JASMINE POV.

I sat by the window of the coffee shop, my fingers curled around a warm mug I hadn’t taken a single sip from. I had texted Haley as soon as William drove out, asking if she could meet. She didn’t ask why. She just said she would be there.

Now, I was counting heartbeats every time the door opened.

My stomach twisted with nerves. I didn’t know what I would do with the truth once I had it. Part of me didn’t even want it, not because I didn’t care, but because I was tired. Tired of betrayal and always being one step behind love, Tired of my world crashing down every time I started to feel steady.

I bit down on my finger, trying to ease the panic bubbling in my chest.

The bell over the door chimed.

This time, it was Haley.

She walked in wearing oversized sunglasses and a bright green jacket, her hair in a messy bun. She looked like she hadn’t slept, or maybe that was just my guilt projecting.

When she spotted me, she gave a small wave and a cheerful smile. I smiled back, tryi

WILLIAM POV.I didn’t need a play-by-play to figure it out. The moment Haley’s message popped up on my phone telling me Jasmine was leaving. I knew she had seen the message. And honestly, I should’ve seen it coming.I should've known when I got to the office and noticed the Messages app was open even though I hadn’t touched it that day. Of course, she had seen something. No wonder she was suddenly acting strange, and I fell for the whole sickness act. It was probably because I thought things were finally back to how I wanted them. Boy, was I wrong. She was already planning to leave without giving me a chance to explain. And when I saw Haley’s texts staring back at me like a slap in the face, I knew Jasmine had read them.I bolted out of the building like it was burning behind me. I ran red lights. I ignored my meeting with several important clients. I didn’t care. I took the turn into the estate so fast I nearly shattered the gate.Because if she walked out that door, I wouldn’t just

JASMINE POV. I zipped up my suitcase and double-checked the envelope of cash I had hidden inside the lining—emergency money. I’d been stacking it little by little over the last few weeks. Deep down, I must have known something like this would happen, that the fairytale wouldn’t last. That the man who made me feel safe would eventually become the reason I needed to run again. The Uber was already on the way.I glanced around the room one last time—the soft bed we’d just shared, the wine-stained glasses still on the nightstand, the throw blanket we used to fight over when watching TV on the couch. Everything about this place looked the same. But nothing felt the same.I grabbed my bag, hoisted it over my shoulder, and headed for the stairs. But as I descended the last step, I froze when I saw William standing at the bottom of the staircase, chest rising and falling like he had run the whole way back. His hair was disheveled, his face glistening with sweat, and his eyes—God, those eyes—

  • WIFE TO A CHEATER BRIDE TO A BILLIONAIRE    CHAPTER 73

JASMINE POV. I could not believe it.All this time, I thought Martin and Kimberly were behind the kidnapping. I thought Elora had been dragged into this mess by their greed and obsession with power. And even when Kiara, my ex-best friend told me that the real danger was tied to William… I still defended him. I trusted him.God. I dismissed her so fast. But now it all made sense. The way William refused to involve the police or the press. How he was always trying to control the fallout, how he kept dodging anything that would expose the truth. I thought he was protecting me. But maybe… he was just protecting himself. How many of those attacks had he known about? How many did he let me blame myself for?I gripped the edge of the blanket, fingers curling until the fabric bunched beneath my nails. What the hell was wrong with me? Why did I keep falling for the wrong men? How could I still be so… naive?Martin destroyed me and now William….William lied to me.He stood there, fed me brea

  • WIFE TO A CHEATER BRIDE TO A BILLIONAIRE    CHAPTER 72

WILLIAM – POVI watched her from across the room. She hadn’t said much since I arrived—just a soft nod, a faint glance. Jasmine was curled up in the visitor’s chair by Elora’s hospital bed, her arms wrapped tightly around herself like she was holding in a scream. The lights above her flickered once, and she didn’t even flinch. She just sat there, unmoving, her eyes glued to the unconscious girl hooked to tubes and wires.I cleared my throat. “You should go home, Jas. You need rest.”She didn’t answer. Didn’t even blink.I tried again, softer this time. “You’ve been here for hours.”Still nothing.I crossed the room and crouched beside her chair. “She’s stable,” I said, gently brushing a strand of hair away from her cheek. Her skin felt warm, too warm. She finally looked at me, and I saw it—everything she wasn’t saying. The guilt. The fear. The exhaustion. “She hasn’t opened her eyes,” Jasmine whispered. “What if she never does?”“She will,” I said, with a conviction I didn’t fully fee

  • WIFE TO A CHEATER BRIDE TO A BILLIONAIRE    CHAPTER 71

JASMINE – POVI woke up disoriented. It was dark again. The room felt heavy, like the air itself had thickened. I pushed the blanket off, but the cold didn’t bother me.My head ached, not from sickness, but from the weight of a dream I couldn’t quite remember—only flashes. A car. Screeching tires. Elora’s face, pale and limp in my arms. And then nothing. Blackness. Like my mind didn’t want me to see more.I sat up slowly, every bone protesting.Where was William? He had been beside me earlier—his arm draped loosely around my waist like a quiet promise. I hadn’t even meant to fall asleep. I’d only asked him to lie down, just until my chest stopped feeling like it would split open. But now I was alone. My fingers brushed the indent on the other side of the bed. Still warm.He hadn’t been gone long.I tried to breathe. Deep, steady. But guilt isn’t something you can exhale. It curls in your lungs and makes a home there.I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to forget the image of Elora on that
