. One… two… three… four. You’re not falling apart. You’ve done this a hundred times. Just pass already, please. I need to get to work. Nobody can see me like this.”I exhaled shakily, flexing my fingers. “There… yeah, it’s easing up. Good. You’re alright, Andres. You’re fine. Get up. Put your shirt on. Tie straight. Look like the guy who just closed the Creston deal with his team. Nobody knows about your secret. They will never know.”“Morning, Jeff. Come in, close the door,” I said as Jefferson stepped inside.“Morning, boss. You got a minute?” he asked.“Always for you. Sit down. What’s going on?” I replied.Jefferson leaned forward. “Meridian proposal
Rosa's POV“Rosa, there you are. I’ve been looking for you,” Gary said, his voice smooth as he stepped closer to me near the elevator. “Everyone’s gone home already. Perfect timing.”I tilted my head slightly toward him, smiling softly. “Gary. You always seem to appear when things get quiet. What’s on your mind?”He chuckled, standing just close enough that I could smell his cologne. “You. All evening, I couldn’t stop thinking about how everyone was talking about how incredible you were. And at the celebration… that laugh of yours? Dangerous.”“Dangerous?” I asked, letting a light laugh escape as I looked up at him. “I was just celebrating the win with everyone. You seemed to be enjoying yourself, too.”“Oh, I was. But mostly I was enjoying watching you,” he replied, his tone dropping playfully. “You light up a room, Rosa. I meant what I said earlier. You and I should have dinner. Just us, you know ...Good food, better conversation. What do you say?”I pretended to think about it, bit
Andres's POV“Boss, we did it! Creston actually signed!” Jefferson called out, raising his glass high across the room.I stood at the edge with my barely touched drink, letting the warmth of the win settle in. “Yeah, we did. The team worked their asses off. Feels good, doesn’t it?”“Feels amazing!” Sarah from finance laughed. “Open bar tonight? My tab is on the company, right?”“Everything’s on the company tonight,” I replied, smiling slightly. “Drink up. We earned this.”The team was looser than they’d been in months. Laughter bounced off the walls. Someone turned the music up a notch. I let myself enjoy the moment, watching everyone relax for once. Then Gary walked in.“Parties already started without me?” Gary announced with that easy, perfect smile, sliding through the crowd like he owned the place. “Andres, my man! Congratulations on landing Creston. Hell of a win.”“Gary,” I said. “Didn’t know you were coming by.”“Couldn’t miss celebrating with the team. You know me.” Gary wink
Rosa's POV“Miss Morales, you remind me so much of my daughter. Same fire in the eyes, same way of cutting through the nonsense,” Mr. Creston said, shaking my hand firmly.I smiled warmly, squeezing his hand back. “Thank you, sir. That means a lot coming from you. I’m really glad we could find common ground today.”“You’ve got a good head on your shoulders. Not many young people do these days. Keep that up, and you’ll go far,” he replied, nodding with approval.“I’ll do my best. Thank you again for trusting us with this,” I said softly. The moment the door closed behind him, I let the smile drop completely. I started gathering my files and notes when Andres’s voice came from across the table.“Good work.”I looked up and found him already staring at me. For a second, neither of us moved. The air felt thick, heavy with everything we weren’t saying. I held his gaze, my heart beating a little faster.“Thank you, sir,” I said quietly, breaking the moment. I looked back down at my papers.
