Chapter 5: I Don't Know You Anymore, Brianna!

Carson swallowed as he looked at Logan and Brianna in the back of the car. They were both silent, but he could feel the heavy atmosphere inside.

Until now, he couldn't believe what he had witnessed earlier – how Brianna remained calm despite Logan and Gabriella's accusations against her. Brianna was also able to quickly think of a solution, which impressed him even more.

"Brianna," Logan called his wife's name.

"Don't tell me you're going to apologize, Logan?" Brianna said, looking out the car window and watching people walking on the sidewalk.

Logan was speechless because of what Brianna said.

Brianna was right. Logan was about to apologize for what he had done earlier, but her words stopped him.

"I don't know where your brain went, Logan. Where is the smart Logan I used to know? The one who thought everything through before acting?" There was a mocking tone in her voice.

"Has your brain gone to your feet because of Gabriella?" she continued.

Logan held his breath due to Brianna's words. He didn't know how to respond. No one could make him speechless in terms of business, but now, Brianna made him mute.

Brianna looked at Logan. "Didn't you consider that I might be the one who planned to poison Gabriella?" she asked.

"I know you couldn't do that," Logan replied, his voice weak but audible.

Brianna chuckled. "Now I'm certain your brain is somewhere far away."

"Okay, fine. I'm sorry for what I did!" Logan apologized, but his voice was annoyed.

"What if I had hired someone from another city to poison Gabriella?" Brianna posed the question.

Logan thought about it. Regardless of Brianna's words, he knew she couldn't have done that. If she were the mastermind, she wouldn't have remained calm and smart enough to handle the situation.

Logan recognized that Brianna's words were spoken out of anger. He couldn't blame her for her reaction, as he knew he had made a colossal mistake.

Carson listened quietly to the conversation. He didn't know what to think, but surprisingly, Logan apologized to Brianna. He was aware of Logan's pride, that even when he was wrong, he wouldn't admit it. Yet, he had now willingly apologized for his earlier actions.

"I don't know you anymore, Brianna," Logan suddenly uttered.

"What a pity, Logan," she said.

"In over two years, you didn't get to know me well, Logan. You didn't see my other side," she continued.

Logan frowned. He had never thought of getting to know Brianna during their time together. He could admit he had enjoyed her company. She had tried to be a good wife, kind and gentle, obedient – qualities he had also appreciated in Gabriella.

Brianna tilted her head and gazed out the window again.

When the car stopped in front of their house, Brianna quickly got out.

Logan's eyes followed Brianna until she entered the house.

"Carson," Logan called his assistant.

"I need all the information about Brianna," he ordered.

"Why do you need to know about Mrs. Gray if you're breaking up too, Boss?" Carson asked, sounding surprised.

"Don't ask any more questions. Just follow the order if you want a job tomorrow!" Logan threatened.

Carson sighed. "Okay. I'll gather all the information about your wife, Boss!" he replied, his annoyance evident in his voice.

Logan got out of the car and entered their house. He headed straight to his room to rest and calm himself. A lot had happened that day, from work matters to what had transpired with Gabriella.

After Brianna showered and changed her clothes, she heard her smartphone ringing. She glanced at her smartphone and saw Jake's name.

She picked up the call. "What's your problem?" she immediately asked.

"What are you doing, Brie? I've been trying to call you for a while!"

Brianna closed her eyes. "I just finished taking a shower. Why are you calling?" she replied.

"I wanted to let you know that Jordan is on his way there!" he informed her.

"Coming here? Why is he suddenly coming here?"

"As far as I know, Mr. Gray called him to expedite the divorce papers for the two of you!"

"What time did he leave there?" Brianna asked.

"He's on his way to the airport. I know you two will inevitably meet since you're his clients!"

"Alright. Thanks for telling me!"

Brianna ended the call with Jake. She was about to put down her smartphone when she noticed he had sent a message.

"Is it really true that Logan Gray is your husband, Brie?" - Jake.

Brianna didn't answer Jake's question. She went to her contacts and found Jordan's number.

She called Jordan, but he didn't answer, so she sent him a message.

"When you arrive in Sunshine City, give me a call!" she messaged him.

Brianna sat on her bed and sighed. She knew she had a lot to explain to Jordan. It had been over two years since they last met and talked, and they were going to meet again tomorrow.

As Brianna sat on her bed, the door to her room suddenly opened. Logan walked in with a serious expression.

"What do you want?" Brianna asked.

Logan approached Brianna and faced her. "I just wanted to inform you that we'll be meeting the lawyer I hired to handle our divorce agreement. Maybe not tomorrow, but the day after," he informed her.

"Okay. Just remind me when he's here."

While they were conversing, Brianna's phone rang. Logan glanced at her smartphone. Brianna swiftly took out her phone and declined the call.

Although Brianna moved quickly, Logan had already read the caller's name. He couldn't be mistaken; he saw Jordan's name!

Mr. Jordan Smith immediately came to his mind – the lawyer he had hired to expedite their divorce process.

"Who was calling you?" Logan inquired.

"That's none of your business," she replied.

Logan frowned. He felt uneasy.

"Give me your phone," he demanded.

Brianna held her smartphone behind her back. "Why should I?"

"I saw a name on your phone's screen. I need to confirm who it was!" he said.

Brianna sighed. "Alright then, give me your phone too," she demanded.

"No!"

"Fine. Leave me alone."

Logan grabbed Brianna's arm. "Are you going to give it to me or not?" he asked, his voice carrying a threat.

Brianna's eyes widened. "No!"

Logan sensed that Brianna was concealing something, so he was unwilling to hand over his phone.

"We haven't broken up yet, Brianna. I have the right to see and open your phone!" Logan insisted.

Brianna shook her head. "I think you need some medication for your brain, Logan!" she mocked.

"You know the law about privacy. Even if you're my husband, if I don't want to give you my phone, there's nothing you can do about it! If you want to go to jail, I'll gladly give it to you!" she replied, her tone threatening.

Logan closed his eyes. Now he thought about what Brianna had said.

"What? Are you still going to take my phone?" Brianna asked him.

"I want to see and know who is calling you!"

"I'll give you my phone if you give yours, too."

Logan raised an eyebrow, "For what?" he asked.

"So I can see how you and Gabriella flirt. I can use your conversations when I think of suing you," Brianna immediately answered.

"You're really different, Brianna. Aside from being a gold digger, you've also become arrogant," Logan uttered.

"I didn't change, Logan. You just didn't see who I really am," she answered.

Logan closed his eyes and sighed, "I won't stay here any longer. Remember what I told you, we will meet with the lawyer I hired to settle our divorce," his last words before he left Brianna's room.

Brianna sat on the bed and opened her phone. She dialled the person who called her a while ago.

"Where are you, Jordan?" Brianna immediately asked when he answered the phone.

"Going to the airport," he answered.

"Let's meet tomorrow."

"Okay."

Brianna lay down on her bed after her conversation with Jordan was over.

She knew she had a lot to explain to Jordan, and before she and Logan could meet him, she needed to tell Jordan to hide her true identity.
