Jenna's POV

The sky got darker and I started panicking. Jace never left my side while Oakley went out to make calls.

"It's gonna be okay, okay?" He said as he squeezed my hand in his.

"Fuck you. AAHHHH! I can't tolerate this pain." I gasped because it was really soul-wrenching.

Above all, my heart was wounded because my husband, the man who I really wanted by my side with me, wasn't here. He was with his ex-lover, and the man sitting with me in the car was someone I hadn't expected to be there with me.

Through the pain, I went down the conversation we had before my contraction started. I can't believe it! The real father of my baby is here, an Alpha.

While I never expected this, I'm glad he's here. He didn't abandon me like my mate.

Anyway, in the next fifteen minutes, I was carried out of the car under a tree near the lake. A soft blanket was spread out and an old maiden was waiting for me. Jace carefully placed me down as I clutched in his shirt in panic.

"WHY HERE?" I yelled as my eyes found his face. "Don't you have enough fuel in that giant car of yours? Or is it just for appearances?"

"I don't mind taking you to a hospital, woman. But you are well aware of the severity of the situation, aren't you? Your Alpha mate wanted you to have a weak omega's child. What do you think will happen if he discovers you're actually carrying the Alpha king's child?"

"ALPHA KING? YOU'RE THE ALPHA KING???" I yelled louder, causing rustling in the tree above.

Jace was tense. He quietly nodded while Oakley came to explain, "That's right. This man here... Is our new Alpha King, Jace Kingston."

Later he added, "Besides, this place is safe. I see your Pack's soldiers aren't stationed anywhere around here."

That's because this is my favorite place and no one is allowed to come here except me.

My eyes flew up in daze. I heard about the new Alpha king but I was pregnant and I couldn't go to his coronation ceremony, which was five months ago. Not that it mattered because everyone who went (Chris went too), said that the new Alpha King never showed up in his own party; and that his coronation ceremony was held privately.

"FÚCK, GOODESS! WHHY!" I pulled my hair as Jace made a mad face.

"Aren't you happy? You're carrying the strongest wolf's child."

Oakley stood next to him and played with his platinum hair, "Didn't his exceptional hair color give away his identity? Only the heirs of the Alpha king's lineage have platinum silver hair."

"THAT'S WHY I'M SCREAMING, YOU DUMBFÚCKS! He's your son means it's going to hurt like hell and he won't come out easily." I was breathing heavily.

The old handmaiden came towards me. She sat on her knees and pulled my legs apart. She was about to remove my trousers when, "Do you need an invitation to turn around?"

"Invitation?" Oakley scratched his face.

"You can't look at me naked, idiots. Turn!"

"But, I'm the father." Jace objected.

"BUT NOT MY HUSBAND, IDIOT!" I hollered as another contraction hit me.

A few hours passed where I screamed and twisted. The maiden never left me alone for a second. She also told me that she had been summoned beforehand by her Alpha when he learned that the woman carrying his child was nearing delivery.

"Oh, goddess!" I cried again for the umpteenth time feeling a contraction. My throat was aching and my voice had thickened. But there was no sign of the baby coming out.

"Why isn't he coming out yet!" I lifted my head up to look at the maiden. The bump was all I could see.

"It takes hours to deliver a baby. Sometimes they extend to days."

"NOOO!" I screamed and Jace was by my side. "Why are you here? Didn't I tell you to—"

"You were screaming no, so I thought something bad happened." I stared at his panic-stricken face.

For a moment, I was numb. Life can really be surprising. I thought I would have my husband supporting me during my labor. But here, I have the biological father of my baby. A man I never thought I would meet unless in crucial situations— the alpha king.

To everyone's shock, a new contraction hit me and I screamed his name, "Jace!"

"I’m here, woman!" He instinctively caught my hand.

"WOMAN! So is that how you're going to call your child's mother, you arrogant filthy Alpha king?" I snapped at him as sweat flooded down my face.

"Sorry, Jenna." He whispered.

"Jenna? It's not Jenna for you— It's Luna Jenna. Don't forget I'm an Alpha's wife." I scoffed, guess the pain of labor

His face contorted in frustration as he crouched beside me angrily, "You have a problem with everything."

"Yeah, because I'm in fucking labor, idiot."

He calmed down at that and asked, "What do you need? Maybe I can do it for you."

"Can you deliver this baby for me? No, right. Then Fuck off." He gave me a hard look, but when I screamed again, he tensed and gulped hard.

"Do something!" I screamed at the maiden now. She was the calmest and it was annoying me.

The old maiden rolled her eyes, "Stop screaming at the child's father and listen to me."

I glared at her for the choice of her words, "You try having a baby while lying on the ground!"

"I've delivered more babies than you've had birthdays, girl. Now breathe." She said savagely and I hissed. I wanted to snap at her but another contraction depleted my energy.

I sucked in a shaky breath as I was growing tired by passing time. Two more hours had passed. Everything was quiet except for me. Jace was beside me while Oakley stayed back. But his curiosity made him take glances at us again and again.

"Good," The maiden said as she massaged my knee unknowingly. "You're doing well. Now push when I tell you."

"Isn't there anything I can do?" Jace asked in horror as he, I guess, saw my vaginal opening widening.

I laid there silently for a second, my eyes scanning his face. I didn't want him here or looking down there. But a part of me couldn't gather the courage to send him away.

He may not be my husband, but he was carrying out the duty of a responsible father. That alone stopped me from sending him away.

That was until, "Gosh, this looks painful. She's opening up wide. I haven't seen any woman open up this wide."

"That's because I'm delivering a baby, dense-head! You know what, just go and stand over there!" I pointed behind him towards the car where Oakley was standing.

"Yes, come here, bro. I'm getting bored alone." Oakley waved a hand.

"AHHHHH!" Jace instantly grabbed my hand.

"I'm here! I'm here!"

"You're crushing my hand!" I yelled.

Jace loosened his grip. "Sorry!"

"Don't let go!"

He grabbed my hand again, "Don't squeeze!"

Jace looked helplessly at the maiden, "What am I supposed to do?"

She shrugged. "Apparently, whatever she tells you."

"AAAHHH!" I screamed so loudly that birds flew out of the tree above them.

Jace looked up, "Even the birds are leaving but she hasn't yet pushed the baby out."

"YOU GRIMY ALPHA KING! I wish you had a pússy instead of the dick. Then you'd have known how it's like to push the baby." Oakley laughed behind him as I breathed wheezingly.

My body felt like a road roller was run over it. Suddenly I closed my eyes, giving up. I didn't want to do this. Moreover, what's the point? The baby wasn't coming as planned.

"Oh no, she's fainting. It's not good, Alpha King. Do something! Wake her up again." I heard the maiden's muffled voice

I just closed my eyes tighter and let my head drop to the side.

"Jenna!" Jace's breath touched my face. He was close, very close. "Hey, I thought you were excited for this baby."

I am. But I'm tired. Whatever happened today is playing around in my mind. It is assaulting me and draining my energy.

I think death will be better than living. Me and my baby… Both of us together.
