Color-changing fiber optic chandeliers brightened the palatial lobby. Gentle spurts of water shot up into the air, drawing splashes to the ears as they fell back into the concrete fountain basin. Hotel attendants in red and white suits stood upright by the glass door, wearing bright smiles even though night had fallen.
