Chapter 2: Never Been Addressed As Mrs. Fabian

Aria’s food was brought to Aria’s room. Jasmine despite knowing Aria could feed herself refused Aria from doing that. She fed Aria. Then dressed the little girl up. She told Aria not to dirty her dress nor get it rumbled. She left Aria’s room after giving the little girl that instruction.

“Mommy! Are we going to see Kelvin?” Little Aria had asked her mother before she completely went out of sight.

The only time they left the house was when they are going to see her mother’s best friend who has a son, “Kelvin”. Aria takes it that they were going to Kelvin’s place.

“No questions now Aria!” Jasmine had said before finally disappearing from Aria’s room.

Jasmine went to her shared room with Fabian, her husband. Instead of taking her bath, Jasmine just took of her sleeping garment. She dressed herself in a pair of jeans and a black top. Then left the room with a bag hanging over her shoulder.

Jasmine went back to get her daughter Aria. She carried the four year old and left with her.

“Mrs. Jasmine!” Madam Clautra called when she caught sight of the woman carrying the four year old and heading towards the main door that leads out of the house.

Jasmine turned to look at the head maid in the house. She asked her what made her call out to her.

“Are you going somewhere? Mr. Fabian has always made it a point that you do not leave the house without letting anyone know. You do understand what I mean Mrs. Jasmine?” Madam Clautra said to Jasmine.

“Oh well! Fuck Fabian then!” Jasmine said. According to Fabian, Jasmine was never to go anywhere without informing the head maid who would in turn inform him that it is, if it was important. And she had not informed him before he left the house.

Jasmine felt irritated all of a sudden that madam Clautra still stood unmoving.

“You always call me Mrs. Jasmine, did I marry myself? It should have been Mrs. Fabian. But it is all good, I don’t care anymore. But don’t you try to tail on me on his behalf”. Jasmine said. She was not hiding how she felt. She carried her daughter and walked out of the house. She was going out and nobody was going to stop her.

Jasmine got out of the mansion and out of it’s gate. She walked down the street with Aria in her arms. Luckily for her, she found an empty cab. She took it.

“PMP district, street Y” Jasmine said to the driver.

Aria on hearing her mother mention their destination brightened up. They were going to see Kelvin. At least she would get to be with her playmate that day.

“I’m going to see Kelvin!” Aria said excitedly. Jasmine smiled. At least her daughter’s happiness could make her smile.

They finally got to there destination. Jasmine carried her daughter out of the car after paying the cab fare. She took the elevator to the third floor. On arrival, she got out and knocked on the first apartment she saw.

“Mommy, ring the bell”. Aria said. Jasmine seemed like she was not listening because she continued knocking.

A blonde haired lady came to open the door. She looked Jasmine up, her eyes were full of pity.

“Come on in”. She said to Jasmine while she took Aria from Jasmine.

“You look like you would need a bucket of popcorn and the world’s tissues”. The woman said. Then she announced that Aria was around. She seemed to be directing that message to her son. Because as soon as she said that, a little lad ran into the living room with a ball in his hand.

“Aria!” He called. He was as excited to see his friend just as she was to see him.

“Diana, what I need right now is a superhero to come whisk me out and take me to outter space”. Jasmine said.

“You will be needing superman then”. Kelvin said. Jasmine just moulded her lips together and blinked her eyes at him. Diana shook her head. She dropped Aria and told Kelvin they could go play together. So Kelvin took his friend with him.

“I wish you had them both and I had none! I would feel better not having Fabian’s child. I would not have been feeling tied down to a man who does not love me”. Jasmine said out of the blue.

Her friend asked her not to say such things.

“You and Fabian should go for a marriage counseling”. Diana adviced. Jasmine laughed mockingly. What Diana has just said seemed absurd to her ears.

“And why will someone as wealthy as Fabian with a big name go for marriage counseling? If the counselor see that it’s his fault, it will ruin his reputation. And he wants to protect that at all cost. That is why he is still pretending like he wants to keep me by his side”. Jasmine said.

“I hate him! I hate his family too. They fucking want me and my daughter out of his house”. Jasmine said.

Diana pulled Jasmine into a hug. She pats her back and tried to soothe her with words of “it is okay” and “you will be fine”. While she tried to soothe Jasmine, Jasmine just let the tears roll off her eyes and greet her cheeks while taking a stroll to her chin.

“I’ve never been addressed as Mrs. Fabian. They keep calling me Mrs. Jasmine. Fabian treats me like a dog. He got his fucking mistress pregnant”. Jasmine said amidst sobs.

“Holy cow! He did?” Diana gnashed her teeth.

“Girl, you should leave that bastard!” Diana said. She looked like she already made the decision for Jasmine. She had broken out from the hug and had rolled up her sleeves.

“Why are you even wearing that seeing that you are at home?” Jasmine asked.

“Because I was about going out until you called and said you were coming. I didn’t think I should undress because I had cancelled my plans for the day”. Diana said.

Jasmine told her that she was sorry for ruining her plans. Diana told her not to mind and that it’s what friends do for their friends.

“I’m hungry though”. Jasmine said. She fell her back on the couch and fixed her gaze on the ceiling. One would think she was watching the night stars.
