HUNTER'S P.O.V

My eyes widened in realisation, travelling back and forth between the two men.

"I thought we'd come to an agreement, Marizo," Mr. Haven said, his voice flat and unconvincing. "My men are on it. The shipment will be released soon."

“We cannot work like this, Russella. Our buyers did not appreciate the last delay,” the old man answered flatly.

“We just need time. I'm sure the Monroes will understand,” Mr Haven said calmly. “Give us a week.”

HUNTER'S P.O.VMy eyes widened in realisation, travelling back and forth between the two men."I thought we'd come to an agreement, Marizo," Mr. Haven said, his voice flat and unconvincing. "My men are on it. The shipment will be released soon."“We cannot work like this, Russella. Our buyers did not appreciate the last delay,” the old man answered flatly.“We just need time. I'm sure the Monroes will understand,” Mr Haven said calmly. “Give us a week.”Marizo laughed hysterically, throwing his head back and squinting his eyes till tears rolled out. He smacked his hand lightly against the old man, who joined in with a deep chuckle. Both shared a lengthy laugh, probably an inside joke, one Mr Haven or his other guests seemed to understand or find laughable.“You're a funny man, Russella," he turned to the older man "Isn't he a funny man?”The old man nodded in agreement, still laughing. But shortly, the laughter died, and Marizo's hardened gaze returned, steadying on Mr Haven.“We're a

VERA'S P.O.VGinger kitten sat in the kitchen, lapping at the saucer of milk and tuna I'd set out. His little pink tongue flicked in and out, completely unbothered by the wreckage sitting three feet away from him. Me.My hands still shook. I kept pressing them flat against my thighs like that would stop it. It didn’t.Hunter’s face kept flashing behind my eyes. How close he’d been, the weight of his hand over my mouth. The imprint of his fingers on my shoulders and face had burned away, but the feeling he left behind hadn't. I clearly remembered the sound I made when he wiped my tears like he had any right to touch me.Ginger kitten finished the milk and looked up at me with big, brown eyes, then padded over and climbed into my lap. I let him. My fingers moved softly through his soft fur while the rest of me stayed frozen.I had no intention of returning to Haven. I was certain, right from the moment I found out Hunter was offered a spot. The resignation letter I had drafted and alrea

  • YOU WRECKED ME    UNUSUAL

HUNTER’S P.O.V“Hunter, are you well?” Ramsay’s eyes narrowed as he studied my face. I blinked myself back to the present, rubbing at my eyes, resting my head in my hand.“I'm just tired,” I answered.Which was true. I was tired; the migraines never left, and on top of it all, my terrible eyesight was added to my frustration.“When was the last time you slept?” I turned to the voice; to no surprise, it was McLaren.I scoffed under my breath. When last had *he* slept? He should be the last person to ask this. I'm sure Mr Haven's having him work overtime.“Why are you here? This meeting is supposed to be private— Ramsay and I.”“I’m here representing Mr Haven. He hired Ramsay on your behalf, to ensure your mother's case is being handled well,” he answered, taking a seat right next to me.I rubbed my forehead where the headache hurt the most.“I’d prefer you weren't here. Mr Haven did say Ramsay was the best…he's handling the case well enough.”I looked at Ramsay, who nodded in agreemen

  • YOU WRECKED ME    COME BACK

HUNTER’S P.O.V“Go ahead, Vera... scream."The words had barely left my mouth before I regretted them. That is exactly what she did.A piercing, bone-chilling shriek ripped through her, making every head turn in our direction.Vera snatched her hand away, then sped in the opposite direction, leaving me dumb- founded.“What the fuck was that?” A passer-by asked, which I ignored.I reached into my pocket for my phone. It buzzed several times while I was following Vera. Two unread messages flickered on the screen. The first was from Ramsay, containing recent updates about my mother's case. The second was from McLaren.McLaren: Urgent message from Mr Haven. He expects Vera to resume work with you at Havens tomorrow. Don’t disappoint. My heart skipped a beat as the weight of the text settled in. It was probably not his intention to put me under pressure, but that's what his message had done to me.I stared ahead in the direction Vera had just left. If Mr Haven couldn't get his own daughter

  • YOU WRECKED ME    SCREAM

VERA'S P.O.V Hunter was absolutely unbelievable and was getting on my very last nerve. Why couldn't he accept the fact that we've broken up? Professor Gregory promised a brief class, but I wished he had hurried even more. I had spent a full month avoiding, Hunter only to end up sitting directly next to him on the first day. I kept my eyes on my notebook, fighting the urge to look at him while he begged for my attention. Ignoring him took every ounce of strength I had left. "Take this,” Professor Gregory said, giving Hunter a sheet of paper. Finally, something for him to do. “It's the number of students registered for this class. If your name isn't there, it's best you leave and not waste your time any longer.” Thank goodness. Hunter’s name better not be on that list.He took the list, placing it in front of him while the professor went on.I waited anxiously for him to realise his name wasn't on the list, then leave, but Hunter was taking an eternity to do that. At last, I tur

  • YOU WRECKED ME    KILL ME

HUNTER'S P.O.VNothing sets the tone for a new semester quite like walking into a massive room late—only to realise it’s not a normal class, but a mandatory year-level orientation. That was even worse. The Dean of the Faculty, course advisor and several senior lecturers and professors were seated when I looked through the door. I waited a while, hoping other latecomers like myself would show up, but after five minutes, no one else came to join me.“Fuck it, I'm going in,” I told myself.I braced myself. What's the worst that could happen? Getting yelled at in front of every course mate in my year. I hoped not, that would be embarrassing.I opened the door, briefly acknowledging whoever was at the podium. The heads of the senior faculty swung in my direction. Moving like wind, I slipped past the smug grins of my peers and dove into the first empty seat I could find. This was embarrassing. The orientation continued without an outburst or scolding from anyone. I was extremely lucky, or

HUNTER'S P.O.VThe sound of my alarm jolted me awake; my head immediately ached. It had only been an hour since I slept, and it was the best sleep I have had in days, since the break- since VeraVera. Her final class must be over by now, that was why I set the alarm. That's why I'm still here, in

  • YOU WRECKED ME    MOUTH FULL OF YOU

VERA'S P.O.V Hunter's hands grabbed the sides of my face. He bent to meet me, taking my lips into his. His kiss was soft. It lingered on my lips even after he pulled back. He dipped in again, consuming them once more, this time, our tongues battled for control. His was more dominant as it pushed t

VERA'S P.O.V I couldn't move an inch, let alone "get up". His presence was undeniable as his tall frame cut off what little light our nightstand had to offer. His shadow consumed me. My head was bowed and my hands still cradled my swollen neck. Hunter paused briefly, watching me till he

  • YOU WRECKED ME    FUCK ME BREATHLESS

VERA'S P.O.V Hunter's palm struck my cheek, forcing my head to snap to the side. For a split second, there was nothing, just a ringing white noise flooding my ears—then the sting came hot. "What do you want from me?" My boyfriend questioned. "Hunter," I whispered, my voice inaudible. "I'
