[The Search Continues]

SIERRA

I clung to my son, praying for my daughter’s safe return. “We’ll find her, sweetie. Wherever they took her, we’ll hunt them down and bring Ella home safely.”

“C’mon, let’s join your father downstairs.” We then left her room and made our way downstairs.

I took a seat in the middle of the couch, keeping my back to Rory, who was on the phone. A hand collided with the couch, and I turned to see Sebastian walk in. My heart fell.

“Have they found her?” was the first thing I asked him, but he shook his head. “She’s coming back to me,” I said to him, begging him to agree.

He just squeezed his eyes shut in response. If he didn’t believe that, I would make sure of it.

A tear fell down my cheek, and I stared out the window at the sun setting, painting the sky with a glorious golden finish.

“What if we’re looking at it all wrong?” Sebastian sighed. “We’re assuming she was taken. But what if she ran away?” he asked sternly, referring to his own daughter.
