Chapter 2

Waking up the next morning, Tierra was still tired.

She didn't get much sleep because:

1: the bed was super uncomfortable and 2: she slept really late.

She sighed, getting up from the bed and stretched her arms out, yawning a little.

Her hands rubbed her eyes before grabbing her basket. Time for another long day. She thought walking out the room.

As she walked out the palace she glanced around. Her body shivered at the sight of a male slave getting whipped, almost to death.

The King was smirking as he swung his whip, hitting the poor guy as he cried out in agony. Tierra tore her eyes away from the scene, not knowing how to handle the sight. She walked over to the field starting to work.

"Faster!" One of the soldiers yelled as he watched the women work. The satisfaction he got from the women obeying him was incredible. He loved it.

Tierra moved her hands quickly, picking out tomatoes that were still fresh, as the sun beamed against her delicate skin.

She wiped the sweat off her forehead feeling tired. "No breaks! Now work!" The soldier shouted swinging his whip and hitting one of the women.

She fell to the ground and cried out in agony.

The more she cried, the more she got hit.

Worse part is that she was pregnant.

Tierra cringed as she watched the scene. She couldn't do anything about it so she proceed to go back to work.

But the more she worked, the more the sun made her feel even more weak and before she knew, her body gave out.

__________

Damien

Damien stood outside, watching as people worked. A slave getting punished, women working in fields and some slaves getting killed.

He cringed.

Was this really how cruel he's going to be when he's king?

No. Mother taught me better. He thought.

Glaring at his father who was still punishing the poor guy, he shifted his gaze to the left, his eyes landing on the same woman, who he still hasn't learned her name. He couldn't deny the beauty that her face held.

Damien snapped out of his thoughts when he saw her collapse.

One of the soldiers was about to whip her but luckily he stepped in .

"Do your eyes fail to see that she is not well?" He scold at the soldier who was holding a whip. The women stopped working and glanced at him in shock.

"Ladies, take a break. That's enough of working for you. It's hot out here." He said while carrying the passed out girl in his arms.

"If I see you hurting any of these women you'll regret it, I swear." Damien gave the soldiers one last glare before walking away with Tierra in his arms.

He walked into his room and gently placed her down on his bed.

He touched her forehead checking her temperature. Honestly, he doesn't know what to do with her.

Does she have the flu or something?

He thought.

Tierra moved around snuggling in the soft pillows. Was she dreaming or was she for once sleeping in a comfortable bed?

She suddenly snapped her eyes open and glancing around.

Oh no. I fell asleep in the prince's room. She thought quickly standing up from the bed but stopped when she felt a pair of eyes behind her.

She looked behind her, her cheeks burning up.

"I-I...your highness...I d-don't know wha-" Damien cuts her off.

"You didn't do anything wrong. You collapsed in the field so I brought you here to my room." He said.

Tierra's eyes widened. "Uh...I should probably get back to work." She said looking around for her basket.

Damien stood up. "You are not going anywhere until I know you're okay." He said.

"N-no, really, you don't have to, I'm fine." Tierra faked a smile and made her way to the door but got pulled back.

Tierra let out a horrified gasp. "I'm not letting you go out there. You could get hurt." Damien said.

Why did I just say that? He asked himself. "Let me get one of the servants to get you some food. You must be starving." He rasped. Tierra furrowed her eyebrows. "I-I'm not allowed to eat at this time of the day. Look your highness, thank you but I should really get back to work." She said quickly running out the room.

Damien sighed, sitting down on his bed and running his fingers through his brunette hair. A soft knock on his door caught his attention. "Come in." He said. The door slowly opened and a servant came in but got pushed out off the way when the king stormed in, with a angry face.

"GET OUT!" He shouted at the servant. The servant cringed in fear before running out. The King closed the door behind him before glaring at his son.

"Who gave you the right to tell those filthy slaves to stop working, huh!?" He shouted.

Damien rolled his eyes before standing up from the bed. "They were tired and one of them collapsed. Others are even pregnant! What is wrong with you? When did you become so cruel?" He asked.

"Son, I've always been like this and if you want to be king I suggest you do it the right way." The king said before walking out.

Damien groaned in anger before punching the wall. "Fuck." He hissed looking at the blood oozing out the wound. He sighed before walking out the room and following his father in anger.

"What happened to you? You were never like this. What made you so angry? These people are human too, you know?" Damien pushed his father from behind.

The servants stopped working, and looked at the scene in front I of them, some of them gasping. The king turned around, glaring at him. "Don't touch me!" He gritted. No one has ever seen the king so angry.

"What did you do that made you so angry, father? FUCKING TELL ME!" Damien shouted pushing his father back. The king threw a punch. "I said don't fucking touch me!" He said in between punches. He took a deep breath before looking around.

"GET BACK TO WORK, YOU FILTH!" He shouted before walking to his office.

Damien stood up from the floor clutching his cheek in pain. The servants scurried off, not wanting to get into trouble but only one servant stayed behind. Tierra.

They both stared at each other for a moment, before she ran off outside.

He sighed and made his way back to his room.
