Chapter 4- Kaivan

A few weeks back;

~Kaivan Arnand's Point of View~

This week has been an exhausting one. I desperately needed an effing break. So when my brother suggested he'd take over while I take a walk outside and get a little fresh air, I took it without a second thought.

I've been cooped up in my office for the past few weeks, signing, making calls, trying to put everything in order because it seems my employees are incapable of it. I also fired six people this week, from the IT department and the finance department, because they simply chose the wrong time to mess up. The frustration and annoyance I had kept in me was released onto them and in the blink of an eye , six of my staffs were gone.

"Just go out for some fresh air. Get some coffee, go to the park or something," My brother had said to me. And that is exactly what I am doing.

The moment I step into the Café, I'm greeted with an heavenly scent and the beautiful view of civilians chattering softly amongst themselves, drinking, eating and just simply doing their own things.

I got myself some coffee to go and turn towards the exit. On my way towards the door, I bumped into a smaller body, knocking the contents in both our hands onto the floor. My coffee fell down with a splash, drops of it getting on my crisp suit. The smaller person-- a human, gasped as her bag also dropped to the floor. She crouched down to pick it up, carefully picking up the fallen contents so it doesn't get more soaked with the spilled coffee.

"Let me help," I got down on one knee to help her pick them up and put in the bag. We both reach for a small jewelry box and I feel something I've never felt before. A zap. Electric, nerve breaking, bone chilling...a connection. My eyes turned a shade darker, my wolf taking it's place as it's silver orbs replace my blue ones. It ran wild and growled the same words over and over.

"Mine. Ours. Our mate. She's our mate,"

"Mate." I whispered, finding it hard to believe but at the same time excited.

"Thank you for helping me," My eyes changed back to it's original color and I rose my gaze to meet hers. She had the most beautiful set of brown eyes I'd ever seen.

Brown skin, brown eyes, dark hair, full diamond shaped lips. Oh how badly I wanted to kiss those lips.

"I'll buy you another coffee." She suggested. My lips tugged up into an amused smile. I chuckled under my breath as we both stood straight.

"I'm the one meant to be offering to buy you coffee, darling. I bumped into you afterall." I told her.

"I don't drink coffee," She pouted her lips. Again I'd like to say, oh how badly I wanted to kiss them. Gawd!

"And we bumped into each other so I think it's fair if we both buy each other a drink." She shrugged her shoulders with a smile. I smiled back because her gorgeous smile was just too damn contagious.

We made our way over to a table and sat together. We talked, ordered for each other- black coffee for me, and a Cappuccino for her. I got to know a few things about her. Her name, age, ethnicity, her favorite color, favorite drink and favorite singer.

She'd fiddle with the bracelet when she talks, or play with her hair. When she smiled, her eyes lit up and basically lit the entire fucking room. Her perfect white teeth would come out and if you'd look closely, you'd notice she had small dimples, but on just one side of her face. It didn't go that deep inside, but when she smiled, her dimple would show. It was both cute and absolutely beautiful. Everything about her was beautiful. I couldn't get over the fact that I had a mate still.

A human mate.

Now that was going to be a slight problem. I almost cursed at the moon goddess for giving me a human mate after making me wait years for one. But then Didi smiled at me and it suddenly didn't matter. No matter how difficult it would be, I'd make her mine, because she was mine.

Ours.

She was ours.

An old seer had told my father when we were little that my brother and I would be sharing a mate. We we're basically one person so the moon goddess was going to give us a woman for the both of us. One who was beautiful, strong, independent and who we would love and cherish and who would love and cherish us back. One whom we'd spend the rest of eternity with. Loving, caring for, protecting.

We anticipated our mate's arrival at our sixteenth birthday, but she never came. We didn't meet her a year after, two years, three years, five years!

Kaysen told me the moon goddess was punishing us. I remember always asking why she would do that. We never did anything wrong, did we? Why would she deprive us of the joy of being with our soulmate? Meeting her and getting to hold her forever?

Kaysen turned bitter, non-challant, and unlike me, gave up hope of finding her and went on to chase other women. Kaysen stopped being a virgin at twenty one. He got in and out of many short term relationships, hook ups and one night stands. He lived his life, in his words, to the fullest. Drugs, girls and booze. They were his favorite activities.

I was also starting to loose hope of finding her, but I also didn't feel good about betraying her. Kaysen called me a prude and I let him. Me being intimate with another woman felt like betrayal. Yes, I'd kiss some of them, give them head or let them give me head when I felt sexually frustrated, but I never let it get past that. I never had sex with any of them. I just couldn't bring myself to doing so.

Now here I was, Nine years of waiting for her and she was sitting right in front of me.

Our beautiful mate.

I watch her with a soft gaze as she takes a large bite out of her jammed donut, getting some at the side of her mouth. My phone rings and I pick it up from the table without breaking eye contact with the beautiful woman.

"Yes?"

"Kaivan...," My brother's breathless voice steals my attention. I break eye contact with pretty Didi and sit up straight.

"I... I feel wierd.... I feel like a part of me that was dead just came back to life. Do you understand? Please tell me I'm not just imagining it, brother. Please-"

I smile and stare at our beautiful mate who's attention is solely on the donut she is having, "I found her, Kace," I say equally as breathless as him. I hear his heavy breathing, that soon turns into chuckles. Then a laughter filled with happiness.

"You-, you found her, Kai? Our mate?" I can hear his smile through the phone.

"Yes,"
