Jenna's POV

"It's between us that the child in Luna's belly is from a weak omega male's sperm. In fact, no one in the pack knows your child is from an IVF procedure. All of them think that it's a natural pregnancy." Henry spoke in that villainous manipulating voice.

"Yeah, but what about that? What are you trying to imply?"

"Alpha," I sensed an evil smile in his tone. "How about we accuse Luna of cheating on you?"

The words stole the air from my lungs, and all the energy from my body too. Somehow I dragged myself back to the bed and laid down. My eyes stared up at the ceiling as tears gushed out like a flood. My heart was insistently pounding.

I might have died right there had my wolf not interrupted my thoughts, 'Jenna, think about the baby!!!'

That was sufficient to ground me. I practised deep breathing and managed to reign in my emotions. But the pain stayed, deeply cutting and brutally beating.

I knew Chris wasn't happy when I suggested we opt for IVF, but I thought he wanted the baby as desperately as I did. Otherwise, why would he agree to it?

I remember he'd been angry and disapproving when I first brought IVF up.

Flashback,

"No, no, no. I am not allowing that." Chris gritted as he walked away from me.

"Chris," I clung to his arm and stopped him. "Just think about it. We need a child, don't we? So what's wrong?"

"Everything is wrong, Jenna."

"But earlier you were willing to go for IVF?" I whispered, my eyes brimming with tears.

His face softened when he saw my tears and sighed, "That's when... I thought they'll take my sperm. But..." He ground his teeth together. "The thought of using a donor's sperm makes me feel weak."

My heart jumped. I can understand his feelings. He's a powerful alpha. Even the Alphas of the neighboring packs are scared of him. It would come off like an insult if the words get out his sperm count is weak.

"We won't let anyone know, Chris." I caught his arm again. "The IVF procedure... It'll happen in Secrecy. Only a few will know. Just you and me... And doctor Henry, since he already knows why we aren't conceiving."

"No, I don't feel it's right. If we have a child... It'll be from my sperm. That's final." He threw my hand away and walked out.

Flashback end...

It took me weeks to convince him. And even after he agreed, he hadn't been very happy. But when the doctors told us that the embryo implantation had been successful, he forgot everything.

He promised to never hurt me again or bring up the topic that the baby wasn't his. It hadn't happened until three months ago!

'He wasn't happy with you wanting a pregnancy through IVF, that's why he made them use an omega's sperm, Jenna.' I nodded quietly.

I know. This was so he could blame me and my obstinacy for wanting a child. He already knew a weak omega's child will be weak.

'And when Sasha came, it was easy to cheat on you with her.'

Pain hammered in my chest wildly. Because he knew the child and the mate carrying him weren't going to bring him any more happiness than Sasha would.

"Luna," I hastily wiped my tears away as Henry peeked into my room from the doorstep.

"Come in, Henry."

"Are you crying, Luna?" I didn't reply. Yes, asshóle. "Oh, Luna. You're such a baby. I told you your baby is safe. But it won't be if you continue to stress like this."

He sat on the stool and covered my hands with his. A primal urge to throw his hand away rushed through me. I tamped down that temptation as I didn't want to give away the fact that I was aware of the truth.

I will unleash the darkest of hell on him. Doctor Henry, I'll set you aside. When I seek my revenge, you will suffer in the cruelest way.

"Where is Chris, Henry? He promised to spend the night with me."

"Luna, Alpha had to leave for an unexpected patrol run through the pack." The ease with which he lied made me want to strangle him.

"Oh. He told me they're giving him a rough time." I pretended to be sad.

"Don't lose your heart, Luna. I'm sure when your son comes, he'll be joined at the hip with you."

"I hope that too." I forced him to smile.

"Luna, since Alpha isn't here, let me take you home." He said and my wolf growled in danger.

'Don't go with him, Jenna. What if he changed his mind? What if he wants to kill you in a fake accident?' That filled me with unease.

"No, thank you, sir. My head is still heavy. I'll go home and relax."

"That is best too. The day has been hard on you." He got up. "I'll call your driver to bring you home."

"Thanks." Although I showed like I was grateful, I left the hospital in a cab.

It was difficult to choose a cab over my own driver and car under Henry's calculative gaze. But I lied that I was going to stop by at a friend's house since I changed my mind. He didn't object because he knew I needed to distract myself.

I didn't go to any friend's house. In fact, I have no loyal friends. The ones I used to hang out with are all poisonous snakes. They spent time with me to gain benefits.

'And some of them had a bad eye on that asshóle mate of ours.' My wolf grumbled.

Yeah, some were openly shameful and didn't care to hide their desires for Chris. There's no doubt that he's handsome. He's tall and strong. He took over the pack at the age of twenty. In his supervision, the pack has flourished three times more than it did in his father's.

'It can't erase the fact that he's a bloody ass-wípe. We can't let him go easily.'

My throat closed as my wolf's words weighed down on me. I paid the cab driver and got down at my favorite place. Cold lake. In the night, the surface of water shimmered like thousands of diamonds. The lake was fenced and there were benches set up for people to sit and relax.

I stood across the lake, holding the railing of the fence.

"No, we can't let him go easily. Not only did he cheat, he also made me carry an omega's child. It's like he was planning to get rid of me a long time ago." I whispered as I touched my belly.

My baby was moving. The flutter in my belly injected me with warmth I honestly needed right now.

I thought I had all the world at my feet when I conceived this child. But now... Now I was more helpless than a beggar. Everywhere I looked, it felt strange. I was feeling like a pariah in my own pack where I was loved and respected as their Luna.

"I'm here with you, baby. I don't care if your father is an omega or an Alpha... I'm happy I'm your mother. That is enough for me to love you." I hugged my belly and my baby kicked in response.

That made me chuckle. I continued to talk to him, "We're in a dangerous situation right now. I don't know what will happen tomorrow. Whether Chris will keep you or not, whether we'll come out of this alive or not, whether he provides for us or not... We'll face everything together, okay? Your mother is with you. I'll never leave you alone."

Suddenly my body shook and I grabbed the railing tighter. Something was happening. I don't know what, but my baby is kicking wildly. It was as if he was attempting to tear out of my womb.

"G-gianna, why is he doing this?" I yelled. "G-gianna, do you think i-it's time?"

My wolf was saying something but it was all a blur. Her words echoed in my mind but made no sense. I caught the railing tighter, unfortunately everything before my eyes became black. I could feel my hold on the railing becoming loose.

N-no. I wanted to whisper as my body began its descent on my left side.

Everything after that was a blur, but I swear I heard something like, "I can feel my pup. Yeah, it's... It's my pup in there. Oakley, I found the woman. Oh no, she's sweating. Do you think it's time?"
