Today was a complete mixture of great and horrible. I claimed my mate and he claimed me, then his dad got into a fight and killed my horrible uncle. Most people would thank their stars for what just happened but I was still worried. Sure I didn’t have him breathing down my neck anymore, but what was everyone going to think and say? What pressure would be put on Colt by the pack to make him act against what happened here?

After Colt left, Jacob turned to me and held me close while talking to me. He was comforting even if he didn’t realize that was what he was doing.

“I hope you know that none of this is on you, gorgeous. I don’t want you to regret today,” he told me softly.

I smiled and said, “I don’t. There’s nothing in this world that would make me regret our claiming.”
