I must say, walking with my two best friends did make me feel better about the recent developments I my life. Something about having them by my side makes me think it will all be okay.

That was until... we got detention, as I said we would.  Lilianna’s persuasion skills aren’t as good as she claims because she got detention as well.

“Great job guys.” I said sarcastically.

Lilianna laughed and kept walking, “Sorry, I'm a little rusty in that regard.”

As we walked into Mrs. White’s class, I was blindsided by a wave of what I can only describe as pure evil intent, but only for a second.

“Did either of you feel that?” I asked, puzzled.

Lilianna and Janea looked at each other, “Feel what?” they both asked.

What was that? How was I the only one that felt it?

Nothing, let's just get this day over.”

I couldn’t get over that immense feeling of dread that hit when I stepped into Mrs. White’s class and it lingered over me all day. Lilianna finally asked me about it at lunch and I just had to dodge the topic completely because in all honesty, I have no idea what happened. The rest of the day went by like normal until it was time for detention.

“You two are bad influences. I've never had detention in my life before this,” Lilianna said.

I rolled my eyes, “Whatever, let's just get it over with.”

We turned the corner onto D hall and at the end sat the detention room. I felt a jolt of electricity as I turned the doorknob. Then just like with Mrs. White’s class, a wave of negative energy surged forth. I didn’t even bother asking the others if they felt it this time.

The detention teacher, Mr. Quinn, looked at us with a look of pure hatred. “Back again are we Lexy and Janea? I'm truly tired of seeing you two here.” His voice had an obvious hint of animosity.

“I hate having to stay for detention on Fridays.” He said, standing.

Am I seriously the only one that feels the negative vibes coming off him?

Suddenly, a pencil whizzed by my face like a bullet. I looked up to see Mr. Quinn sprinting towards me, his eyes glowing blue and his face full of anger as he swung at me. I rolled out of my desk and kicked it at him. He jumped over it with ease.

I knew something wasn’t right. My teacher is a vampire, which makes me wonder who else is one as well.

Janea and Lilianna were by my side in an instant and I smiled.

“What are you going to do? It's one versus three plus I bet you only just became a vampire you probably don't even know what you're doing. Just give up.” I said confidently.

Mr. Quinn just laughed, “keep believing that while we beat you within an inch of your life!”

“We?”

Just as I asked, the classroom door blew off its hinges, and in the doorway stood Mrs. White, claws fully extended and ready to fight.

“You just had to say something,” Janea sighed.

Mrs. White broke into a full sprint and tackled me into the back wall. She punched me square in the face with such speed that I didn't even see her strike. She followed up with a ferocious right hook and then a kick to the stomach that made me double over in pain.

I’ve never actually fought another person while Mrs. White on the other hand, was a kickboxer before becoming a teacher so it’s no wonder why I'm getting my ass kicked. I tried to punch her but she sidestepped and landed another blow square on my chin which made me stagger backwards.

I really don’t know how to fight.

Mrs. White’s fast strikes left no time for me to think, let alone strike back. All I could do was block and retreat while her relentless assault pressed on. I tripped on my own feet and stumbled backwards creating the opening Mrs. White needed. As I stumbled, she planted a powerful kick directly in the center of my chest. A wave of pain rippled across my body and all the air in me rushed out as I hit the floor hard. Fortunately for me, Lilianna peeled her off of me allowing me to catch my breath and gather my thoughts.

All I could do was gasp for air while Lilianna and Janea fought our teachers.

Those two are better at fighting than me anyway.

I lie there panting like a dog, my chest heaving with every breath. Janea finally got the upper hand on Mr. Quinn, pinning him down and putting her knee on his back.

I caught my breath and sprung to my feet. The odds were in our favor now it was me and my sister vs Mrs. White and I planned to win this time. We charged her at the same time attempting to knock her down, but she was lightning quick in dodging us.

She delivered a devastating high kick to Lilianna’s cheek, drawing blood and knocking her down, but she recovered quickly. In the slight window of opportunity, I managed to tackle Mrs. White into a bookshelf. I tried to hold her down but she pushed me off. Before she could stand, Lilianna dove on her and together we held her down.

Finally, it’s over.

“Is it really?” A cold voice said.

The voice sent shivers down my spine instantly, it was a voice of pure evil. And even worse, it sounded familiar. I looked over towards the source. It was like looking in a mirror, a woman stood there leaning against the  doorframe of the classroom with a sly smile on her face.

I’ve never seen this woman before but I know her voice.

That intense pain in my side returned as I stared at her just like in the cafeteria. She had dark, blood red eyes and an emotionless expression on her face as she glanced over the classroom.

She looks just like me, what’s going on? No, it can’t be…

My heart sank as I realized who she was. The woman who has been killing me in my dreams for months, the woman that has turned my world upside down the last few days; my mother.

I almost vomited from the overwhelming feeling of pure evil coming from her just like when I encountered Mrs. White and Mr. Quinn, but far worse.

“There are my daughters!” She exclaimed loudly.

Vanessa lunged at me and tackled me to the ground. She straddled me and looked down at me, her eyes glowing dark red, almost black, with a look of pure hatred painted on her face.It was in that moment that I realized my sweet, innocent Vanessa really was gone, replaced by a monster made of twisted ideals, raw emotion, and an indomitable will to destroy humanity as we know it. She no longer saw me as her mother, but rather as an obstacle in the way of her achieving her goal. She raised her fists over her head and brought them down, aiming for my face. I leaned left, just barely dodging the blow, and rolled over, putting myself on top. I jumped backwards, allowing both of us to stand."Don't run from me!" Vanessa yelled as she sprinted at me full speed."I'm not running, trust me. Somebody's gonna die here tonight!" I said as I blocked a punch.Vanessa launched a volley of punches as she pressed forward, which kept me on the defensive. She was fighting with pure rage; her strikes were

"Vanessa, honey, Are you ok?" John asked worriedly.I didn't answer, I just stared straight ahead. I could feel a shift in the atmosphere. My mom has finally given up hope."I can't convince her anymore. My mom wants to kill me. Unfortunate really, the two of us together could've been unstoppable, but I won't let anyone get in my, not even her." I said.John looked at me with a shocked expression on his face. "You don't feel upset or sad or-or anything at all? I mean she is still your mother.""The only thing that upsets me about this is that she can no longer be an ally. I've tried to convince her to help me for years but now she's gone from potential ally to enemy. I will do what I have to do." I said without a shred of remorse."You really are cold," John said, astonished. "That's why I love you so much."I laughed, "you would love me regardless. Now," I said much more seriously, "I need to explain something very important to you.""What-""Just listen. If somehow I lose to my mom,

I knew there was no other way. I had tried time and time again to revert her back into that innocent girl who just wanted to explore the world. Now she wants so much more, too much even.I'm the only person who can stop her now. I'll have to kill my own daughter.Lexy ran up behind me and wrapped around my legs, almost causing me to fall. She had a worried look on her face as her big, red eyes welled with tears."Grandma, what's wrong?" She asked, her sweet little voice reminding me of the young innocence that my own daughter once displayed.I reached down and wiped a tear with my thumb. Then I picked her up and sat her on the kitchen counter."Nothing. Don't worry about it, you need to go to sleep, you have an important day tomorrow."It was obvious that she knew something was up. I swear she can pick up on the slightest negative feeling from someone else and somehow it affects her as well."Are you lying? You always say it's bad to lie. Where are you going?" She asked. She's so smar

I woke up in my bed to Lilianna and Janea standing over me, worry painted on their faces. “I’m so sorry sis! I don’t know what came over me, I couldn’t control myself. Please forgive me.” Lilianna shouted. My head was pounding, and each word sent a ripple of pain radiating through my body. “It’s ok Lili, dad was controlling you with that stupid watch, it’s not your fault. Also stop screaming, I have the worst headache of my life right now.” Janea now had a stern look on her face. “Explain everything that happened in that house. Now.” Oh, I hate it when she gets like this. So I explained the whole story up until she burst through the door. “Wow, no offense, but your mom sounds awful. And why would your dad revive her?” Janea said. I shrugged my shoulders. At the moment, I didn’t want to think about it. My life was so much simpler yesterday, but now I have a twin sister that was separated at birth, a crazy mom that wants to end humanity as we know it, and an even crazier dad th

  • fangs of fate   chapter 3: dad lore

The three of us left school immediately and headed to Lilianna’s house. I already had a list of questions to ask dad. Is he even my dad? Lilianna stopped us before we got to the door, “Janea, I think you should stay here for now. My dad has been acting weird the last few weeks and I think it has something to do with us,” she said pointing at herself and I. Janea nodded understandably. I walked in behind Lilianna as she called out for dad. “Hmm... he usually answers, he must be busy.” She said. She flipped on the living room light, and I jumped backwards. Sitting in the dark was who I assumed was her dad. Our dad? Oh I don’t know! “Daughter, you’re home! And who is your friend?” he asked in a raspy voice. “She’s my sister. And we want to know everything you know.” Lilianna asked in a stern tone. “Ok. As you two have already learned, you are sisters. Both of you are my daughters, but I wasn’t expecting you to find each other this quickly.” So they moved here just to find me? S
