“W-What?” my voice came out louder than I intended.

Vivienne laughed softly. “I know. It sounds crazy. But he’s different, Elara. I’ve met a lot of men, but there’s something different about him.”

I inhaled slowly, forcing myself to stay calm. My friend had a crush on Rhett Alaric.

Of all people.

Rhett.

“You know him pretty well, then,” I said, forcing a smile.

“Yes. My father has met him several times for business. Sometimes I go with Dad to events, and Rhett is usually there.”
