Chapter Two - Uncovering the Truth

'She is extremely intelligent, I am so suprised she was ever with someone like Blake Samuels' Riley says to Detective Stewart while looking in on Dee in the interview room, from behind the two way mirror.

'You and I are seeing things very differently' Stewart replies while sipping his coffee. 'I don't think she is intelligent at all, it was not that hard to catch her' he says wittingly.

'She let you catch her, she wants the world to know that it was her that took out Blake and everything else' Riley snips back. 'If she did not want to be caught she would not be here' she adds.

'Knock knock, how are things looking?' Detective Grayson says popping his head in the door.

'Oh, hello, we are just giving her a bit of a break after talking about her twins' Riley answers as she shakes Graysons hand.

'Not too long of a break I hope, you do remember what she is here for right Riley?' Grayson says looking concerned.

'Of coarse, but if we want her to open up and give us everything with out allowing her emotions to take over, than we have to give her breaks' Riley says back.

Stewart rolls his eyes and puts his hands in his pants pockets 'Is that your professional opinion?'

'That is enough Stewart, you know why she is here, she is the best at getting people who won't talk, to talk, so suck it up and help Riley in anyway that she needs' Grayson snaps at Stewart.

'Yes Sir' Stewart quickly answers 'I just do not think that Amadee deserves any special treatment, that is all' he adds on nervously.

'She will not get any special treatment, just time to explain what happened ok Stewart?' Riley says convincingly.

'Fine, what ever you say shrink' Stewart huffs as he leaves the room.

Riley takes a moment to go back through Dee's files and notes, she was only 16 when she met Blake Samuels, he was 21, was she too young and nieve to understand what type of man he is? Or was? Or was she smart enough to be part of his criminal dealings? Either way, Riley struggled to put her finger on why someone like Dee was with someone like Blake.

Walking back into the interview room where Dee is sitting being watched by some police officers, Riley decides to try and befriend Dee to see if that will help her relax more.

'Hey Dee, do you think you would be ok to continue, or do you need a little more time?' She asks softly and kindly.

'I am ready when you lot are' Dee says as if she is bored with the question. Turning her attention to her empty coffee cup "Reckon you could get this filled up though Riley, seems how we are now pals?' She adds with a sarcastic grin across her face.

'Sure!' says Riley, reading right through Dees sarcasm. Thinking to herself that perhaps Dee is one step ahead and she may have to think outside the box. 'White and two right?' She asks as she heads towards the door with the empty cup.

'You got it' Dee says giving a cheeky wink, almost as if she is mocking Riley's intelligence.

As everyone settles back in the room Riley tries a different approach after her small interaction with Dee alone.

'So, do you think they pushed you to snap or were you in control the entire time? That is all we really want to know' Riley says, as to dismiss the importance of any of Dees feelings at all.

'I think a little from column A and a little from coloumn B, a bear is not voilent unless it is hunting or being hunted' She says as she starts to play with her lighter flicking it over and over.

'Were you hunting them then?' Riley asks as she writes down some notes.

'I guess if that is how you want to look at it, sure!' Dee was quick to reply. She starts to giggle and shake her head looking directly in Rileys direction.

'Do I amuse you Amadee?' Riley asks leaning back in her chair and tapping her pen on her chin.

'Not at all' Dee replies. 'I find it sad that you think this is deeper than me just doing what I thought was fair' She adds wittingly.

'Fair? Do you really think draining a pregnant woman of all of her blood was fair?' Riley said placing a photo down of Claire's lifeless body at the crime scene.

'Yeah, I do Riley, I think that is more than fair' Dee said through gritted teeth leaning her elbows on the table while leaning straight towards Riley.

'Did you think about the life of her unborn baby when you did that?' Riley through straight back at her.

'Not once' Dee replied smiling at her whilst holding her gaze tight with Rileys eyes.

'Ok, you two, let's just calm things down for a minute and get back to where we were with Dee before we gave her a break.' Says Stewart interuppting before Dees temper could begin to show itself.

'You are right Detective, let us all try and remain level headed here so we can get to the bottom of this' Riley responded nervously. Did Dee just get in her head?

Dee rolls her eyes and says 'What do you want to know?'

'What happened after you found out about his affair with Claire?' Riley asked calmly read to take some notes.

'I refused to speak to Blake, I went to my mums house, the first two weeks were a bit of a blur, I was obviously recovering mentally and physically.' Dee answered spinning her lighter in her hand. Her posture was different, she seemed anxious like she did not want to talk about this part in the chaos to come.

'Did he try to contact you at all during those two weeks?' Riley asked.

'Of coarse he did, I have over 1000 missed calls, he was sending flowers to my Mums address, I had so many text messages that I just turned my phone off. I did not have a lot to say to him really.' Dee answered looking down at her feet.

She is trying to hide her pain, Riley thought. 'Why didn't you want to talk to him? Didn't you want answers or some form of closure?' Riley asked curiously thinking if it was her she would want answers.

'Answers to what? I had all the answers at the time I needed. My piece of shit husband thought it was a great idea to tell me that he had knocked up his side piece after I was told I will be losing my babies. If that man cared about me at all. None of that information would have been told to me during that time' Dee snapped sitting up right putting both her hands flat on the table.

'So you think he never cared about you?' Riley asked, perhaps we were getting somewhere, she thought.

'No, he owned me' Dee answered softly. 'Blake has never loved anything in his life, he has just had posessions, I was one of them' She added sadly looking down at her feet.

'Was that his first affair?' Riley asks.

Dee shruggs 'Who knows really, the man could lie so well it was hard to know what was real and what was not. Look I am really getting over all this today, I have had enough, can we talk about something else? Or can I go back to my holding cell?' Dee asks looking frustrated.

'You can go back when we decide you can, right now we need to get as much information as we can out of you, ok Amadee?' Stewart says trying to seem polite.

'Whatever' Dee mumbles.

'When did you have contact with him again?' Riley adds to her line of questioning.

'After I went back to the doctors for some blood test results' Dee said quietly, starting to slouch in his chair.

'Why did you need to speak to him after your blood tests?' Riley curiously asked Dee.

'Because they found things in my system that should not have been there, I wanted him to know that I knew' Dee says staring deeply into Rileys eyes.

'Like what?' Stewart asks confused.

'Levonorgestrel' Dee says softly.

'What the hell is that?' Stewart asks still as much as confused before hand.

'The morning after pill' Riley answers staring in shock at Dee. 'How did they....' Riley starts to ask before Dee cuts her off..

'They were drugging me' Dee says 'My so called husband, his mother, his sister and his piece of shit mistress. They were drugging me' She repeats.

'How did you know they were?' Stewart questions her, not that he does not believe her, but four people? Seems a little strange.

'Because I found text messages, emails and communication between them all' Dee answered.

'How' Riley asks firmly.

'I went home' Dee says.

'Back to Blake?' Riley asks confused.

'No, I went home to confront him, because I knew it could have only been him that did that to me.' Dee responded, again looking down at her feet.

'What happened when you did?' Stewart asks, eager to know exactly how this all started.

'Dee, what are you doing here?' Blake asked her as she walked through the front door of their once shared home. She startled him, he was not expecting her.

Dee had forgotten how big their house was as she walked into the entrance.'I have some questions for you' She snapped at Blake as she walked straight passed him heading for the kitchen.

'Ok?' He said following her to the kitchen, 'Did you want a cuppa or anything?' he asked stumbling over his words to be polite.

'Not one you are making' She quickly replied and glared at him. She knew, she knew during her whole pregnancy that he had been drugging her with the morning after pill hoping it would cause her to miscarriage. 'Sit down!' She demands as she takes a seat at their once shared dining table and takes her jacket off.

Blake sits slowly watching her. 'What do you need to know Dee? I will answer any questions you have' he says as he rolls up his sleeves on his long sleeve button up.

'How long?' she asked first, staring straight through him.

'How long what?' he said back to her. He wanted her to be clear about what she was asking him.

'How... Long?!' She repeated herself louder and slower, not taking her deadly gaze off of him.

'Honestly, I had only been seeing her for 3 months Dee, I swear, it was not longer than that' he answered assuming she was talking about his affair with Claire.

'How long have you been drugging me' She shooted straight back to him, crossing her legs and her arms, looking him up and down in disgust.

'What the fuck are you talking about Dee?' He answered wiping his hand over his mouth in nervousness and placing his other hand on his hip. 'What are they giving you? You seem a little off?' He tried to blame anything she was having for recovery.

'You know exactly what I am fucking talking about Blake, do not dismiss me, how long have you been giving me the morning after pill?' She asked again slamming her hand down on the table to jolt his nervous system. She wanted him to know how serious she was and how she will not be dismissed, not this time.

Looking down at his feet, knowing his wife will not give up in questioning him, he answered  'From the day you told me you were pregnant' as he rubbed his hands together nervously.

Her eyes filled with tears and she stared at him in disbeleif, 'Why?' is the only thing she could force her mouth to say.

'I... I did not want to be with you anymore, I wanted out, but I did not want you to have those babies, I wanted to start fresh.... with Claire.' he muttered out still not being able to look up at her.

'So it has not been three months with Claire then?' She scolded towards him, trying to stop her eyes from watering.

'No, it has been for almost two years Dee' He answered sheepishly like the coward she always knew he was.

'You took my children from me for a hoe you are fucking?' She snapped at him, feeling her rage boiling. As soon as that sentence left her mouth she stood up and slapped him as hard as she could right across his face. She had never been physicaly with Blake before, but in that moment, she felt like he deserved every second. 'Why Blake, just tell me why?' She repeated as she kept hitting him.

'I am sorry Dee' he got out as he tried to stop her from hitting him. 'Stop hitting me, I am sorry' He said as he caught her arms, forcingly hugging her while she cried on his should still asking him why.

'Did he admit the others helped?' Stewart asks, shuffling in his seat extremely uncomfortable with what he just heard.

Dee shakes her head no 'Blake was many things, but a rat is not one of them, he never told me they were involved.' She answers with her hands shaking trying to light another cigerette.

'How did you find that out?' Stewart asks her, he starts to speak more softly to her now as he gets more understanding of the treatement she had recieved.

'I stole his phone when I left that day and read his emails and texts' She answers drawing in a massive draw of her nicotine and closing her eyes as tears fall from them.

'Did he know you stole his phone' Riley asks baffled by what she had just heard out of Dee's mouth.

Dee bit her thumb nail with her eyes still closed and nodded yes. 'He knew' She mumbled.

'Did he try to get it back Amadee?' Riley adds on writing her notes trying to look like she is not bothered by what she is hearing.

'No, he just had it blocked and shut down once he realised it was gone' Dee answers wiping under her eyes trying to remove any evidence of emotions.
