One chapter for now but I am working on the chapters for later today. My son had a baseball game that ran super late last night and I was on the road with other obligations for a greater portion of the day yesterday. Some days are like that but I will always try my best to get at least one good chapter out for my wonderful readers. Thank you for reading and hope you are enjoying the book so far! ~Lunar Dawn~
The band was loud, the crowd at peak excitement, the air was charged and I was a nervous wreck. My heart thumped loudly in my chest as I waited with baited anticipation for the moment Owen would come busting through that banner, followed by the rest of the team. From my experience last time with Jacob, I could see them rushing toward the sign by their cleats underneath but would only have a fews seconds of warning before the barrier was ripped apart as they burst forward and poured onto the field.I had positioned myself just off to the side enough to capture them and make it look like they were running right at me as I leaned over to grab the shots but in reality, they would be running right past me. Hopefully. If any of them were not paying attention, there was the small risk of getting trampled in the stampede so I knew I needed to be paying attention while trying to simultaneously photograph everything happening around me.The cheerleaders started jumping up and down and encouragin
Owen and I parted ways after eating and finding a few minutes alone, tucked off to the side of the concession stand. He had pulled me aside for some fervent kisses, the kind that took my breath away and left my toes tingling. He said he needed them for good luck and to make it through until he could kiss me again. That worked for me as I knew I would be missing his lips, too. When we finally could manage to pull ourselves away from one another, he headed to the clubhouse to join the guys in the locker room and I took my equipment and beelined it for the track.I managed to secure many great shots of the cheerleaders during the second part of the halftime routine. As much as I tried to be fair and capture the entire squad, it was obvious that my girls were my favorites. I continued to snap shots until their routine had ended. I even managed a few more playful, laidback shots when they were taking their break before the second half began.Much to my disappointment, Owen did not return a
As soon as my knees hit the turf and the announcer introduced the team, it was like I shifted and transformed into this totally different person where nothing else mattered but getting the perfect shot. Yes, I was somewhat hyperfocused on Owen and Nate whenever a moment allowed but even those shots were done with the utmost care to quality and style.Just in that small space of time, I had managed to take over sixty photos. As we all came back off of the field, I handed the camera back to Owen and took Nate’s hand to walk him back to Phil and Sherry.“Did you have fun out there, Little Man?” I asked him as I looked down at him walking beside me.“Yep. So much fun!” His eyes were twinkling from the excitement.“I am so glad that you did. Have you and Daddy been having fun together?” I was curious to see how it was going without an all out interrogation.“Yep. Daddy says he’s gonna get me a TV for my room so I can watch it in there when he is watching it in the living room.”I wanted to
Owen helped me to find a good place on the sidelines that he thought would be perfect. He assured me that I would not be in the way of any of the players and I should be back far enough from the boundary line. He said if any plays came that way, unless it was just a completely wild throw or dive, I would be safe from any harm.I just knew that being this close to the actual game play, I needed to stay alert, especially if the football or any running players were coming my direction. I didn’t want to take any unnecessary chances since I was holding the very expensive school camera equipment in my hands.Owen had asked me if I wanted him to run back and get a tripod for me but I declined. I wanted to see how this first set of games would go and didn’t want to be restricted with it. I wanted to be able to move around and get pictures of not only the game and the football players, but the cheerleaders and even the crowd. I wanted to capture the entire experience.I figured it would all be
“Hey, babe. What are you doing?” I greeted him with a smile as soon as I spotted him walking back toward me again.“I came to help you get all of this down on the field.” He answered as he took the camera bag away from me and slung it over his shoulder. “I help coach the JV so I am gonna be needed on the sidelines anyhow. I will head back to get dressed for our game just before the third quarter starts.”“What will your coaching job be on the sidelines?”“Well, when we are on offense, nothing really. Danny helps coach the defense side. That is the time I plan to sneak over and spend with you.” He said with a smile as he wiggled his eyebrows at me playfully, yet seductively before he was serious again. “But when we are on defense out on the field, I have Jacob, the JV quarterback, under my wing. Basically telling him anything he could have improved on. Gary will also be there working with Asher, their center. Coach wants us to get them ready this year cause they will move up and be the
Owen brought me back a plate with two slices of pepperoni pizza, a bag of chips, a can of soda and three friends. Courtney, Bethany and Vanessa volunteered to help me since they had time to kill before they were needed on the field. Plus, they wanted to see the shots that I captured and as part of the yearbook staff, help me get everything finished so that I wasn’t overloaded tonight.Owen pulled me into his arms and gave me a very deep, very sensual kiss before he hugged me close.“There. I know I will see you again before I take the field but just in case, that should hold me over until I do see you again. I love you.”“I love you, too. Now, go eat! We can’t have the star quarterback famished because he was running food to his girlfriend! Just in case, good luck. Tell the guys I said ‘good luck’ too.”Vanessa had taken my plate and drink and set them beside her stuff at one of the tables, forcing me away from the computer long enough to eat. As soon as Owen walked out and shut the d
