[The Alpha’s Chosen Luna]

ARIELLA

When I awoke, my eyes squinted against the bright light flooding the room. My head throbbed as if a gorilla wearing boxing gloves had been pummeling against my skull, whereas my throat felt so dry my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth. I wasn’t sure how long I had been unconscious, but it felt like I had taken one hell of a beating before I came to.

I hissed with pain as I pulled myself into a sitting position with my back pressing against the metal frame of a child-like bed, my fingers reaching up to find a silver collar around my neck.

Muffled voices and sounds emitted under the door from outside the metal door. The room spun, but I could make out a metal desk and a metal chair next to the bed. A large metal tray held a metal pitcher of water and a metal cup. The room appeared to be some kind of holding cell.

Suddenly, a bright light engulfed the room as the door opened, causing me to flinch and cover my face with my palms.
