Chapter 24- Medicine Rock Pack

I stirred awake in an uncomfortable bed and started to open my eyes. I tried to open my eyes and squeezed them shut because the light where I was at was blinding. I whimpered in discomfort as my head started pounding with a headache and the light made it so much worse. I wiggled in the bed that I was in and felt something pull at my skin and I hissed in pain.
Suddenly, I felt sparks on my skin starting at my hand and traveling up my arm, then I heard Owen’s voice softly telling me, “Cat, it’s ok. You’re at the hospital at Medicine Rock.”
I nodded my head and groaned as I said, “the light.”

PrestonOur day had been eventful and we finally put the mysteries to rest before sending Mallory to prison to serve a thirty-year sentence for attempted murder on three accounts. We added another forty to her sentence for the guards she had killed. It was nice to have an end to all the crap we were looking into.At the end of the day, I went to the hospital to walk home with Esadowa. Jacob Ivy called and told me everything that she and mom learned at Juniper Moon about the recent cattle theft. Before Ivy could tell me anything more, mom snatched the phone from her and told me to be at the house for a family dinner. Something was up with that woman and I’m not sure what it was. When I got back into Medicine Rock territory, I didn't bother going back to the office. I was too restless now after everything and I had stuff to handle outside of the packhouse anyway. I checked on the guards and asked certain people if they had requested time off with Lacy. Only one of the guards had talked to her about taking time off, but he knew he needed to come to me about it.
