Jane and James had only been married for a few months before things went wrong. Mrs. Watson, James' mother, introduced another woman, Cynthia, with hopes of replacing Jane.
James Watson didn't want anything to do with this woman, and he made it clear by chasing her out of the house.
After some peaceful months passed, Jane gave birth, but James had a terrible accident on the same day.
James lost all memory of his beloved wife and instead chose Cynthia because he only remembered her as his childhood sweetheart.
Feeling humiliated, Jane immediately called for a lawyer, drafted a divorce agreement, and signed it that very night.
When the lawyer brought it to James to sign, he was initially hesitant, but his mother's influence made him sign it.
After giving birth, Jane had an operation and needed more time to recover, but she didn't want to stay in the same hospital as James after signing the papers. She was too angry to even stay the night.
Her father, Mr. Smith, brought a driver to take them to her marital home to collect her things before she left for good.
On the way, a car trailed them and ran the Smiths' car off the road, where it rolled down the cliff, off the highway, towards the provincial road.
After the final roll, Jane's head was bleeding from the fall. The last thing she saw was the guard at the front of the car trying to save her son. The pain was too much for her to bear, and her eyes could not open properly as a thin liquid trickled down her face. Broken glass covered her body and the ground. Her dad was unconscious, with a cracked head and probably a major concussion.
She called out to her dad.
"Oh my God. Dad!" She called to him, but he was unresponsive. She couldn't feel her right leg as she tried to move to see Ethan, her son. The car's side window was long gone, lost somewhere while rolling down the steep hill. Ethan was nowhere to be seen.
"Ethan- aahhh." She felt sharp pain wash over her leg as she tried to get out of the car. Although the crash had entirely removed the door, she couldn't crawl out because her leg refused to budge.
She grabbed her own leg, forcefully pulling it up, which caused a sharp object to tear her flesh like paper. The excruciating pain made her choke on a cry that got caught in her throat.
Steeling herself against the pain, she pulled herself out.
She didn't have time to focus on her injuries as she crawled towards her son. He had been ejected from the car via the broken window. His tiny body was splayed on the ground, meters away. She could hear him crying and breathed a sigh of relief.
Jane was in pain, but that was the least of her worries. She couldn't be sure whether it was a freak accident or if someone was purposely trying to kill them.
She stood up and looked at her leg. It nearly made her faint. A sharp object had neatly lacerated her leg all the way from ankle to knee. Blood was pulsing out in time with each rapid beat of her heart. If she put any weight on it, more blood oozed out.
She crawled around the car to get her dad out, dragging her leg through the dirt. She bit her lip and pulled her dad out.
Tolerating the pain, she touched him and saw he was still breathing.
She then checked the driver, but, unfortunately, he was already gone.
She heard the guard groaning in her attempts to leave the car.
"Are you okay?" the guard asked, holding her bleeding hand.
"I am far from okay, but I can hold on," Jane said, pulling herself towards her baby, who was still crying. She picked him up. He was crying bitterly. She couldn't see where he was hurt.
Wiping the blood trickling from her forehead, she opened the covering and found the baby was unscathed. Her shoulders dropped with a sigh of relief, and her tired arms held her newborn son tightly.
"Call the ambulance," she told Ruth, the guard.
After some searching, Ruth found her phone and dialed. "It's not going through," Ruth said as she moved to check on Jane's father.
"Mr. Smith is not doing well."
"What are we going to do?"
Gunshots interrupted Ruth's response. As Jane turned, she watched Ruth's body fall unnaturally. She didn't wait to be told.
Holding her son in one arm, she moved towards the shrubs nearby as quickly as her broken body allowed. The area was a bit open, and anyone could see her running among the short shrubs. It was more of a walking race. If she put too much pressure on her leg, the pain would be nearly unbearable.
She ran towards the road, hoping that someone driving by would help them.
Before she could reach the road, a gunshot halted her progress. She heard it, and a second later, she felt it, piercing right through her chest.
She collapsed, letting go of the child. There were no cars. She could hear vehicles from far, but it would be too late to save her.
"Why?" She asked the masked man that had caught up to her, pointing a gun straight at her face
"We are just cutting loose ends. This is the price you must pay for being with James. He is not your man," he said before turning the gun to point at Ethan and pulling the trigger.
"Nooo. My son"
Moving back into my high-end apartment, everything remained the way I left. Not a single thing was out of place.Everything in the living room was the same. I checked the room, everything saying it all. It was an abandoned room. I could see his face, his laughter, him throwing me cushions, us cuddling, watching movies on the 65inch TV. Tears welled up my eyes, but I could not bring my eyes to drop them. Sniffing and wiping my eyes, I moved from the living room towards the bedroom. I opened the bedroom door. The shoe rack at the wall behind the main door. The classy handbags are on the rack at the corner of the room. My books were on the shelves, the tissue where I left them crying. Everything was exactly where I left it. I moved to the wardrobe to check, and the only thing missing was his clothes. He didn’t leave even a single sock. It was clean. My heart shudder
I didn’t hear much about what my friends talked about different things throughout lunch. My mind was occupied with the images of the guy sitting at the corner. He seemed to have noticed me as well. He didn’t look outside again and kept on throwing glances at me. I didn’t know what he was thinking about, but I loved it.This was my first time feeling that way. Butterflies messing with my perfectly smooth and fat-free stomach.A few minutes later, his friends came over. They were stylish and very cheery. They all seemed to be from wealthy families who set our standards differently. With the thought of our different standards, I looked down on my own coffee, giving up on the idea of being friends with him.Seeing my downcast expression, Cindy could not give up asking questions like she always did“What’s wrong, love?”
That's how it all started. In the next few weeks, he was on my heels, trying to get me to have dinner with him. At first, I was skeptical about going in too deep into something that had doubts from the start. My new friends told me grew a seed of doubt in my heart. They say love is blind, and I can attest to that. James wooing me was amazing. It felt heavenly. My heart could skip each time he came to pick me up at the dormitories gate. I was the envy of most girls in college. Those that knew him saw me as another project on his list. That didn't bother me at all.All I wanted was to be in love and enjoy my life. I don't know what he thought about me at first, but I knew for sure he also felt something for me. I could tell from the way he looked at me. He was always glued to me each time he saw me.During the few times we went out to dinner, he would hug me when he took me back to the dormitories. I could always feel his fast-beating heart hugging him. It
The sight before me was unpleasant….The moment I pushed the door, he pushed the woman straddling him on the floor.“James!” That was the only thing that came out of my mouth. The sensation arising from my heart was hard to explain. I felt hurt in a way I didn’t express. Right before me was the man I loved and in a relationship with being with another woman. That was hard to take. I dropped my hand by my sides and turned to leave the room. Time seemed to have stopped at that time.James jumped out of bed wearing his sweatpants without his boxers and running after me. I assumed that it took seconds for him to follow after me.“Babe, babe, come down. Please listen to me,” He tried to say, but my mind was blank. To me, he was a traitor. He should be faithful to me. We have been together for over six months, and we had crossed so many stages for him to begin doing what I just saw.“I am sorry. Please giv
Things were back to normal between James and me in the next few weeks. We went on dates and enjoyed our time together as always. I knew I could not trust him to be all mine, and I had to accept that. Though that was the case, I could not ultimately come to terms with it. The number of women fighting for him was ever-increasing. Some of them even had the guts to threaten me to leave him. All these hurt me, but I stood my ground. My man is mine alone. For the next three years, things were good between us, and we planned to go to the next step. But first, we agreed for me to finish college first. James had taken his family business seriously. Things were moving smoothly, but I got a few calls from people I didn’t know. I didn’t pay much attention to the threats I got from the calls. At first, I did not tell James about them, but it became too much when someone stopped the Uber I was riding on to college one day. A you
James was naked in bed with another woman… It was not any other woman but the one that had stopped me on my way to university. The same woman he told me was a nobody. The same woman he said I should not worry about I didn’t know what to do. Looking at the other side of the table, I saw my dad looking at me with a worried expression. “What’s wrong, Jane?” “Nothing, Dad,” I said to him and stood to go out. My mind was blank. Did he just lie to me about going on a business trip? The wild thoughts running on my mind were too much at that moment. “Excuse me for a moment,” I said to my brother and dad before standing on my feet, pushing the chair behind me. I took long strides to the balcony of the restaurant. I wanted somewhere I could talk without the presence of others. The phone rang, and someone picked it
“Was there a business trip at all?” I asked the first thing that came to my mind“Yes, Hun. I was on a business trip. I didn’t know it was all arranged,” he explained to me, but my mind was on the pictures I received“So. Indeed, your family doesn’t want me due to my social class?” I said more of a statement“Where did you hear that from?” he asked me in a worried expression“I knew the day that lady stopped me. I waited for you to open up to me about the issue, but you never did. The photos today confirmed you really don’t love me as much as I thought,” I sobbed even more. I had cried till there were no more tears. My voice was hoarse.James ignored my struggles and hugged me from the ground to the couch. He placed me down on the sofa and hugged me. I let him do so“You should have told me about her. Why did you cheat on me again?” I asked him. He seem
I arrived in front of my new residence. It was a low bungalow house that was rented. It was a three-bedroom house. It was huge, but I liked it since it was at a throw-away price. The location was excellent and scenic. The security was also good. It was not far from the main road and easy to access transportation. I liked the place the most because of its beautiful scenic appearance and the green trees that surrounded the area.Swinging the gates’ key in my hand, I walked to the hard black gate and opened the mini gate. I entered the compound and locked the gate behind me.The green planted grass at the right side of the compound made my heart quiver in satisfaction. There was a made sitting area on that section with three relaxing chairs and a table. There was also a colossal umbrella fixed permanently on the place to keep the sun and rain away. It looked awesome
