Isla~

"You must be Boss Dante's wife."

I looked up at the blond woman with brown eyes, who was standing at a height of about 6 foot. From her accent, I could tell she was Russian.

I narrowed my eyes at her outstretched hands, refusing to shake her.

"You must be the new babysitter." I retorted, leaning back on my seat and folding my arms.

"I don't like you already."

The woman rolled her eyes at her comment like she was already used to it, plopping herself down on a sofa and making herself comfortable.

"I'm not surprised." She smirked, turning her eyes to the TV show I had been watching.

"He did say you have an attitude problem."

My eyebrows furrowed and I clenched my fists at her words. I couldn't still believe that this was really happening, that I was being assigned to a fucking babysitter.

"I'm here to fix that."

"I'm not a fucking child!" I seethed, jumping up from my seat as if it would prove my point.

She arched a brow at me.

"Looks like I'm going to need a swear jar."

  • What The Don Wants   Deal

Isla~Clearly, I had underestimated Jake...or whoever he had become now.The man in front of me was someone...different from the boy I once fell in love with. I knew that from the moment I set eyes on him tonight. And it only got clearer with each passing second.I was dealing with someone far dangerous."You remember the last time." "When his men beat you half to death right in the middle of the road? When I had to beg for your life like a dog? Do you remember that?"I had thought those words would get to to him, make him tremble in fear. But the only emotion I managed to get from him was anger...and maybe even a slight hint of irritation.I had intended to get under his skin. However, he seemed to be thicker now. Tougher.I watched him walk toward a nearby table, where a lamp was glowing softly. His strides were powerful and effortless. He was like a man who had everything figured out."Fuck this," Kayla muttered, her voice sharp with nerves as she turned toward the door, her arm

  • What The Don Wants   Bloodstained

Isla ~My legs felt numb. My chest, tight.I stared at him, unable to believe what my eyes were showing me. Jake. Alive. Breathing. Smiling that smug, polished grin that had once charmed the naive girl I used to be.But it wasn't the shock that broke me.It was the betrayal.I turned sharply, eyes blazing, jaw clenched. For the first time, I was actually mad at Kayla. "You lured me here?" I snapped, my voice trembling with anger as I faced Kayla. She didn't flinch. She didn't cry. She didn't even look guilty.Instead, she rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. "Don't be so dramatic."My stomach twisted. "Are you seriously going to stand there and act like this is normal? You called me in the middle of the night, sobbing about your father! You begged me to come!""I did need your help," she said flatly. "But not in the way you thought."I stared at her, eyes widening in disbelief."So this was all a setup? For him?" I gestured toward Jake, whose presence behind me buzzed like a viper wa

  • What The Don Wants   From the shadows

Isla ~The wind howled against the car, rushing past in bursts of cold air that cut through the night like invisible blades. My fingers gripped the steering wheel so tight, my knuckles had gone pale. The car sped along the near-empty highway, its engine growling in protest as I pushed it faster than I ever dared before.I didn't tell Dante I was leaving.I didn't tell anyone. But I wasn't worried about that. I knew him. He would find me. There was a tracker in the car, something he decided to install in case of times like this. He would be furious, probably beyond that. But he would find me.Right now, all that mattered was Kayla. Her voice still echoed in my ears, fragile and trembling."Isla..." she had choked out through sobs. "I... I found him. I found my father."I had frozen in place. The room spun.Kayla was calling, reaching out to me. She needed me."But I need help, Isla. I need to save him, keep him alive. I don't have anyone else to call."Her voice cracked on the last

  • What The Don Wants   Fragile

Dante~The bathroom lights shone softly above me, casting a gentle glow over the steamed-up mirror. I stood there in the center of it all, wrapped in silence of my glaring insecurities. The lace lingerie Dante had picked out clung tightly to my curves, delicate and daring in ways I wasn't quite used to. It was barely a bikini; black and sheer, with thin straps that did nothing to hold my breasts in place. And God, they looked huge. Swollen. Heavy.Pregnancy was already changing me. And at just six freaking weeks! My hands ghosted over the new swell of my hips, the very subtle roundness forming at my lower belly. The fabric cut into my skin just slightly. The mirror showed everything. And what I saw... didn't feel like me.I frowned. How was this supposed to be sexy?Sure, I had worn little things before, teased Dante in the bedroom, but this... this felt different. I didn't feel like a goddess. I felt exposed. Out of place in my own skin. What if he didn't like what he saw? What if he

  • What The Don Wants   Possessive

Isla ~The artificial glow of mall lights buzzed above me, flickering faintly with a constant, annoying hum. Shiny floors reflected high-end brand logos and tired faces, all tangled in the chaotic ballet of Saturday shopping.I sighed for what felt like the hundredth time that afternoon. My hand ran gently over the soft cotton of a pale pink maternity dress, wrinkling my nose in silent disapproval before putting it back on the rack. Too frilly. The next one was too loose. The next one had prints that made me want to vomit.Literally."Ugh," I groaned under my breath, rubbing my lower abdomen gently. Nothing was showing just yet, but I knew it wouldn't be long before my regular wardrobe started to betray me.I moved on to another section; neutral tones, basic cuts. Still nothing exciting. Still nothing... me.And behind me, like a goddamn shadow stitched to my heels, stood Miguel. He hadn't said a word the entire time we walked into the mall. He was just... there. Quiet. Sharp-eye

  • What The Don Wants   Everything

Dante ~"He's holed up near the docks," Marco was saying, sliding a photo across the table toward me."We spotted him twice last week. He’s getting comfortable."I leaned forward, studying the image under the low-hanging chandelier light.Ghost's latest lapdog. Another pawn I'd have to remove before the board got more complicated."Keep eyes on him. But don't move yet," I said calmly."I want to know who he's reporting to before we make him disappear."Marco gave a tight nod, just as the doors to the living room flung open with a loud crash. And then...hell released its latest fury."Bastard!"The screech hit me like a slap to the face.My head whipped up just in time to see a glass bottle flying straight toward my skull."Shit!" I ducked. The bottle shattered against the wall behind me with a violent crash, shards scattering across the marble floor. What the actual...And there she was.Isla.Hair wild, eyes blazing, chest heaving like she had just sprinted across a battlefield. Her
