LOGINAlexander’s POV
The moment I stepped into the club, my eyes swept across the room..flashing lights, bodies pressed together on the dance floor, the bass vibrating through the floor. I took in everything. The VIP section to my left. The amber glow of the bar to my right. The men pretending not to stare. The women who didn’t even try.
A lady approached me, hips swaying confidently. I gave her one look..cold and uninterested. She turned back immediately. Not tonight.
Eyes followed me as I made my way toward the VIP. Some stared lustfully. Others watched with envy. It wasn’t my business. I didn’t even know why I was here.
When I needed to clear my head, I did that at the private bar in my penthouse. Not here. Not in noise. Not in chaos. Yet here I was.
I pushed open the VIP door, expecting to see Ethan and his so-called “client.” Only Ethan was there, typing on his phone. I sat down, a small smile playing on my lips.
“Where is she?”
“I’m not in for your teasing,” Ethan said without looking up. “As you can see, I’m the only one here.”
“Hm.” I poured myself a glass of alcohol and took a slow sip. It burned down my throat.
“What’s up, bro? You sounded off on the phone earlier,” Ethan said, finally looking at me.
I told him everything...every frustrating detail. My hand ran through my hair as I spoke. Silence settled between us when I finished.
“Will I ever see her again?” I asked quietly, my eyes dropping to the image on my phone.
Her.
The thought of never seeing her again felt like losing something I never fully had.
“It’s been two years, man,” Ethan said softly. “If it’s meant to happen, it will.”
We fell silent again.
“Let’s go down. Have some fun,” Ethan suggested.
I nodded.
He blinked. “Bro, I didn’t even put much energy into dragging you to the show floor tonight and you agreed immediately. That’s not you.”
He was right. When I’m frustrated, I isolate. VIP. Penthouse. Or distractions that mean nothing. But tonight felt different.
We moved to our usual corner on the floor..a strategic spot that gave a full view of everything. The dance floor was wild. Grinding. Kissing. People lost in the music.
“Going home later tonight?” Ethan asked.
I gave him a cold look.
“Man, chill. That stare can kill,” he laughed. Then he nodded ahead. “Look who’s coming.”
I followed his gaze. Luca Moretti...Ethan’s cousin. Owner of this club and several others.
“Alexander,” Luca greeted, shaking my hand.
“Luca.”
“Long time.”
“Work,” I replied.
“And women,” Luca added with a smirk.
“Say that to Ethan. He even brought one here.”
“Shut up,” Ethan muttered.
I smirked and excused myself to the bar. “A bottle of Macallan 30,” I said calmly.
“Yes, sir.”
I turned and collided with someone. A drink splashed across my shirt.
“Holy Christ! I’m so sorry!”
Her voice.
It did something to me.
I looked up.
Time stopped.
Everything inside me froze.
“Emma…” I muttered.

Emma’s POV
The moment we stepped into the club, heads turned.
“Damn it. This is why I don’t like clubbing. I hate attention.”
“You’re the one they’re looking at,” Lila laughed. “Your looks draw attention everywhere, not just clubs. Accept it.”
I chuckled.
Lila was already feeling the music. Her black crop top hugged her curves perfectly. An olive-green mini skirt rested high on her thighs. Knee-high black boots completed the look. She was a baddie.
She signaled for me to join her, and I didn’t waste a second.
We moved with the music. She turned her back to me as I matched her rhythm effortlessly. My black sheer corset hugged my waist. High-waisted shorts flared slightly at my hips. Thigh-high boots made my legs look endless.
We danced like we had no worries.
Until I got thirsty.
“Let’s get drinks,” I told her.
We headed to the bar. I ordered and took a long sip. Relief. We found a spot to sit.
A young guy approached us.
“That’s the friend I told you about,” Lila whispered.
“Hi, ladies,” he said.
I waved politely.
“This is my bestie, Emma,” Lila introduced.
“I’m Johnny. You’re beautiful.”
“Nice meeting you.”
I excused myself to grab ice for my drink.
And then it happened.
I crashed into someone. My drink spilled all over him.
“Holy Christ, I’m so sorry,” I said quickly.
He looked up at me.
My breath caught.
“Ah…” I trailed off, staring at the man in shock. Is he really? How can someone be this good-looking? Sharp jaw. Dark, intense eyes. Commanding presence.
Emma, get yourself together.
“I’m so sorry, I just ruined your”
Before I could finish, Lila grabbed my wrist.
“Let’s go.”
“Lila, wait”
But she was already dragging me toward the dance floor.

Alexander’s POV
Before I could snap out of it, she was gone. Dragged into the crowd.
I followed immediately but she disappeared.
Not again.
“Damn it,” I muttered, scanning the dance floor.
“Alexander, what’s going on?” Ethan asked.
“She was here.”
“Who?”
“Emma.”
Ethan froze.
“She spilled a drink on me. Before I could say anything, she was dragged away.”
He studied me. “Are you drunk?”
“I know what I saw,” I snapped. “I’m not drunk. And I’m not imagining things. She was here.”
Luca joined us. “Calm down. We can check CCTV.”
Minutes later, we were in the control room.
The footage played.
And there she was.
Clear. Real.
Her.
“She’s back,” I said under my breath.
She had changed...more mature, more confident. Even more beautiful.
Where has she been?
Anger surged through me. What was delaying that investigator from getting any information about her except her name? I hated incompetence.
I pulled out my phone and dialed him. He picked up on the first ring.
“You’re fired,” I said coldly.
Silence.
My voice carried authority. I didn’t need to explain.
Luca leaned against the desk. “I have my own investigator. You’ll get her whereabouts in less than two hours.”
“That’s a good one,” Ethan added.
“No,” I replied firmly.
They both looked at me.
“I’m letting this unfold naturally.”
For the first time in two years, fate had placed her directly in front of me. I wasn’t going to chase shadows again.
I walked out without another word.
Her face replayed in my mind..the way she had looked at me, those eyes, those lips. She wasn’t a dream. She wasn’t a memory. She was here. Right in front of me. And this time… I would play according to how fate wanted it....
Alexander’s POVI stared at my parents in shock; I wasn’t expecting them. Emma and I were still in the same position her sharp tongue had led us here… and I liked it.The moment she called me annoying, commanding… and hot, I knew she was finally loosening up around me. And the way she said my name—Alex—I lost it. She was driving me crazy, and I wanted to do reckless, deliciously insane things to her.I’d completely forgotten my parents were at the door; her soft voice snapped me back."Sir, can you let go of me?" she whispered, avoiding my gaze. The way she shrank into herself told me everything she wished she could disappear.I was enjoying every second of it. She was so innocent. I let go, and she stepped back. I turned to my parents, who were still standing at the door, shocked and wide-eyed.“Dad, can you please close the door at least?” I said, walking to my desk and sitting down.“Good afternoon, ma, sir,” Emma greeted politely. My parents didn’t answer immediately; their eyes w
Emma's POV My stomach growled for the third time. Definitely hungry. Lunch break, but I had to finish this work first. The past few weeks had been hectic. Alexander was such a workaholic that we’d been traveling to different states for meetings. He worked like he was desperate for cash. Speaking of which… today was payday. Can’t believe it’s already been a month. My phone rang, snapping me out of my concentration. I’d been staring at my screen for an hour without blinking. Reaching for it, I saw Alexander’s name. A smile tugged at my lips. Our friendship had turned out better than I thought. He often called me on my personal phone when it wasn’t about work.Leaning back in my chair, I answered. His calm voice filled the line.“Have you had lunch yet?”“Not yet! Just wrapping up some work, then I’ll grab a bite,” I said.“Come to my office, Emma. I ordered lunch for you.”I blinked in surprise. “What?.. I mean, why?”“Cause I want to,” he replied. “Friends do buy lunch for a friend,
Alexander’s POVWhen I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was Ethan sitting beside me, leaning forward, elbows on his knees, hands clasped tightly as if he’d been holding his breath all night. The worry on his face was impossible to miss. And the moment I saw it, I already knew what was coming, another lecture.A dull ache pulsed through my cheek, the lingering sting from his slap earlier. Normally, I would have complained, but pain had become something familiar, something I no longer bothered fighting. I took a slow breath and forced myself to sit up. My body protested immediately, a sharp ache ripping through my chest, but I ignored it.“Easy, man,” Ethan said quickly. “How are you feeling now?”“I’m good,” I replied shortly, avoiding his gaze.“Lex.”That nickname made me lift my head instantly. The worry was still there, but now it was heavier and more serious.Whenever Ethan called me Lex like that, it meant only one thing: we were about to have a real conversation. And hon
Alexander's POV Watching Emma laugh did something strange to me. It was the kind of sound I could listen to every day and never get tired of. Everything about her was different, and every moment we spent together only made me want her more.My mind drifted back to earlier this morning when she almost shook Foster’s hand. I didn’t like it. Not one bit. And when Eric called her that stupid pet name, the sudden urge to punch him nearly took over. Was I… jealous? The truth was, whenever Emma was around, I found myself reacting in ways I couldn’t even explain.“Sir, I need to use the restroom,” she said suddenly.“Okay, Emma,” I replied.I watched her walk away, her hair still tied in that stubborn ponytail. A smile tugged at my lips.Stubborn girl.My mind flashed back to what happened in my office earlier. All I had wanted was for her hair to be down. She looked beautiful no matter what, but when her hair was loose… God.When I loosened her ponytail that morning, the urge to push her ag
Emma's POVDoes he think I’m one of those girls he can flirt with?My fingers brushed through my hair, now loose around my shoulders. The memory of earlier kept replaying in my mind, making me wonder why he did that.“Miss Emma, what’s my schedule for today?” he asked.I took a slow breath, trying to compose myself, then opened my tablet.“You have a board meeting at 11 a.m. and a business lunch with Mr. Eric Adams at 2 p.m.,” I said calmly.“Get ready. You’re coming with me for the lunch,” he said without even looking at me.“Yes, sir.”I left his office, my mind racing all the way back to my desk.I wasn’t even sure why his behavior didn’t annoy me.Maybe because he’s hot?Ugh. Get it together, Emma.Once I got to my desk, I threw my hair into a ponytail and got to work.***A few hours later, I stepped into his office to remind him about the board meeting. He looked up with a frown. What’s with the attitude? Am I not allowed to remind him?He stood and walked toward me, making my h
Emma's POV My alarm went off at exactly 6:30 a.m.For a moment, I just stared at the ceiling, letting reality sink in.Today was my first day at Walton Apex capital..I glanced at the clock again. Morning routines are back, and I'm definitely not a morning person!I stepped into the bathroom, quickly freshening up before getting dressed. I kept my outfit simple but professional, beige tailored trousers paired with a fitted black top and sleek black heels. I packed my hair into a ponytail; it always helped me focus. After applying a light touch of makeup, I looked at myself in the mirror. Simple. Polished. Ready. I stepped out of my room and into the living room. Lila was already there with her coffee, and when our eyes met, a big smile spread across her face."You look amazing! Totally a 10/10," she said, handing me a cup of coffee."Thanks, babe," I replied, taking a sip of my drink."I'm giving you a ride to work today," Lila said."Aw, that’s really nice of you," I told her."Yo
