SERAPHINA

Ronan said he took care of the hunter then who was this?

Phina growled in my mind, “It seems there were two hunters in this trial!”

I clenched my fists. This was a disaster. Twists were expected in a trial but the timing could not be worse. It was already dawn! And the hunter was living up to his name.

Ronan and the hunter were a blur of claws and fury.

I could barely keep up, my eyes straining to follow the deadly choreography unfolding in front of me. Every time I thought I caught the edge of a movement, another strike came from a different angle, faster, sharper, impossibly precise. The sounds were sickening: the clash of bone against bone, the hiss of air whistling around claws that could tear through skin and soul alike, and the low, guttural growls that rumbled from deep within both their chests.

Ronan moved like a storm, his body a weapon forged by rage and purpose. The hunter, however, was no less terrifying. He was lithe and silent, crouched low with a bone-white

  • When The Moon Hides Her Crown   278. A MISTAKE

THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW After a quick check of the grounds, Petal made her way to the grand hall, her stone throne waiting for her. She sat down calling, “Donna,”“My queen,” Donna stepped forward, her voice respectful but familiar.Donna was the first woman Petal had taken in at Elysium Haven, half human, half werewolf. After recovering from her trauma and being trained as a warrior, Donna had chosen to stay with Petal, becoming her shadow within the Elysium Haven. “Out of the seven women who arrived at Elysium Haven half a year ago, one wished to leave. She feels confident enough to find her lost child and survive in the outside world, while the others have chosen to stay and serve. They wish to guard the borders,” Donna reported, her tone proud.Petal smiled gently. “That’s good to know. Tell them that, although she leaves the Elysium Haven, she will always be remembered here.”Donna bowed. “I will.”The women leaving the Elysium Haven would leave as the best versions of them

  • When The Moon Hides Her Crown   277. ELYSIUM HAVEN

THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW Using her powers, Petal managed to make her way back to her territory, though she had no idea how far she had run or how many hours had passed. Not once had she stopped to catch her breath. What she did know, more than anything, was that it wasn’t fear that had driven her to return with such urgency. No, it was something else...something deeper. It was the need to confirm what she had seen.“So, he really is real…” Her voice barely broke the silence as she stopped into the garden of flowers, her wide eyes fixated on the cliff before her. What should have been a waterfall and a cave was now just...nothing. The landscape was unchanged, but it was as if it had never existed at all.Slowly, she sank to the ground among the flowers, her gaze fixed on the place where the waterfall and cave should have been. Her mind felt foggy as reality slowly began to sink in. The man she had been seeing and talking to in her dreams since she turned eighteen...only he wasn’t ju

  • When The Moon Hides Her Crown   276. THE LYCAN

THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEWHe didn’t look away. His violet eyes remained locked on her face, as if memorizing every little detail, committing her to memory with an intensity that sent shivers down her spine. His gaze held a mixture of longing and recognition, as if he’d been waiting for this moment for far longer than she could understand. Her breath hitched as she felt the heat of his chest against hers. Her breasts rose and fell with each shaky breath, brushing against his firm, bare skin. The sensation sent a wave of both panic and strange curiosity through her. Neither of them moved. Their eyes stayed locked, as if time itself had stopped around them, and in that moment, it felt like nothing else existed except the undeniable pull between them."Who are you?" he whispered, his hot breath brushing her lips.Petal blinked, her pulse racing feeling as if she had heard his voice before as she whispered back, "I can’t tell you."His gaze moved from her red eyes to her shivering lips. • When The Moon Hides Her Crown   275. THE BEAST

THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW“No…” she gasped, her lungs burning as she fought the current, her limbs aching from the struggle. She could not control her body from being taken by the current and for a moment she thought that the river had almost claimed her, and that she would be drawn to death but with one final surge of strength, she pushed herself onto the bank. Her body trembled from exhaustion and she gasped harder with her heart beating like a wild horse. She collapsed onto the damp earth, blinking against the cold mist, trying to steady her breath. After a long time she slowly pushed herself up, and looked around her eyes widened in shock. The trees around her were unfamiliar—twisted, dark, and looming. The scent of the forest was strange, and the air felt too foreign. “Where am I?” Petal whispered, her voice shaking as she realized with horror that she had been swept far from her territory into an unknown place. In the past twenty years, she had never left the temple, and th

  • When The Moon Hides Her Crown   274. DREAM

THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW “Let’s go.” As she walked through the middle of the temple courtyard, everyone bowed in reverence, as they always did. They had watched her grow, yet every time they saw her, it was as if they were seeing her for the first time happy, smiling, radiating an energy that never ceased to amaze them.Silas followed her across the courtyard, holding open the large wooden door to the room. The moment Petal stepped inside, the couple in the room was stilled by the pureness and positivity that radiated from her. Both of them were blindfolded, so they could not see her, but they could feel the energy shift as soon as Petal entered.“Please follow the rules and keep the blindfolds on,” Silas said, his voice firm but respectful. No outsiders were allowed to see the Blood Petal. No one had ever seen her in the past twenty years. The curtains fluttered softly in the wind as Petal gently moved one aside and approached the woman lying on the bed. The woman was breathing e

  • When The Moon Hides Her Crown   273. THE BLOOD PETAL

THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW NINE HUNDRED YEARS AGOWhen the Goddess cried from heartbreak, a single tear fell to the earth, and where it landed, a beautiful white flower bloomed. As the flower opened, a baby with striking red eyes and a petal mark between her brows lay among the petals. Since she was born from the petals, she was named Blood Petal.Years later, having grown into a woman in her twenties, she sat by a waterfall gazing at her reflection in the surface of the water, her fingers dancing lightly over the surface before she swiftly snatched a large fish from the stream. “I caught it!” she exclaimed, proudly holding the fish up as she beamed at the man standing beneath the cave’s overhang. “I won! And this time, five seconds earlier!”The man smirked, an amused glint in his sharp eyes. With a simple flick of his hand, he made all the fish leap out of the water and swim toward him. “I don’t think so,” he said quietly, watching her with a knowing smile. She stood up, fists cl
