Chapter 11

Jace's POV

Next day,

A violent earthquake was going rampant in my chest. I don't know why I feel this way after hearing Jenna. She said she'll stay for our son. That's good, right. Unlike other women, she was willing to compromise her life for the child we unexpectedly created.

Still, a part of me is not convinced. I mean, I am everything a woman desires. I have good looks. A hot body. The power and money any woman would drool at the sight of, but not her. She has never once asked me about my money or my personal life.

She's always occupied with Jared. Whenever I go to her room— we don't share a room although I spend most of my time with her in her room when I'm in the cottage because of Jared— I see her doing something for Jared.

Sometimes she's changing diapers. Sometimes she is feeding him. Sometimes she's washing his clothes (yeah, she does all that herself) or the other time she's playing with the spiky silver hair he's growing. It's like there's only one purpose of her life— Be there for Jared.

I'm not mad about that. In fact, I am glad my son's biological mother is so caring of him. It's difficult to find such women. What I don't like is... What about her? She's lost herself completely and that makes me mad.

It's as though her life revolves only around Jared.

'Liar. You're mad because she ignores the beastly lust you always wear on your face.'

'You piece of shit wolf!' I howled in chagrin.

'What, you annoyed? I don't understand why. You like that woman but you can't tell it to her face. She's not going to get a dream, okay! Some things can only be acknowledged if you communicate.'

Biting my lip, I looked down at the floor. That's the problem. I can't tell her that I like her. It's... It's difficult. Like how do you even do it?

Even with my fated mate, I never told her that I love her. To be blunt, I was a jerk in the past to my mate. When she came, I just accepted her because a mate is very important for an Alpha King.

Alphas can reject their mates and face the consequences with full-on force, we can't. A mate is important.

My mate was sweet and cute. But I never felt this way for her. Will you hate me if I confess I was relieved she died during a Rogue attack?

'I don't hate you.' Pain oozed from my wolf's soft voice. 'Kiara was too good for the world. She would've become a weakness to us if she were still alive.'

Kiara was a human and she was too innocent to even be my mate. I tried to protect her, but that night I couldn't and I lost her. I miss her sometimes because of the peace I felt in her presence... I never found it again.

Until Jenna arrived. I feel peaceful around her. I feel with her like you should feel around your mate.

"Jace," I blinked and composed myself before I turned around to see Jenna standing at the door of my room.

"Is Jared asleep?" I asked and stood there like a statue.

Jenna looked stunning in simple black track pants and a dark blue top. She's been working out a bit to reduce her stomach and it's working.

"Yeah, I just put him to sleep. Jace, I was meaning to ask you about the marriage ceremony. I was thinking of doing it privately."

"Me too," He smiled. "Jenna,"

"Hmmm," She stopped beside me by the window and held the sill.

"I don't want you to marry me only for Jared."

"Isn't that why you are marrying me— only for Jared!"

"That's the first reason out of many."

She turned to me, "Then what are your other reasons?"

I bore my eyes into hers. The bluest of blue was inviting me to take a dive in. That's the kind of blue you see in the oceans when it's raining. Since I'm a sucker of dangerous things, I wanted to take a dive into this ocean as well, no matter the strong currents.

"Nothing." I told her before my eyes dropped to her mouth.

I've desired to kiss her many times in this one month. Even when she was fast asleep. I just never did because I am resisting the urge. I don't want to do it against her will. And so far, the woman doesn't look interested in me.

"Nothing? But you said you have many reasons." Her chest rose and fell slowly as she blinked.

"You don't have to know." I said as I walked backwards.

Jenna Hemsworth, you don't get to stir my life like this. I'm a man of control and patience, and unless you allow me to enter your life... I'll resist.

Even if it turns my balls blue.

Jenna's POV

A week later,

Wedding day,

I stared at my reflection in the mirror as my hands trembled.

'You look beautiful. Better than last time when you dressed up as a bride.' Gianna complimented as we both saw me in the mirror.

I was standing in a white gown, the veil drawn over my face. It still feels like a dream. My first marriage ended not long ago and here I am standing in a white gown again. I'm a bride again. However, this time I'm not really happy.

My chest is heavy and my heart is pounding. Well, for one, I never thought I'd have any issues with my mate. I thought we were going to be together till death do us part. But that not just ended badly, it also broke my heart and left me drained. Secondly, I knew I won't marry for love (that's if I ever decided to marry again) but I thought I'll be happy.

'I thought you were happy. Our son isn't some low omega's offspring. He's not going to grow up weak. Above all, he won't have to live with the fact that there's no information about his father.' Gianna said.

I tried to smile but that looked weak as tears built in my eyes.

I thought this marriage will be more than a contract. I thought I'd be happy. I'm not. Ever since that day Jace asked me to marry him, he's been weirdly ignorant to me.

He comes but only for Jared. He smiles but only at Jared. He looks longingly but only at Jared. It's like I don't exist. But I used to exist before he asked me whether I was really agreeing to marry him only for Jared.

Isn't that the truth? Jace hadn't made me feel like he wants this marriage for anything other than our son's future. He never mentioned he wants me as his wife too.

I've seen the desires in his eyes. So why can't he put it in words? I really want him to— Because the time we've spent together so far has led me to realize one thing.... I'm falling for Jace.

He doesn't show it but he cares a lot. He respects me more than his son's mother.

I've witnessed him bringing me food when I'm too busy to feed myself. I've felt him cover me at nights when I sleep by Jared's crib, too tired to lift myself. I've seen how he notices every small thing related to me and produces anything I need before I ask for it.

He's a gentleman... And he'll be a good husband. But perhaps, I'm not the wife he wanted.

"Jenna, ready?" My nerves fluttered when I caught his reflection in the mirror.

"Yes." I turned to look at him with my eyes, and goddess, he was looking so erotically stunning.

The black suit was making him look so irresistible.

"You look amazing, Jenna." I looked into his eyes. There was that look again— the look of need.

It disappeared when I blinked like it was not there.

"Where is Jared?" I asked to kill the awkward silence as he came near me.

"With Oakley. They both are going to be my wingmen." I chuckled.

Then he forwarded his hand. I stared at it before looking up into his gray eyes. They were so cold and unreachable.

"Having second thoughts?" He raised a brow.

"No. I'm just..." I trailed off.

"Just what, Jenna?" He came closer.

"Nothing." I said and enjoyed that look of anger that crossed his features. That right there... That is how I felt a week ago, Mr. Alpha King, when you answered the same thing to me.

"Let's go." I said as he refused to move.

~~~
We tied the knot in the forest under a holy tree during the last hour of dusk. The sky was orangish pink and the air was cool. An oracle was called to help us get through. Oakley and some other men, and the maiden who delivered my son were there as witnesses.
Jace and I were standing there while holding hands. The vows were taken. She was binding us in a bond of marriage.
"You both are now bound in marriage with each other. Alpha King Jace, please mark Miss Jenna Hemsworth as your chosen mate to complete this mating ceremony now." The second the oracle said that, my eyes widened in daze.
"C-chosen mate?" I gaped at Jace.
What he said next took not just my breaths but also my heart away.
    Chapter 58 Jace's POV We were silent for a long time. Neither of us spoke. Suddenly Jenna lifted her face and eyes me innocently."What?" I chuckled.She nodded in no, "You burned Liza alive."My face stilled. I pulled her closer and joined our foreheads, "I had to. She was the bane of our family."I kissed her."Also," I added. "She made me doubt my wife's intentions. I had to punish her."At that, she hugged me tighter and rested her face on my shoulder. She was sitting straddling my waist while I held her like my toddler baby.My back had healed. Hence, I was able to sit this way.The doctors had been worried because the wound wasn't healing in my state of unconsciousness. That's the reason why they refused to give any answer. But the second I woke up, the wound healed, and all the residue of wolfsbane and silver was eliminated by my immune system."What happened to Chris and that lady?" I suddenly asked as I remembered those two."Both dead. And that lady was Doctor Henry's daug
    Chapter 57Jenna's POV 'Thanks, bro. Head towards the Rogues' territory with your team. I'll meet you there.''Roger that!''Okay.'We broke the link. I sucked a sharp breath as I focused on the road ahead. If I drive at high speed, I'll get there in twenty minutes.Jenna, hold on for a while, love. Your husband is coming to get you.(Twenty minutes later)"Jace, finally you're here." Oakley came running towards my car as I applied brakes."Did you find her location?" I was not even fully out of the car."Yes, and already stationed our soldiers around the area." Oakley said, sending a wave of relief through me."Thank, goddess.""Don't worry, Jace. The situation is already in our control." Oakley flashed a shark grin and my eyebrows cocked in confusion. "Chris's soldiers look novice. They are not attentive at all, let alone alert.""I think he brought untrained wolves here. And I must add that his Beta and Gamma are not here either."I acknowledged with a nod, "He's probably doing it
    Chapter 56Jenna's POV Jace has never touched her before. He hadn't done it this time either. It's that bìtch who always found ways to go near him.'There's no point in giving yourself false hope, Jenna. Jace isn't the man we thought he was. Accept it.' Gianna said.A feeling of disappointment rose over me. No! My wolf is not right here. She's hurt from Jace's wolf's words, and rest is the impact of wolfsbane.Jace loves us.'You really think that? Then tell me, why didn't he come after us when we left?'he He might have a reason.'No,' Gianna grunted weakly. 'It's because he was bewitched by his mistress's beauty and he chose her instead.'That's not true. I was breathless in anger. Gianna's words struck a chord that it shouldn't have.'I'll prove it to you that Jace still only loves us.'Having that said, I lowered my guard. I had blocked out everyone and their feelings to avoid getting caught. However, as I lowered my guard, I could feel my family's emotions— Jace's first.He was
    Chapter 55Jenna's POVI regained my senses at the feeling of stabbing spasms stretching throughout my body. My eyelids were heavy and so I couldn't drag them open. But my other senses were working well.I could hear and smell and feel my surroundings. The air was crackling with the chirping of thousands of crickets, meaning that I was most likely in a forest area; or where there were a lot of trees.I dragged in a deep breath to catch scents, and realized that wood was burning somewhere. Then I heard the noise of fire crackling. A bonfire. I subtly rubbed my hand on the ground and sensed the coarse texture. Soil.All the elements directed to one point, I was in a forest.My eyes felt better now. I was about to open them when, "Hadn't she woken up yet?" A familiar voice asked."No, Alpha Chris. After she turned into her human form while fainting, she's been just like that." Someone said,It wasn't Cleo's voice. Hmm. Perhaps Chris flew all the way to Silent Hills city with a small team
    Chapter 54Jace's POV "Let this be a lesson to all those who think they can fool the Alpha King just because I trust them." I announced as I paced around with a flaming torch in my hand. Behind me a pyre was built in the middle of the city for people to watch. On it Liza was tied to a pole. She was drenched with petrol and shaking. Her eyes were red. She begged me to let her go, that she was honestly apologetic. That she acknowledged her blunder and would go away. "My trust has never been a weakness. My willingness to believe in those who stand beside me does not make me blind, nor does my kindness make me a fool. I give people my trust because I choose to see the good in them. Because I consider them my previous ones. But the moment that trust is betrayed, do not mistake my silence for ignorance. And don't ever think that you can outsmart me."I came to a halt. The flames were crackling beside my face. It was night now, the sky was dark with no stars. There were light poles around
