Retired teacher Ryder Jensen appears on a talk show. His former students are spread across every field, with many becoming CEOs and renowned scientists. But when asked who left the deepest impression, his smile turns bitter. "The one who completely ruined his life. He was the top student in his grade, yet he dated the class' bottom-ranked delinquent. To save his future, I intercepted his love letter, rewrote it as a scathing roast, and read it out loud at a parent-teacher meeting. That broke them up. "But things didn't go as planned. He failed his exams, while that delinquent made it into a top-tier college and became a financial tycoon. Life has a cruel sense of humor." Saddened by the story, the host asks if Ryder has any words for that student. Ryder lets out a long breath, tears welling in his eyes. "He wouldn't hear me anyway. He was diagnosed with leukemia and couldn't afford the treatment. He passed away three years ago." The interview segment is clipped and posted online, instantly blowing up on social media. Meanwhile, Eliza Woods, the woman at the heart of the story, has no idea. She just wrapped up an international finance conference and is rushing to buy a top-tier graphics card for her fiance, Theo Holland.

Chapter 1

Theo Holland's handsome face popped up on the screen. "Remember to get there early. It's a limited edition, and I'll be devastated if you miss it."

Half of Eliza Woods' exhaustion vanished. Her gaze softened. "Mission accepted. Wait for me to come home. I had the butler pick up the tortelloni you love. You've had a poor appetite lately, so you need to eat more."

Smiling, Theo held up the plate of tortelloni to show her. "Got it. I really have to thank your ex for training you so well. Looks like I'm reaping all the benefits."

Eliza's expression froze, and she blinked in helpless frustration. "How many times do I have to tell you? I've been single my whole life. I've never dated anyone."

Floating quietly in midair, I didn't miss the subtle shift in her expression.

At the mention of an "ex", a flash of pure disgust crossed her eyes.

Eliza hated me—deeply.

That letter of mine hadn't just shattered her carefully maintained dignity. It had triggered her mother's heart attack, leaving her in a vegetative state to this day.

Fueled by that hatred, she had gotten into a top-tier college, secured funding to start her own business, became a financial tycoon, and got engaged to Theo from an old-money background.

So, I understood why she denied my existence.

After all, when life was going smoothly, people rarely cared to bring up the past, especially when it involved a bitter enemy.

Her assistant, Allan Gibson, checked the schedule and reminded Eliza, "We'll be passing by the TV station. Your former homeroom teacher, Ryder Jensen, is doing an interview there. Would you like to drop off some flowers? He's a renowned educator now. A little media exposure would be good publicity for the company."

Woods Corp was on the rise and needed publicity.

Eliza nodded. She genuinely wanted to thank Ryder anyway.

If he hadn't exposed my malicious intent back then, she would still be fooled by me, let alone achieve everything she had today.

Ryder appeared under the flashing camera lights. He was older now but still full of energy.

Looking through the crowd, he recognized Eliza immediately as she held the bouquet.

"I never expected you to come see me. What a pleasant surprise."

Eliza offered a polite smile as she handed over the flowers. "I've been so busy these past few years and haven't kept in touch. That's on me. If you're free, I'd love to take you out to dinner to make it up to you."

Ryder smiled warmly and patted her shoulder. "Make it tonight, then. Your old class is having a reunion. You should come."

Eliza remained silent.

Noticing her hesitation, Ryder added quietly, "Don't worry. He won't be there."

Leaving things unsaid was part of the grace and dignity of being an adult.

The reunion grew lively the moment Eliza arrived.

Eventually, someone who had had too much to drink raised a glass, his face flushed.

"The last time things were this lively was when Eliza and Samuel got busted for dating. Man, it's been seven years."

The buzzing room instantly fell dead silent. Everyone stole glances at Eliza, watching for her reaction.

Eliza simply smiled and took a sip of her wine. "Who's Samuel?"
