The Aetherstar moved.

And the world trembled with it.

Seraphine barely rolled aside before a wave of dark energy slammed into the ground where she had stood. Stone shattered. The earth split open like fragile glass.

Pain ripped through her body.

Her magic had already bloomed, fully awake now but it felt wild, uncontrollable, burning through her veins like lightning trapped beneath skin.

Blue light burst from her hands instinctively as she fought back.

The attack struck the Aetherstar.

The fall felt endless. Seraphine Emberlain and Damien Drakaris tumbled through the rift like stars torn from the sky. Wind roared around them. Colors twisted violently: silver, blue, emerald, white, spiraling through the void as the portal carried them between worlds. Every nerve in Damien's body burned. It felt as if something inside him was being pulled apart and rebuilt at the same time. His vision blurred. Light shattered across his eyes. Then- Everything stopped. Their bodies hit the ground with a dull thud. For several seconds neither of them moved. The world around them was quiet. Too quiet. Damien gasped for air, his hands pressing into the cold, damp soil beneath him. He slowly pushed himself up. His head was spinning. He expected glowing skies. Floating mountains. Magic humming in the air the way it did in Aetherborn. But instead- He saw trees. Plain trees. Tall, rough-barked trunks stretching upward into a gray sky. No glowing leaves. No magical currents. Just win

Morning light spilled gently through the tall windows of Seraphine's room. The academy grounds were unusually calm today, as if the world itself was holding its breath. Seraphine stood beside her bed, folding the last few clothes into a small travel bag. She paused for a moment, looking around the room. It felt strange. Only a few weeks ago this had been just a temporary place while she figured out what Aetherborn Academy even was. Now it felt like home. She closed the bag slowly. Today she would return to the human world. Not forever. Just long enough to settle the pieces of the life she had left behind. Her mind drifted back to the conversation she had earlier with Damien. He had agreed to go with her but the decision hadn't been easy. They had met in one of the quieter gardens near the academy towers. For the first time since the essence transfer, Seraphine noticed how different Damien felt. The golden aura that once surrounded him as a dragon prince was completely gone.

The fire in the Four Lodge burned quietly behind them. After the brief conversation inside, Lucien cleared his throat. "Seraphine," he said smoothly, "may I speak with you for a moment?" Seraphine looked at him for a second before nodding. "Alright." They stepped out of the lodge and into the courtyard. Lucien walked slowly beside her before stopping near the stone fountain at the center of the courtyard. For a moment he said nothing. Then he turned to her. "I suppose we should talk about... us." Seraphine crossed her arms lightly. "There isn't really much to talk about." Lucien raised an eyebrow. "Isn't there?" His voice was calm, but there was an edge beneath it. "You chose me," he reminded her. Seraphine looked at him steadily. "For the Moonlight Ball." "We kissed," he continued. "You said you wanted to see where things could go between us." Seraphine exhaled slowly. "Yes. I remember." Lucien stepped closer, lowering his voice."So, imagine my confusion when you suddenl

The Great Hall shimmered with ancient power. Towering pillars carved from celestial crystal stretched toward a glowing dome ceiling where constellations slowly moved like living stars. Divine energy filled the vast chamber, humming quietly in the air. At the far end of the hall stood the Thrones. Massive seats of power carved from luminous stone, each one radiating the presence of beings far older than the academy itself. They were known across the realm as the Keepers of Balance, the rulers who watched over the fate of the entire Aetherborn world. Rows of council members filled the chamber below them. Elders. Magisters. High nobles of every supernatural house. All of them had gathered to witness the girl who had saved their world. At the center of the hall stood Seraphine. Seraphine Emberlain stood calmly despite the overwhelming attention. Her posture was steady, though the divine energy of the chamber pressed heavily against her senses. She had never felt so many powerf

Soft light filtered through the tall crystal windows of the academy infirmary. The air smelled faintly of healing herbs and magic. Seraphine slowly stirred. Her body felt heavy, like she had slept for a hundred years. For a moment she simply lay there, staring at the unfamiliar white ceiling above her. Then memory rushed back. The battle. The AetherCurrent. The Aetherstar. Her eyes snapped open. She pushed herself upright too quickly. "Easy!" Three voices said at once. Seraphine blinked in confusion. Standing around her bed were three very familiar faces. Caleb leaned forward immediately, relief written all over his face. "You're awake." Beside him, Mina clapped a hand over her mouth in excitement. "Oh my stars, she's really awake!" And next to her stood Lyra, whose eyes were already shining with tears. Seraphine stared at them. "You're... all here?" Before she could say anything else, Mina threw her arms around her. "You scared us half to death!" Caleb laughed in r

The Headmaster finally looked at the four boys and what he said next made the air turn cold. "She is dying." The words struck like lightning. "No." Kade's growl was immediate. "There must be something you can do." Alaric's crimson eyes narrowed dangerously."You're the most powerful mage alive. Fix it." Damien's hands trembled. "Please..." But the Headmaster did not move. "There is a way," he said slowly. Hope flickered in their eyes. Then he continued. "But it requires a sacrifice." The word landed heavily. "What kind of sacrifice?" Lucien asked carefully. The Headmaster looked directly at them. "One of you must give her your essence." Silence swallowed the courtyard. Damien blinked. "My... essence?" The Headmaster nodded. "Your essence is the core of what you are. Your magic. Your identity. Your supernatural bloodline." His voice remained steady. "If one of you transfers that essence to Seraphine, it will replace the life force she burned away." Kade's grip tight
