Jordan-cum-wolf stiffened then ran with the drenched me in his one claw flailing like a toy. I brought my hand to my mouth so I wouldn't attract whatever calamity it was that was chasing us like a headless chicken.
I have no idea how long that went on, my heart was about to fail any moment now.
I resisted the urge to gag, lest this strange creature named Jordan get disgusted and decide to throw me here as canon fodder for the worst evil.
It wasn't long before I was in a clearing with several black sports cars parked. One after another the men called Sentinel Monsters appeared.
My mouth gaped and heart flipped but only a wrecked gasp left me as my reality turned upside down. All the rules of nature I knew had failed me. Nothing but sheer madness could make sense of it.
Before my very prescription-ed eyes the monsters transformed back to buck-naked hot males.
They were shouting commands to each other in panic, I didn't have time to eavesdrop before I was shoved roughly into one of the cars. I bumped my head and elbow but I was too stupefied to complain.
Jordan somehow morphed back to a human and I could only look at him with bulging eyes. He was the only one who was naked but he didn't seem to mind.
My ears rang as my senses dulled. I shook my head several times to make sense of what was happening. He took a blanket from the headrest and adorned it like a loincloth.
Though I claimed to be a decent woman and was scared out of my mind that I had finally lost it, I was only a woman while these hunks of men loitered around I was helpless to ogle.
The ripped muscles and my distressed sense of reality—
A man came jogging as he huffed out pants of breath, "We have trapped him in nets after shooting with heavy darts. That will keep him down for some time."
My brows hiked up to my hairline as I realized that except for Jordan, who had the least decency to cover up, the others didn't prioritize dressing up.
Jordan gave a nod, and snapped his fingers, "Inform the King and the Council. We can't let him get to the civilization!"
The men agreed and went out of sight to furiously make calls. but before I could inspect all the varieties, my breath caught in my throat.
"Jordon! Damn it! Why did you drag that wench along?!"
"Are you trying to get us killed?"
A man came furiously stomping and yelled, "Aye, Jordan! Get rid of the runt, she will attract him like a loaf of meat!"
"No! You can't-" I desperately shouted but was ignored.
"Huh! This runt is the only one he gives a fuck here about! He's drunk on the pressure of the eclipse." Jordan hissed God-knows-what while running his hands through his hair, messing them up.
But whatever it was, it had shushed the rest of them but their reluctance was obvious.
They ignored me like I was a backdrop and I was shut miserably. It was obvious they didn't think much of my life and if this sexy Bronze dude was to be trusted I was the target of the wretched evil.
A chill went down my spine. If these monsters were afraid of him, I didn't know if I wanted that resurrected thing to get his hands on me. I looked at the driver's seat beside me and crawled on it as stealthily as possible.
I can only trust myself.
"I say, leave her here. She smells of his lifeblood, he will find the other half of his soul even if we were to bury her!"
The men behind were shouting louder and louder in exasperation like the person on the other end of the call was in disbelief. Several men on calls were trying to reach several people.
I flinched with the sudden hit that shook the car. Jordan had slapped his hand on the hood of the car, denting it. He became tenser by the second.
Jordan looked like a man who hadn't been responsible even for his underwear his life. It was understandable how it was freaking him out.
I swallowed, cold sweat permeated my anxiety, I expected what was to come, "Matthias, don't let fear of death take away your honor as a man!" His growl stiffened me like a spear that spiked me right in the chest.
A silence paralyzed them, even I froze up while looking for the keys. Who knew there was still such chivalry left?
A crowd of men had formed, most of who conformed with Matthias.
The men looked irked but none opposed him, instead directing him, "It's for the greater good, Jordan! She's his soul, but we, the nearby Packs, and humans in the city are nothing but pests to him!"
I wanted to shout, I was sure he didn't keep me in high regard either but I was nothing to them. I could only hold in my sniffles.
It looked like a vein would pop out of his head anytime soon. "That is why she's our only saving grace! A bargain he can't give up on!"
After rampaging for a while, I found the keys thrown on the edge of the seat.
They had no plans of leaving, I'm guessing they think it's their responsibility to rid of this monster but I beg to differ.
I had no plans of being the insignia of sacrifice. I didn't struggle for 16 years in school just to be sliced up like butter. These freaks of nature could rot here especially when their ultimate didn't have anything good in my interest.
"You'll get us killed! Supreme Lycans are crazed for their mates, we will all be sliced up before enforcement even arrive, the only one who will let us live is here!" A man with blonde hair spat in agitation.
How much I would like to sympathize with these noble men but my morals had drowned to the water bed after that damned Jordan rinsed me in a lake like a handkerchief.
"Till he's done with us, and then to reclaim his soul, to rid of the weakness, his first instinct will be to kill her."
Jordan patted his oh-so-wonderful chest "She will get us out of here alive!"
Matthias opened his mouth to refute but an enraged roar cut him off.
I was in the driver's seat with everything set. I didn't wait for them to get out of their meditation.
I started the ignition and ran the car as fast as I could but I wasn't the only one, several cars swished out of the scene.
So now they know the fear of death? Good riddance.
I couldn't see much in the dark forest but I drove down the track like a mad woman. Headlights could get me killed so, no! I would rather die in a dumped Feisty Sports car than by the hand of that rebooted deranged beast.
I could see the road just fine when the car shook from whatever had landed on the roof. Bile rose in my stomach as renewed fear took hold of me.
A growl like the last nail in the coffin buried what was left of my sanity. With a heart-pounding rush, I stepped on the accelerator and changed gears. I drove with no direction but only survival in my mind.
The window shattered but before I could start screaming my lungs out, I saw Jordan's head hanging upside down.
"Scoot on the next seat before I fling the door open and you out of the car." I swallowed but I had no way to fend off this mutated creature.
But as long as we had vocal bargains, a freaky creature is manageable.
I crawled onto the next seat while keeping my hand still on the steering wheel. He got in through the window feet first taking my breath away.
Her eyes stay latched on mine till begrudgingly she is shoved into another corridor. Her material beauty shone brighter than Sirius. Her wooers come in all sizes, and now species.” Annoyingly Ddurehan wriggled his brows.Rashard peeled his eyes away from the opening she disappeared to, chuckling. He raised his hand in the air. His Twin Daggers from across the room, swishingly flew closely by several heads, landing in his fist. Sordan had screwed him up good,” Durehan muttered with his mouth dripping his drink. The Coven’s Master hadn’t been the ideal father figure.Hashtan tipped his head pouring more of the rich fruit sap “It must suck to be the runt of the fami
Eerily static, everything in his house reeks of lousy witches and nuisance. In the veil of the night, I stare down at my wife with empty eyes. She always looks almost innocent of any flaw known to men. “Nafasm.”How she held my attention just breathing you would expect her to be the most profound of arts. Carved to perfection and vices.“Little Temptress.” Whispering in the night, I graze my forefinger on her cheek. From her neck to her inviting bosom. Her miniature freckle there buzzed with her beating heart. This dainty twig-like neck would snap in two with a flick in my hold. This fragile, yet she had this inexplicable hold on me. I narrow my eyes, sniffing her close. The transition had begun. I scrutinized the minx and I wonder how she made it this far.She will likely need to have molten lava in her veins to survive the change. The corner of my lips turned up humorlessly. There's a possibility the last thread holding me here could disappear any moment. As if to gut me good, she
I jerked up with a yelp, my hand on the bite mark warily still. Leaping for the coat, I wore it turning my head away from her. Once the evidence of my blunder was under wraps, I pivoted to her. she stood there with hands twisted on her chest and a dirty smirk in place, “What is that? A hickey from your lover to remember him by?” It stung when she called it out. My lover? The man looked like he could hardly stomach the sight of me. I curse the day I fell into this loop of misery. Venus didn’t have much to her if you took away her lineage and the grudges that drove her motives. Dad always said she was all ‘all rattle and no rain’. Inconsequential. Perhaps that is what drove her this mad at the world. Unsurprisingly I wasn’t feeling generous enough to humor her jabs, “Watch what you say. I’m not as laid back as your diabolical family.” I was giving back the throb Sarkhan's indifference had left on me to her. And despite this new low, I didn’t have an ounce of guilt. She scoffs. Eve
We both took the comfort only we emitted for each other and in those moments his identity or my obstinacy didn't exist. Though I didn't acknowledge it, I was the monster my parents' blunders birthed to.I sigh burying myself deeper and getting cozy with the hard and sturdy man I barely knew. A voice from the back of his throat snaps my head up. I see his eyes squinted at the ceiling before scrunching them up like he was holding something in. He looked so intense, so intimidating. Everything about him screamed sinful, the wide shoulder that could shoulder two of me. If I didn't know he was 'Lycan', I would assume he was one of those sculptures carved to surreal perfection in Italy, brought to life with a kiss of true love.Assuming a mere kiss had the capacity to achieve such a feat. I purse my lips but decide it's futile to ask anyway. Hiding my reddened face on his chest I take a breath. He wasn't ready for an upgrade from his status as my comfort pillow. Like a glutton, I open my
"My door isn't locked." He only smirks cupping my face, "Feverish." The voice was so rich like a siren call, it had me entranced. Surprisingly so. I was stone cold just a while ago. He snatched up the blanket and bundled me up before getting under too. Even with the flimsy barrier of the heavy blanket between us but his heat still reached me. The sensations he awoke began from the depth of my heart so a layer couldn't help from the shyness. My eyes cast down to his chest exposed between the buttons. "You shouldn't have bothered, human these days are too materialistic to believe." Snapping up I can only stare at him. While I was distracted his hand came down soothing my hair. I slid closer to him. I only guess from where he conjured it from, but he slipped something into my parted lips. My first reaction was to spit out the unfamiliar thing but he covered my mouth. I looked up at him horrified. "Eat." His decree fell on like a sentence, and I chewed it bursting the tangy and sweet
"He can't kill you, Rey! You are his only heir." I reassured my beating heart, repeating my life mantra. This is what I counted on when I screwed up. I stand in front of the giant oddity of bricks and stones I called home. It had never looked this intimidating. I knew my father was already aware of my arrival much before I stepped into the perimeter but my heart just thumped down at the thought of facing him. Dragging my feet on the path, I halt with a grimace. I should have gone to my mother's place instead. She would be pissed too but I won't be this scared of her. Besides, like any other emotion, her anger was volatile gasoline too. Sarkhan wasn't agreeable when I told him to leave me we were close to our estate but I didn't want to choose a discreet tombstone for him in our backyard, so I insisted. Dad will probably know who I hitched a ride with. But I'm too virgin to be a widow. Looking up, I'm struck to see my Dad standing in the doorway. He looked far more wretched and mi
