Chapter 1

Tierra bit her lip feeling her nervousness build up.

Her hands were shaky and sweaty.

She looked down at tray that she was holding. It had seven glasses of wine on top of it.

She took a deep breath before pushing the door in front of her open with her hip. Her heart started beating fast when the king stopped talking to his guests and looked over to her. She gulped and looked down, feeling her cheeks burn up.

They really know how to intimidate a chick. She thought, walking towards the large table where the king and his guests were sitting.

"Hurry up." The king said with a stern voice making her jump.

She carefully placed the glasses, one by one, in front of the guest, feeling Prince Damien's eyes gazing at her.

After she was done she bowed and quickly ran out the room, her heart beat quickening.

She closed the door behind her, letting out a breath she didn't know she was holding. "I can't believe Prince Damien is getting married to that tramp!" She heard Kelly say with a hushed voice.

"I know, right. Princess Lauren is not even queen material." Heidi scolds.

Tierra walked into the kitchen, her head bowed and her cheeks flushed.

Kelly rolled her eyes letting a scoff escape her lips. She never really liked Tierra. Tierra always acted like she is innocent, always blushing at stupid things. It always made Kelly want to slap her.

Living in this country as a black woman you needed to be tough, not weak like Tierra.

Tierra ran her fingers through her curly hair, walking over to one of the chairs and sat down. She could feel the four girls staring at her. "Shouldn't you be working?" Kelly asked with a attitude.

"I-I'm not sure what else to do." Tierra stuttered

"Well, you can start of by washing those dishes, thank you very much." Kelly said, smirking.

Tierra stood up from her seat walking over to the sink and started washing the dishes. Her mind went back to her sick mother who is now living alone.

She wished she could visit her but she can't. Being King Philip's servant or slave means you only get to leave this palace when you're dead. Until then you are not allowed any contact with your family.

All Tierra's mother got from her daughter was the $100 she would earn every week and a letter to let her mother know she's okay.

Thankfully Tierra made friends with one of the soldiers and she would ask him to go check on her mother. Dan was his name. He was a nice guy, hated the king like every other person in this country.

Nobody knows what made the king so angry. After his wife died he became cruel and changed all the laws in the country. Black people had no rights. If you were black, you knew what your future job was. A slave.

The king is known for many unspeakable things. He kills people for his own pleasure. He's a sick man.

"Tierra get your mind out of the gutter, would you. The Prince is speaking to you." Kelly said rolling her eyes.

Tierra jumped her cheeks burning up. She shyly looked at the Prince who was standing behind her. "Y-yes your highness?" The Prince squinted his eyes at her. "I asked if there is pie." He said. "Uh..I...i-i" Tierra stuttered but Kelly cut her off.

"Yes your highness. There certainly is." She smirked at Tierra. "Bring it up to my room, please." The Prince said before walking out. Kelly giggled grabbing the pie swaying her hips as she walked out.

Tierra sighed going back to scrubbing the dirty plates.

___________

Damien's POV

"Thank you." Damien muttered as he took the pie from Kelly. Kelly smiled innocently staring at Damien. "You can go now." He said taking a bite from the pie.

"Uh...right." Kelly said feeling disappointed. She walked out the room and Damien rolled his eyes.

To be honest he would rather stay up in his room than sitting with his family while his father arranges his upcoming wedding.

Damien rolled his eyes at the thought of Lauren. She's so fucking annoying. He grumbled in his head.

A knock on his bedroom door cut him off from his thoughts. He sighed. "Come in." He called out. The door opened as a young lady walked in with her head bowed down. The Prince recognized her from the kitchen.

She was the girl who washing the dishes.

"Y-your highness..." She bowed before continuing what she wanted to say.

"The King ordered me to come and get you." She bit her lip.

The Prince rolled his eyes. "Alright, I'll be right there." The young lady bowed before walking out the room.

_______

"Yes, father?" Damien asked as he walked into his father's office where he and his future wife, Princess Lauren were sitting. He sat down on one of the chairs sighing in annoyance.

"I called you here to tell you that the wedding is in a month." The King said proudly glancing at Lauren who was smirking.

Damien's eyes widened. "What!?" He exclaimed. "No...no. Father, you can't just plan out my whole life like this! I don't even know this woman!" He shouted angrily.

King Philip stood up from his seat glaring at his son. "It's either that or you'll not be king." He said sternly. Damien took a sharp breath in. He glared at Lauren before storming out his father's office.

Why Lauren? That bitch doesn't even know how to be a proper princess, let alone the fucking queen. Damien sighed as he made his way down the hallways of the palace.

Not looking where he was going, he bumped into someone making them spill water over him. The person gasped.

"O-oh my God. Your highness. I am so sorry." The lady said her eyes watering a little bit.

Her again? "No it's fin-" he got cut off by Tierra trying to wipe the water off him, tears already escaping her eyes.

"I-I am so sorry your highness. Please don't punish me." She pleaded.

Damien frowned. "No, it's okay, really. I was going to bed anyway." He shrugged. Tierra let out a shaky breath wiping her tears away and looked up at the Prince who was no doubt very handsome.

"Don't worry about it." He smiled at her.

"Where are you going in such a hurry? Aren't you suppose to be sleeping?" He asked glancing around. "I-I -" she got cut off by Lauren walking down the same hallway as them. "Didn't I tell you to get me some water?" She asked harshly. "I-I" Tierra struggled to get the words out, afraid that she would get into trouble.

"Lauren, what are you still doing here?" Damien asked glaring at Lauren.

"Baby, I've been looking everywhere for you." Lauren said ignoring Damien's question.

"Slave, go run us a bath. You must be really stressed, baby." She cooed in Damien's ear. Damien pushed her off him. "Don't touch me!" He shouted. He glanced at Tierra taking the tray from her.

"Go to bed, you must be tired. Lauren can get her own water." He said.

"B-bu-" Tierra stuttered but Damien cut her off. "Really, it's okay." He smiled at her.

"Goodnight." He said waving at her. Tierra furrowed her eyebrows in confusion walking back to her room...that she sadly shared with 9 other women.

"Are you crazy? She doesn't deserve your kindness!" Lauren shouted. Damien rolled his eyes walking past her and into his room. I'm not in the mood for her. He thought falling down on his bed.
