A Second Mate

**Athena's POV**

I thrashed my head from side to side as he pushed into me. Just then, I heard a loud bang on the door. I had expected Ragas to get off me, but he didn't, rather he took me harder.

“Hel-” he quickly covered my mouth with his hand, shutting me up that very instant. Whoever it was continued to hit the door while Ragas also continued with what he was doing.

I can't tell how long it took, but when he had gotten enough of me, he pulled away, leaving me on the cold floor.

Just then, the door to the room was pulled down instantly and to my greatest horror, I perceived Lorrie's scent in the room accompanied by another scent that was a little familiar. I let out a shocked gasp, when I realized Lorrie had seen me in the worst of all states.

Though I can't tell what expression she carries as of the moment, but one thing was for sure and there is the fact that she was going to kill me.

Immediately, I reached for my dress, Which lingered around my legs and pulled it up to cover my chest, with trembling hands. Despite all this, I was still feeling terribly weak.

“What have you done, you sly bitch!” Lorrie attacked me instantly, pulling me by the hair.

“I swear, I'm going to kill you right here and now!” She yelled as he continued to pull my hair.

“Lorrie, please let her go,” I heard Ragas say.

“Let her go? Why should I? She literally seduced you, didn't she?”

“No… I didn't se-”

I didn't get to finish my statement before I got slapped hard across the face.

Immediately, I took my hands to my face.

“The nerve you have to speak after being caught! Ryan, drag the shameless slut outside the room to the hall. I want everyone to see what a slut she has.”

My heart sank that very instant.

“Lorrie, don't you dare do that!”

Ragas yelled.

“And why not? Don't tell me you enjoy being seduced by her!”

“No…no of course not.”

“Then, do not speak! I'm heartbroken right now, so let me handle matters as they are. I'll never let a nobody like her ruin my life!”

I grabbed my dress firmly with tears running down my cheeks. Why is this happening to me? This was never my fault, yet I'm about to get punished for what I didn't do. How can life be this unfair to me, why?

In tears, I was dragged out of the room by the hands.

“Please don't do this to me, Lorrie. Alpha Ragas, tell her the truth! Tell her you were the one who forced me!”

I screamed out and wailed, but no one listened to me.

In the process where I was being manhandled and dragged out, a sudden air blew past me.

“What do you all think you're doing?!"

The deep voice thundered in the air and immediately, there came a stillness I've never experienced before. Why was everyone suddenly quiet?

The only thing that echoed in my ears was the solid footsteps which, I sensed, were coming towards me.

I still held on to my cane with the other hand holding my dress around my chest.

Just then, I felt my inner wolf stir for reasons I couldn't tell and the words, mate, instantly echoed into my ears like an alarm bell ringing in my head and immediately I froze.

What was that? Mate? What mate?

“Isn't that The Lycan Alpha of the Nightshade?”

I heard someone whisper in fright. What? The Lycan Alpha is here?

“Greetings, A…alpha Jeremy. ”

I heard the trembling voice of Bianca say. That was accompanied by everyone, greeting him in the same way, “Greetings Alpha!”

It was him. I tried to scramble off the ground, but my legs failed me and I fell back down on the floor.

I needed to understand the situation I'm in. Did my wolf call out to the Lycan Alpha? Hell no! I mean, it's bad enough that I was mated to the Alpha of the Dark Moon Pack which is popular known all over. Now my wolf is calling out to the Lycan Alpha? A man no one dares to go against. Not even Ragas.

“Who would have thought that coming to the engagement ceremony of my good friend will not only make me see the manner of injustice taking place but also see that my mate is the one being abused in front of me.”

“Huh?!” The hall instantly went into great panic. Presently, I felt like the ground should open and swallow me whole.

Just then, I heard the sound of footsteps coming in my direction.

“Please don't come close! Please…"

“Nice to meet you, mate,” he said, the words so close to my ears.

“Let's get you cleaned up,” he suddenly held me firmly by the arm and gently pulled me up. The moment our skin touched, I felt sparks all over me. How did this happen? Ragas were still my mate, and now another mate emerged in the span of two years, and it has to be the Lycan Alpha!

“Alpha Jeremy, I apologize for what you had to witness, but I can assure you that things aren't always like this in the pack,” I heard Alpha Derek say.

How could he say that?

“This is baffling. Are you trying to tell me, you have no idea that a blind pack member is being bullied in your very own pack?”

“I apologize for all this. If I had known, I would have stopped this madness before it got to this point. I mean, I saved her in the first place and made her my second daughter.

While all this was ongoing, the Alpha held me firmly by the hand, while I held on to my cane with my other hand. My heart was pounding heavily in my chest. I never expected such a turn of events.

“Since it has come to this, I can only say one thing, so listen carefully.”

“I'm all ears, Alpha.”

“Since Athena here is my mate, it is only right that I take her back with me to my pack.”

Instantly I tightened the hold of my cane in utter shock. Turns out I wasn't the only one shocked, but all those present. I could hear their gasps and whispers.

“B…but I believe you're well aware of the condition of Athena. I mean, in her state, I'm not sure if she'll make a worthy Lycan Luna of your reign."

“Impudence!” He thundered in anger, causing everyone to shiver in fright.

“How dare you say that about my mate!”

“My apologies, I was only trying to exp-”

“I don't need your explanations!”

This made me feel a lot of relief.

The moon goddess has finally remembered me. Finally, someone will take me out of the dungeons called a pack, and it's no one else but the Lycan Alpha. I can't begin to explain just how happy I feel at the moment.

“Well, I should thank you for the years you've taken care of her. From now on, I'll be responsible for her.”

Suddenly, I sensed him lean closer to me.

“Permit me for doing this,” he stated, and the next thing I knew, I was being carried off the ground and into his strong arms.

I let out a low gasp at this action and so did everyone in the Pack house.

“I'm taking my mate home, goodbye, Alpha Derek.”

Now that I was in his arms, my heartbeat increased and I felt so awkward.

“Relax and wrap your arms around me,” he whispered into my ears, which made me shiver.

“B…but my cane,” I muttered.

“You don't need that. I'll get you a better means of movement."
