Chapter 1: Crazy Woman

“Good morning Mrs. Jasmine!” A woman wearing an apron and carrying a tray greeted. Her greetings were addressed to the fair lady who laid on her bed with her palm on her head.

“Please drop it there and leave! I would not want to be disturbed this morning?” The lady said to the woman who dropped the tray. She was one of the many maids in the mansion.

“You did not have to be rude to the maid. Ruth has been working in this mansion even before you came in as my wife”. A man’s voice could be heard in the room. But he was completely out of the woman’s sight.

“Good for you! Same reason your family thinks I should not be your wife because your girlfriend was there before me and she could have probably bore an heir”. Jasmine said.

The man walked out of his dressing room. He looked ready for work. He stood by the bed. He pulled up Jasmine and asked her to take her medication. But she refused. She told him he was pathetic.

“By going against my family in keeping you? Or by trying to make you take your medication?” He asked. She took the water from the tray and splashed it on his face.

“How dare you act like you know nothing? Your mistress is pregnant and your family wants me out of the house. The fact that you married me and refused to leave that girlfriend of yours Fabian, that is what makes you pathetic”. Jasmine said.

Fabian raised a brow staring deeply into Jasmine’s eyes.

“But you are my wife, are you not? I do take care of our daughter too. So why are you insatiable?” Fabian asked. Jasmine smirked.

“I hope you die for this betrayal”. She said. Fabian told her she was out of her mind to say such a thing. He called for the maid to bring in water for his wife. While he went to change his outfit. There was no way he was going to work looking the way he did with the water that had wet his clothes.

“I will take Aria and leave this goddamn house if you do not drop your relationship with your mistress and make her terminate her pregnancy”. Jasmine yelled after Fabian. Then she pushed down the tray. She didn’t care about the glass breaking or that she was wasting medicine.

“Mrs Jasmine!” The maid called the woman’s attention. The face of the maid tells how horrified she was by the scene Jasmine has created.

“Call me Jasmine! I am no Mrs”. Jasmine said. Ruth didn’t know how to reply to this. She picked up the tray and the pieces of glass that was all over the floor. Then she proceeded to sweep the floor to prevent any accident that might occur from tiny pieces of glass that could still be on the floor.

“What the hell happened here?” Fabian asked when he came out of the dressing room wearing a different suit from the one he had wore. He had initially wore a gray business suit. But now he was wearing a navy blue suit.

Jasmine eyes him disdainfully. She got up from the bed and walked out of the room.

“Crazy woman!” Fabian muttered. The maid left after she was done cleaning. While Fabian took his briefcase in his hand and left the room.

“Sir! Breakfast has been served”. A woman who seemed to be the head of the maids said to him. Fabian told her to give the food to the maids or throw them away.

“Sir?” The woman replied in a questioning manner that showed she had not expected what he said or must have not heard him right.

“Do not let that woman have food till I return. Give Aria what she wants. But not Jasmine!” Fabian said. There was this authority in his voice that connotes his words not to be joked with.

The woman watched as Fabian left the house. She wondered why he would give such an instruction to them. Why would he want to starve his wife?

“Ruth, what happened in that room?” The head maid asked.

“Mrs. Jasmine went wild. I think Mr. Fabian is provoked by her attitude. She refused her medication and broke the glass”. Ruth, the maid who had witnessed what happened in the room said.

“Aria is four years old and they still won’t live in peace”. The woman said. She shook her head. Then she told Ruth to throw away the food that no one was going to eat in the house since the lady of the house will be starving as well.

“Madam Clautra?” Ruth half yelled. The woman asked if Ruth wanted her to repeat herself. She shook her head and told her she would do as instructed.

“If Jasmine went wild, it is probably because she is fed up. I do not blame her. I would do worst if I were to be in her shoe”. Madam Clautra, the head maid said.

Then she climbed up the stairs. She walked into one of the rooms at the end. There was a name tag on the door, “Aria”.

When Madam Clautra got into the room, she found a little girl playing. A smile embraced the woman’s face at the sight of this. The girl was vibrant. She was admiring the little girl and had not noticed on time that Jasmine was there.

“Why are you here?” Jasmine asked. She sounded hostile.

“I just wanted to check on Aria! I did not know you would be here with her”. The woman said.

“I will take care of my daughter today. Do not let the nanny come here”. Jasmine said. Madam Clautra told Jasmine she will do as told.

“Aria will also have her food here in her room. So have it sent here”. Jasmine said yet again to madam Clautra who took her orders and left.

It seemed to her that Jasmine herself cared less about her stomach because unlike Jasmine, she was yet to asked what they prepared for breakfast.
