Chapter 2

Whoever that man was, the restaurant’s floor manager greeted him passionately as soon as he entered. The manager even wanted to push his wheelchair for him, but the man just lifted his hand slightly and stopped him.

The man’s expression was extremely cold, with a sense of distance that came from his very bones. Although he did not say anything, he emanated a powerful aura that made the toady manager and waitstaff surrounding him panic slightly.

However, that man ignored their reactions completely, controlling the wheelchair on his own and slowly wheeling himself into the restaurant.

“Miss Su, you took journalism at Z University?”

Su Kexin was still staring at that unknown man when Feng Zheng suddenly spoke from opposite her, pulling her attention back to him.

“Huh?” Su Kexin blinked for a bit before recovering. “Ah, yes.”

“Journalism major… and you’re 26 too. In other words, could you be in the same cohort as my ex?” Feng Zheng looked a little pleasantly surprised, as though he had discovered a new continent.

Su Kexin frowned imperceptibly.

Was it right to mention his ex at a blind date?

Before she could say anything, though, Feng Zheng’s next words made her expression change slightly.

“Hey, wait a sec. Su Kexin from Z University’s journalism course… Why do I seem to remember my ex mentioning that name before?”

Su Kexin’s hands gripped the corners of her skirt underneath the table, so forcefully that her knuckles turned white.

“That’s right, she did mention it before.” Feng Zheng did not notice the change in Su Kexin’s expression, lost in his own thoughts. Soon, he suddenly remembered something, and his expression stiffened as he stared at Su Kexin. “I remember now! You’re that Su Kexin! Su Kexin from Z University!”

Su Kexin turned even paler, but she tried to calm herself down, saying quietly, “Mr. Feng, I don’t know what you heard, but that was all a misunderstanding—”

“A misunderstanding? As if!” Feng Zheng looked at Su Kexin with outright disgust now. “My ex told me all about your little exploits! What the heck is up with that dating agency?! How could they match me up with a woman like you?!”

Feng Zheng’s voice grew even louder, and the customers at the other tables looked toward them. Su Kexin bit her lip tightly in fury and shame.

She really wanted to fight back, but what happened five years ago was a stain on her name that she could not refute.

“Bring the bill! Now!” Feng Zheng clearly did not want to spend one more second with Su Kexin, so he yelled loudly for the bill. The waiter hurriedly brought the bill over, and Feng Zheng pulled a coupon out of his bag without even looking at it, tossing it at the waiter. “Here, I’m paying with this coupon!”

When Su Kexin saw that crumpled coupon, she finally understood why she was “fortunate” enough to come for a meal at such a high-class restaurant. It was because Feng Zheng had a coupon.

“Sorry, sir.” To their surprise, the waiter looked troubled after he saw the coupon Feng Zheng had thrown at him. “This coupon has expired.”

“What?!” Feng Zheng’s expression finally changed, and he snatched the coupon back to look at it. He ended up looking even more upset.

“Um… Sir, could you pay?” the waiter asked carefully.

“Pay?” Feng Zheng stood up suddenly, looking agitated. “Why do I have to pay for a meal with a filthy woman? Hey, Su woman, I think you ate more than I did. You pay, then!”

With that, Feng Zheng did not give Su Kexin a chance to react. He quickly grabbed his coat from the chair and left the restaurant without looking back.

“Um… Miss?” Feng Zheng left too quickly, so the waiter had no choice but to turn to Su Kexin worriedly.

“It’s alright.” By now, Su Kexin had calmed down. “I’ll pay. How much is it?”

The waiter heaved a sigh of relief. “Five thousand and two hundred in total.”

“What?” This time, Su Kexin was completely dumbstruck.
