Chapter 9

I was looking at the ceiling when I heard my cell phone ring on the nightstand next to my bed. I glanced at my cell phone when I took it, I looked at the screen and flashed the caller from the unregistered number. I think twice before I click the ‘answer’ to my phone screen and place it in my left ear. “Hello---” I didn’t finish my sentence when I heard a familiar voice to the other side of the line.

“Good morning, Ms. LeStrange.”

I don’t know but I feel strange when I heard his bedroom voice and I slowly sat down on my bed but I feel pain in my feet so I groaned in pain.

“Are you alright?”

“I’m fine,” I lied, “good morning Mister Da Silva, why did you call this morning?”

“I just want to say sorry about last night because I couldn’t talk about the mansion.”

I shake my head, “no, its fine, no problem.”

“I want to meet with you this morning about the mansion. We have fixed the paperwork with our attorney and we just have to sign it. Are you free this morning or this day?”

“Yes, of course, I’m free.”

“Where can we meet?”

I look my feet with bandages, “you can come here or maybe---”

“Yes, I think we should meet there at the mansion if that’s okay with you. I’ll go there within a half-hour.”

I would still something about half an hour because it’s too fast to prepare to meet him but he just turned off the call. I had to hurry and maybe he just came early. I put my cell phone back on the nightstand and almost fell on the bed when my blanket tangled on my feet when I suddenly got up and I exhaled a relief when it didn’t happen. I carefully go to the bathroom, shower, and fixed myself to the meeting. When I finished bathing I immediately went out of my room, went straight to the kitchen, and saw that breakfast was ready there.

I saw Darius looking at my newly bandaged wound on my feet, “is still hurt?” He looks concerned.

“I’m fine, Darius.” I walk and sat down to his left side chair.

“Mister Da Silva is coming so we can sign a contract for the mansion this morning.” The three of them looked at me. My brow arched for them, “why are you looking at me like that?”

“Sorry, Emily but it seems like you need to be alone with Reginald Da Silva. Darius will be on delivery to the market, I and my husband need to go to the public market too, to buy the supply here in the mansion.” Mrs. Marcos said.

“What time you will go?” I asked back while putting some loaf bread on my plate.

“After breakfast we will leave immediately but we will be back soon.”

“It’s fine, I can take care of myself.”

Everything was quiet while eating our breakfast and even Darius I know was talkative was quiet this morning I was a bit changed. After breakfast, they left and I was the only one left in the mansion. As my companions left the mansion and Reginald arrived in a black car. I was just outside the mansion sitting on the stairs when I saw his car coming. The car parked in front of the mansion before he went out of the car. He looks handsome on his gray turtle neck, black coat, gray trousers, and black shoes. He was alone while holding the brown bag and his deep blue eyes are looking at me.

Until his eyes look down on my bandages, I saw his expression changes, look concerned, and gritted his teeth. I don’t know if that just my imagination. I carefully stand when his approaching me.

“Good morning, we can start and talk inside.” I smile a little, when I step carefully my bandages feet I almost fell but his hands move fast, hold my hands, and help me. I look at him and this is it again, the strange electricity when our skin touches.

“Be careful,” he said.

“Thanks.”

I took my hand to him and walk carefully. When we go inside the mansion and we walk straight to the music room beside the living room. There was some old musical instrument in the room and especially the piano that my mum used when she’s alive, standing in the middle of the room. I sat in front of the circle and a small table. He sat there too and places the brown bag to the table, in front of me. He pulled out the contract from the brown bag and gave me a copy too.

“If you can read that all of the furniture also from this mansion will go to us once you agree and sing the paper. The prize is blank and I want you to decide how much you want to write there.”

I look at him with my eyes widened because I’m surprised, “I said before that this mansion prize is 8.5 million with all the furniture here, so why you put the prize we talked last time?”

“I just giving you the power if you change your mind or you to put some higher, we can still pay it.”

He sounded arrogant this time and ridiculous.

I look again at the paper and read some of the information from the contract when I noticed that his now sitting in front of the piano. I feel goosebump when he started playing the piano especially his playing Symphony No. 5, Op. 67: I. Allegro con brio of Beethoven, the famous pianist because I am familiar with that piece because my mother used to play that piece from Beethoven.

“You know how to play the piano?”

He didn’t answer me and his still playing. I stand and approached him, I saw his long finger and hands gracefully playing from the piano. I look like a little kid and wondering to her parents how good they are. He looks amazing and I feel so envy because my mum used to teach me how to play the piano but I still can’t because music is not my thing.

He stops for a while and then plays another Beethoven best piece the Bagatelle No. 25 in A minor, WoO 59 (Für Elise).

I couldn’t stop myself but to smile on how he plays.

He stops and then I notice him looking at me. I looked at him too, I don’t know but something the way he looks at me that I couldn’t explain. His deep blue eyes were enticing.
