Chapter 57

Jenna's POV

'Thanks, bro. Head towards the Rogues' territory with your team. I'll meet you there.'

'Roger that!'

'Okay.'

We broke the link. I sucked a sharp breath as I focused on the road ahead. If I drive at high speed, I'll get there in twenty minutes.

Jenna, hold on for a while, love. Your husband is coming to get you.

(Twenty minutes later)

"Jace, finally you're here." Oakley came running towards my car as I applied brakes.

"Did you find her location?" I was not even fully out of the car.

"Yes, and already stationed our soldiers around the area." Oakley said, sending a wave of relief through me.

"Thank, goddess."

"Don't worry, Jace. The situation is already in our control." Oakley flashed a shark grin and my eyebrows cocked in confusion. "Chris's soldiers look novice. They are not attentive at all, let alone alert."

"I think he brought untrained wolves here. And I must add that his Beta and Gamma are not here either."

I acknowledged with a nod, "He's probably doing it without their knowledge."

"Could be." Oakley said. "But he has a woman with her with curly red hair."

Curly red hair? I don't remember any woman like that. But we'll find out soon. I told myself and let Oakley guide me through the forest that falls under Rogues's territory.

It's a vast area, and it's difficult to guard this place. There are some of the most brutal and oldest rogues taking shelter here. Some Alphas tried to take control over this place and make it a part of their pack, but they failed.

The Rogues have made it clear— they want to be left alone.

No one tries to come here, unless they have lost their minds. Because the Rogues here don't show mercy.

Just like we guard our packs, they guard this territory.

"Have you detected any Rogue scents in the area?" I enquired as I set my feet ahead very carefully so as not to snap any twig or leaves.

"Surprisingly none."

Taking note of that, we moved rapidly, yet surreptitiously. After a few minutes of walking, we arrived at the spot.

'There, under that tree lies Jenna. Luckily she's clothed.' Oakley shared on the link as we stood hidden behind a huge tree's trunk.

My body numbed as my eyes landed on her. My nose scrunched because she was clothed in a man's shirt— That better not be that asshøle’s. There weren't any bruises on her face, but she was curled into a fetal position, which sent floods of regret and pain crashing over my heart.

'I'll kill them all.' A howl automatically left my mouth.

Oakley pulled his hair in irritation, 'Stupid bastård!'

He grumbled before shouting out loud, "Soldiers, attack!!!"

The next second, the air was punctuated with the painful cries of Chris' soldiers. That bastård himself wasn't around. But I saw a woman appearing out of nowhere with a gun in her hands.

She pointed it in Jenna's direction as she shouted, "This bìtch ruined my life, Alpha King. You'll take her dead body from here."

My heart kind of stopped when my eyes zeroed in on her finger that was on the trigger. Surprisingly I saw it in slow-motion— how his finger slowly pulled the trigger. I saw the bullet fire with some embers erupting from the muzzle. My eyes trailed the bullet as it moved in Jenna's direction.

'Jenna!' Denis shouted her name in my mind as he took control over my body.

He used the Alpha king's speed and covered Jenna's body with mine when the bullet was just mere inches away.

"Arghhh." A hoarse cry tore from my throat as the bullet pierced in my back.

"Jace!"

"Alpha King!!!!"

I heard Oakley's worried voice and the soldiers' too. However, my body fell over Jenna's as a killing pain spread throughout my back.

'W-wolfsbane and silver... T-this combination can kill any wolf, even the Alpha king's.' Denis whispered amidst the onslaught of affliction. 'G-goodbye, Jace. You were a nice human counterpart.'

'N-no, Denis. D-don't...' I was over Jenna, unmoving and numb. Though I could feel her breathing normally, my wolf's breathing faltered and weakened.

'F-forgive me for my mistakes, Jace.' Denis coughed weakly. 'I... Made us land into t-this mess. I k-know I won't survive, but if you do, t-tell Jenna I'm sorry.'

With that he disappeared.

'D-den... Nis... No...' My own senses were very light as blood continued to gush out at a crazy speed.

Somehow I gathered all my strength and managed to cover Jenna's back of the hand with mine.

Serenity filled my heart. I squeezed her little hand in mine as a smile of liberation sneaked over my lips.

I found you, Jenna. My queen, I found you.

The next moment, my head spun and I plummeted into oblivion.

I hope this is not death.

Because I don't want to die now that I've found my wife again.

***

'Jace! Jace! Asshøle, wake up!' An annoyed voice echoed in my head. 'Fůcker, will you wake up now?'

'I didn't die from the wolfsbane and silver bullet, but you sure are taking an unnecessarily long time to recover from a petty hole caused by the same bullet in your back.' It spoke again, this time a little more annoyed.

'Jace, I swear I'll make your body fall off the bed if you don't wake up! Don't test my patience. Come on, the blood loss wasn't that much. Get up now.' That voice came again, and it did make me stir.

But I could not move.

'Jace, please, try to wake up. Jenna is losing hope. She cries everyday for you.'

The mention of that name made me frown in the darkness. Jenna? I think I heard that name. Whose name is that?

A grumble sounded before the voice came again, 'You forgot our chosen mate's name, scum?'

Chosen mate? Chosen... Mate?

CHOSEN.... MATE?

OUR CHOSEN MATE!!!!

Like a puzzle piece falling into place, the notion materialized in my consciousness. I felt a flare of energy as my limbs all throbbed.

Next moment, I sat up screaming, "Jenna!!!"

"Jace, you're awake?" I blinked my eyes before I focused on a face that had been blurry before.

"Jenna?" My heart jolted as I saw her sitting beside me with a pale but relieved face. "How are you, love?"

She didn't answer. She just rose and was engulfed in her hug. Her sobs made her chest rise and fall against mine. And though it's not a very big deal, it did something crazy to me.

I curled my arms around her tight and closed my eyes.

Heavens, we're finally in each other's arms.

***

That evening,

"You've been here for two days, Jace. I thought you'll never wake up. The doctors had refused to give an answer. They said they can only say something when you regain your senses." Jenna spoke innocently as her oceanic blue eyes blinked softly.

I pulled her in my arms and said sorry. I really didn't know I was here for two days. Thankfully, me and my wolf both are well.

'It's our mate's prayers that saved us.'

'And our son.' I smiled as I caressed my wife's back.

Chapter 58 Jace's POV We were silent for a long time. Neither of us spoke. Suddenly Jenna lifted her face and eyes me innocently."What?" I chuckled. She nodded in no, "You burned Liza alive."My face stilled. I pulled her closer and joined our foreheads, "I had to. She was the bane of our family."I kissed her."Also," I added. "She made me doubt my wife's intentions. I had to punish her."At that, she hugged me tighter and rested her face on my shoulder. She was sitting straddling my waist while I held her like my toddler baby.My back had healed. Hence, I was able to sit this way.The doctors had been worried because the wound wasn't healing in my state of unconsciousness. That's the reason why they refused to give any answer. But the second I woke up, the wound healed, and all the residue of wolfsbane and silver was eliminated by my immune system."What happened to Chris and that lady?" I suddenly asked as I remembered those two."Both dead. And that lady was Doctor Henry's daug

Chapter 56Jenna's POV Jace has never touched her before. He hadn't done it this time either. It's that bìtch who always found ways to go near him.'There's no point in giving yourself false hope, Jenna. Jace isn't the man we thought he was. Accept it.' Gianna said.A feeling of disappointment rose over me. No! My wolf is not right here. She's hurt from Jace's wolf's words, and rest is the impact of wolfsbane.Jace loves us.'You really think that? Then tell me, why didn't he come after us when we left?'he He might have a reason.'No,' Gianna grunted weakly. 'It's because he was bewitched by his mistress's beauty and he chose her instead.'That's not true. I was breathless in anger. Gianna's words struck a chord that it shouldn't have.'I'll prove it to you that Jace still only loves us.'Having that said, I lowered my guard. I had blocked out everyone and their feelings to avoid getting caught. However, as I lowered my guard, I could feel my family's emotions— Jace's first. He was

Chapter 55Jenna's POVI regained my senses at the feeling of stabbing spasms stretching throughout my body. My eyelids were heavy and so I couldn't drag them open. But my other senses were working well.I could hear and smell and feel my surroundings. The air was crackling with the chirping of thousands of crickets, meaning that I was most likely in a forest area; or where there were a lot of trees.I dragged in a deep breath to catch scents, and realized that wood was burning somewhere. Then I heard the noise of fire crackling. A bonfire. I subtly rubbed my hand on the ground and sensed the coarse texture. Soil. All the elements directed to one point, I was in a forest. My eyes felt better now. I was about to open them when, "Hadn't she woken up yet?" A familiar voice asked."No, Alpha Chris. After she turned into her human form while fainting, she's been just like that." Someone said,It wasn't Cleo's voice. Hmm. Perhaps Chris flew all the way to Silent Hills city with a small team

Chapter 54Jace's POV "Let this be a lesson to all those who think they can fool the Alpha King just because I trust them." I announced as I paced around with a flaming torch in my hand. Behind me a pyre was built in the middle of the city for people to watch. On it Liza was tied to a pole. She was drenched with petrol and shaking. Her eyes were red. She begged me to let her go, that she was honestly apologetic. That she acknowledged her blunder and would go away. "My trust has never been a weakness. My willingness to believe in those who stand beside me does not make me blind, nor does my kindness make me a fool. I give people my trust because I choose to see the good in them. Because I consider them my previous ones. But the moment that trust is betrayed, do not mistake my silence for ignorance. And don't ever think that you can outsmart me."I came to a halt. The flames were crackling beside my face. It was night now, the sky was dark with no stars. There were light poles around
