Chapter 23: Unexpected
It was my fifteenth time staring at the unexpected message on my phone that morning.

I smiled again as I reread the three words that Hunter sent to me. It touched me so much, I shed a little tear. Seeing it confirmed to me that everything was okay with us, something I had been afraid of. Now that he had sent me this, I wondered if I should continue with the plan I had. It was difficult to not respond to it, but I prevailed against the urge; hurriedly, I took the bowl of milk I had prepared for a slightly calm Louise. I was wondering what made him that scared, when the doorbell rang. I ran to it after seeing to Louise. I opened the door, only to see someone I never expected to see in the nearest future. The shock kept me rooted to the spot, unable to talk or move even though I was happy to see his face.
