I dropped all the waste into a large metal drum along with paraffin dipped that we used to heat up the outside griller. I lit up the waste and watched everything catch alight before heading back inside and washing my hands and reheating a large container of beef stew that John kept aside for me to take for dinner or breakfast.
I poured the contents into a bowl, took a soup spoon and some serviettes, and walked tiredly to the front where Alex sat with the shirt unbuttoned because it was too small.
I placed the stew in front of him along with a spoon. "Do you want another cup of coffee?" I ask him kindly and Alexander shifts uncomfortably and nods pushing his empty mug towards me. "The same... if you can..." He says quietly
I smile to myself picking up the mug "Of course. Do you like cheesecake?" I ask as he smiled slightly at me "Is John aware that you giving food away?"
"I am not giving it away," I answer in slight amusement technically it was my food but he needed it more than me.
"Then what do you call this Emi?" he asks spooning the boiling hot food into his mouth and my eyes widen "is it cold already?" I ask with a frown instead and he looks up confused "The stew, I was sure I made it really hot." I mumble and he chuckles spooning another portion into his mouth. "Emi... Coffee." He answers instead and I blush nodding and heading back into the kitchen.
I cut out two pieces of cheesecake and place them on the kitchen window and wash up a few dishes along with the mug and another for myself put in the same mixture heading back out front where Alexander was still eating.
I reset up the machine for two mugs and slide a piece of cheesecake to Alexander who eyes it warily. "It's not John's" I reassure him and he still looks skeptically at it while finishing his stew and I make our coffees.
I place his coffee down and I lean against the counter about to sip mine when Alexander clears his throat and I pause looking up in question "Would you like to sit..." He asks standing up already carrying his coffee and saucer looking around not waiting for me to answer, he was clearly of high ranking, gave orders, and expected you to follow whether you agreed or not.
I watch him look around in irritation at a place that would fit his huge frame and I walk around stifling a yawn walking around the counter and him and carry my coffee and cheesecake to a large booth seating area right at the back where we seated larger guests.
I sat down slipping my shoes and sitting cross-legged and getting comfortable with Alex sitting opposite me and relaxing against the plush seat, sighing. "So much better.."He mumbles hoarsely sinking into the seat and then looking at me watching him. He smirked at me "Never seen someone relax?" He asks in amusement as I spoon a bit of passionfruit cheesecake into my mouth.
"I have... but you seem to be experiencing it for the first time." I say sipping my coffee and he gulpped his. I stare at in shock "That is Fuc-" "Demon, Emi." He reminds laughing and I blush at the attractive rolling gruff rumble that came from his chest that sounded like crunching gravel and then at the answer
"Right. Sorry... I never met a part-demon before.." I mumble at him eating the cheesecake in front of me as he plays with the cheesecake almost unsure whether to eat it. "It is not John... I threw his out." I laugh and his smiles broadened spooning a bit into his mouth and he raises his brow in surprise. "Good?" I ask sipping my coffee and he nods spooning a bigger piece into his mouth groaning at the taste. "I put in a sweetneded passionfruit curd..." I explain sitting back and watching him in fascination.
"it's rude to stare..." he says to me and I roll my eyes "How are you a Tribrid?" I ask quietly and he arches a brow mid bite "How did you know about my demon?" He answers instead and I groan this was going to be a long night
"I smelt his scent... his Burning wood scent gives your werewolf scent a roasted hazelnut coffee smell and makes your vampire scent a dry froze midnight orchid smell.." I explain and he narrows his eyes indicating I needed to explain more than that, I groan at him giving him a summarised version. "I have a special gene that gave me a heightened sense of smell, better than a werewolf. As I grew my ability grew and my Alpha, Alpha Ian of the moon cloak pack, took me under his wing and helped me develop it, and trained me to use it. I can smell different scents, what species they are, what pack their from, sometimes the stronger their pack scent the higher their rank. I can smell danger from miles away, I can decode a person by their smell their attraction, nervousness, hate, lust, I can tell if I am in danger or not or their true intentions..." I explain. He furrows his brow in confusion like he is trying to work out a tough equation in his mind and I slide over my unfinished cheesecak
A month later I found myself back in familiar surroundings, I was finally back home, back at Moon Cloaks Pack in Aarhus, back in Denmark. Alpha Ian got my adoption paperwork and university application fast-tracked with the help of the hybrid alpha that I never met or seen. When the time for goodbyes came around I couldn't help the soft leaking tears that graced my cheeks. I hugged the small group of people that became my home away from home and fully accepted me as one of them. John, Ella, Elisa, and Patty readily hugged me and said I better call and not forget them while Collen found the entire thing too melodramatic for his taste. "It's not like we will never see each other again, Emi." Collen says while awkwardly tapping my back "Just give me a hug you sophisticated idiot in case I don't" I sniff and he grunted in distaste hugging me while mumbling about how I wanted him to get killed and how I have ruined his sophisticated edge with all water works. "Thank you for everything..
Time flew by more quickly than I care to admit, it was three years later and so much happened. The first was Ian ascending to Alpha position and Lzzy ascending the Luna position, the next Thomas and Octavia ascending Beta and Beta female position, and Theo and Ivy being named Gamma and Gamma Female. Ivy was doing well in the moon cloak pack, she was still wasn't used to people being so accepting of her. Racheal took her under her wing and started training her to be a nurse and I watched in quiet delight Ivy find her place and prosper in the Moon Cloaks. She also found her mate, the quiet, sweet, and patient Theo, who was close friends with Dylan. I was with Ivy when they discovered they were mates. Ivy immediately braced herself for rejection and was taken aback when Theo hugged her and was genuinely happy to have her as his mate. We all watched Theo and her fall in love. Theo was kind, sweet, and patient especially when Ivy's insecurities just got too much for her to handle, in
Octavia and I helped Lzzy into more comfortable clothes while Lzzy fought the pain of contractions. We grabbed the already packed hospital bag and helped her into the car before we raced to the pack hospital. "Did you mindlink Racheal?" I ask Octavia and she nods as her eyes glazed over meaning she was receiving communication back. I focused on the road ahead and I hear Lzzy swear and whimper in the backseat. we finally made it to the hospital and helped Lzzy out while Ivy, Racheal, and Terry, another pack member, rushed out with a wheelchair and we all quickly helped her into the wheelchair as Lzzy clutched her tummy in pain and sobbed as we all ran in the direction of the first available room. Octavia and I hover near the door while we watch Terry, Ivy and Racheal rush around the room trying to get it labor ready. Ivy and Terry turn to Lzzy to help her up, but Lzzy swatted their hands away angrily."GET THE HELL AWAY FROM ME!" Lzzy screamed as Terry and Ivy tried to help her out
I sweep Anna, my niece, into my arms as she just as her soft sobs erupt in my room, "Now, Now, Lovebug. No need to Cry Aunty is here..." I coo as she puckers her quivering lip and blinks her teary eyes at me as I quickly make my way downstairs to the kitchen. I place her in her bouncy seat that Ian set up on the dining room table a few days ago, I switch on the small mobile to distract her for a little while, while I get her bottle warmed and ready for feeding. I place the ready-made bottle into a mug of hot water while watching my month-year-old niece stare at the turning wolve shapes dangling above her with a sad smile. It has been a rough month for her, for the entire clan, as the Lzzy was diagnosed with postpartum depression a week after Anna's birth after she refused to hold, look or even feed her. So I stepped in to fill in the role that Lzzy couldn't bring herself to do, while still doing my honors and helping my brothers gather information from an underground spy group th
Anna Loud giggles fill the room as we all watch captivated as she points at her father and her uncle who pretend to fight, I smile at the scene while getting back to marking a few first years assignments that were handed to honor students yesterday. Lzzy was busy cooking looking at the scene from time to time with a small smile. She was doing better now, she was stronger mentally and emotionally, and she was seeing a new doctor closer to my college, they were from the werewolf world, but resided in the human world, working among human doctors and in private practices. Lzzy's session with Dr. Zander proved to be fruitful. We saw a change in her after a few sessions two months ago, She started up her duties as Luna again and talked and cried less. I was still taking care of Anna but Lzzy started making an effort, She woke up with Ian when night feeding was done, she came out with Anna and I went for picnics and outings, and she even held Anna a few times. My mind is brought back to
I took Anna out for our daily walk around the territory, She was bubbling and gaggling happily as I conversed with a few pack members that were curious and worried about Octavia's condition after Ruby put her on bed rest a few days ago. Now we all have shifts to take care of her and give her company. I walked to the lake, a picnic area where a lot of teenage wolves and families went too, socializing was a big part of the pack to create a close bond, and exposing Anna to more people would help her in the future went she took over the pack. I settled us on the ground and placed her on the ground as she watched a few shifted wolves shift and jump in the play in the water. I smiled at the scene and took a deep calming breath when I smelt that citrus ice scent. I turned in the direction of the smell and raised my brows in surprise as I saw Emanuel relaxing on the tree, staring at me and Anna while he ate an apple casually. I blinked rapidly wondering if I was imagining it when I realiz
I sigh softly and tiredly pick up my whimpering niece and drag myself downstairs to arrange her bottle for her. Ian, Lzzy, and Thomas left about a day ago and called a few hours ago to check in on Octavia, me, and Anna. All was well but at the moment my sobbing niece did not seem to think so. I feed Anna and quietly trudge back upstairs to check in on Octavia who was asleep and I go back to Anna's room and settle on a comfy couch to rock her gently to sleep. I smile down as her eyes flutter close and her breathing becomes soft, I still rock her softly knowing if I stopped as soon as she fell asleep she would just wake back up. I rock her for a bit before settling her in her crib, I go wash up and was about to settle back into bed when I heard the soft creek of Anna's room door. I furrowed my brows in confusion not getting any scent and go back to check on Anna. I felt my heart stop when I saw the black figure standing over her crib, blocking the moonlight that was seeping throu
