-ANNA-

“She’s also carrying the next Alpha of the Flaming Moon pack.”

Those words kept playing in my head as I stared at the divorce agreement in my hands. It had been a week since the heartbreaking incident, yet I hadn’t found a space in my heart to plead for a second chance nor signed the divorce agreement.

Linda, who happened to be silent, soon came to stand before me with several threats, and she was never alone, not even once. Jake might have sensed how angry and broken I am, so he made sure she never came near me alone. Whenever she was next to me, she faked countless tummy aches and had the guards lie along with her that I had hit her.

He didn’t look at me and didn’t sense his fetus, the true heir. Instead, he smacked me hard and made me regret every single day I spent with him. Beatings soon became petty talk and insults, with body shaming coming from every corner I walked and the rumors…

There was no other way to express my pain than the tears that streamed down my eyes every single night while they made love till daybreak. After a week of torture, I was finally prepared to make my decision. The decision would affect both me and my unborn child.

Even though my love for him proved so strong that my heart broke into a million pieces, I realized that I had a reason to live. I had something more precious to protect than this love that had drowned me so deep.

“Live happily with your heir,” I said softly as I handed him the divorce papers. I had signed the paperwork and accepted the fact that I wasn’t Luna anymore, even though that wasn’t supposed to be. I didn’t want him finding out about our child, my final plan to win back my position and power.

“Disgusting.” Linda held her nose up as I walked past them. I didn’t reek; there wasn’t a single bad scent on me, yet she pushed me down the stairs like I was trying to suffocate her.

“Arghh.” I groaned as I fell to the floor. My back ached, my hands were all bruised, and my knuckles were unable to form a single fist. She walked towards me with a body spray in her hands. “Try to take a shower.”

She sprayed me like I was some insect, tugging my hair till I rose to my feet. “Jake belongs to me now. You were just his puppet that brought him wealth and power. Now that we have it all, you’re of no use to us.”

When she finally let me go, I caught sight of Jake. That smirk was filled with nothing but cruelty and greed. I could see it now, his true purpose for ever taking care of me. He didn’t love me; it was all just his plan to become the Alpha. But that’s exactly what will lead to his doom… ignorance.

My luggage came flying out one after the other, laughter erupting as I struggled to relieve myself of the stress by sitting down before it. They called me all sorts of names, told me I could travel with all my luggage since my body was a storage house, and dared to call me a disgrace to my bloodline.

With that, I knew I had no other choice but to leave. I grabbed the little that I could, heading out with hopes that I might survive if I explained my story to a friend of mine, but he was way ahead of me.

Immediately, I stepped out of the lair, and I was accused of treason; the guards chased after me with dangerous intent in mind. I could feel it, the various danger signals that kept pricking my skin. I tried shifting into my wolf form, but I couldn’t, giving them a higher advantage over me.

I escaped into the forest, leaving the pack’s territory, but I was still being chased. What more could they want from me? My money and power had been taken; my lover has fallen for someone he claims is more sexy than me. What else?

“I want her dead!” The sight of Jake standing before me with his claws clean and nasty made my jaw drop. I fell to the floor, the leaves rustling as he approached me slowly. “Did you really think you could keep that child away from me?”

I shrugged, moving backwards till my back was against a tree. They surrounded me in minutes. Jake stood before me, a smirk crawling onto his lips as he stared at me. He took a squatting position, his claws trailing my tummy as he ripped off my shirt.

“I’ve filled the papers; I’ve done everything you asked. What more do you want from me?” I questioned.

He chuckled.

He pressed a claw into my belly, the pain making me gasp. “I can’t have a baby running around in that belly of yours. Remember how fragile you are; I’m just doing my part to protect you, my last job as your husband.”

“I’m keeping this baby!” He smacked me on the face. Blood gushed out of my mouth, my tummy dripping as he proceeded with his claws. “If anyone is to have my baby, that will be Linda, not an ugly, fat, and disgusting whore like you.

I wailed as he gave the command. They kicked and slashed like I was the enemy, beating me up and cutting me out till they were sure that I wouldn’t survive. When Jake realized that I was falling unconscious, he came to my ear, the words slipping out, “Thanks for giving me the chance to prove to you that you don’t deserve a shard of love.”

My eyes slowly closed up, tears rolling down my cheeks as I fell to the ground. Their footsteps faded, and I was left alone, with no one to help the overthrown Luna.

I had no chance of survival; I knew that, but I prayed for a chance to return, a chance to get back at Jake and take over my rightful title as the Alpha of the Flaming Moon pack.

Alpha Nicholas Shafter's POV Darkness. That was all I saw. I found myself in an endless void where no wind stirred, there were no stars, and there was also no sound, not even echoes. The only thing I heard was the slow pounding of my own heart. This was not the first time I would be here. In fact, I felt like I spent most of my lifetime, drifting in this dark abyss. Sitting down with my knees pulled closer to my chest and my arms wrapped around myself as if I wanted to protect my body from the emptiness. My lips kept trembling as I whispered into the dark. "Why me?" My own voice came back to me and I quickly gulped. "Why was I born only to suffer? Why do I keep coming back here?" My eyes closed and the memories came back. I was the unwanted child, the son of the Alpha who was not wanted by his father. I was the illegitimate prince of the Shafter Pack and I was born into the palace not as a son but as a servant, an omega. My father’s concubines always looked at me with di

Anna's POV Everything I had gone through started flowing back into my head. Starting from what I went through in Linda's and Alpha Jake's hands. I was supposed to have a happy ending not one to get destroyed by Alice and the invincible army created by her uncle, James. Even when I became the Alpha, all the sacrifices I made for the pack, my father's legacy. I had to kill this man to make sure all that were not wasted. No matter how hard this proved to be, I must see it to the end. It was just like a second chance for me. "I only wanted to save myself and the people of my time," I whispered to myself. My hands trembled as I looked at him. "Just to make sure that Alice won't have the invincible army before I leave this world." My eyes narrowed. The words in my mind sharpened into a vow and it encouraged me. "I can't let you live, Alpha Nicholas Shafter." I pulled out a dagger and raised it up with my fingers stiffened around the hilt. Slowly, I stepped forward with the aim of

Anna's POV Before she could realize what was happening, I slammed a sharp strike into the side of her neck and her eyes bulged instantly while she exhaled a strangled gasp. I brought up my low voice after a dry chuckle. "Didn't you say you are the best in the pack. If you, the best is like this, how will the worst be."? Immediately, Wendy collapsed and her body hit the ground with a thud. Her eyes were still wide open in disbelief but the twinkle in her eyes had vanished. I dusted off imaginary sand away from my sleeve and walked off without sparing him another glance. I followed Wendy's direction and found myself at Alpha Nicholas' Fort. Torches glowed faintly against the night with long shadows against the stone walls. A handful of guards were patrolling the gate while their armor kept clinking softly. "Your Highness!" They stopped and bowed politely with respect as they caught a hold of my sight. I did not respond but my expression was a mask of cold determination. I cont

Anna's POV I quickly remembered everything Sturbridge told me about the man I came here to kill. He was the most powerful back in his time; no one could match his power, and he was literally not killable. The only way I could kill him was to get to him before he became a celestial demon. He didn't become a celestial demon until he got me, his wife, pregnant. So I had to kill him now before he would get me pregnant, easy peasy. On the other hand, for some reason that I didn't know, Wendy kept shivering violently beside me. She didn't seem cold but her bones kept rattling as if frost had pierced into her marrow. It seemed like she was suspecting that something must have awakened in me. She turned her head away as her breath kept hitching. My stern eyes bore into her with sharpness as if I had a killing intent so deep, like I wanted to claw at her soul. "Hey, Wendy!" I said with a thin and dangerous smile. "How do I get back to my residence? How do I get back to my husband?" We

Anna's POV My breath felt like it was caught and squeezed by a giant invisible hand while my chest constricted. Out of all the cursed names and all the cursed places, Shafter Pack was the only one I wouldn't wish anyone to get associated with. My father used to tell me about them, how powerful, brutal, and merciless they were. Their power and brutality were so bad that all the other packs came together to annihilate them before my time. Sturbridge's words were also clear and simple. The only way to defeat Alice was to go back to the past to kill Margaretta's mother's ex-husband within his pack territory. And that pack was none other than the Shafter Pack. Sharp chills swept over my spine and I felt as if ice was cutting into my marrow. My gaze snapped back to Wendy in despair. "Tell me his name," I demanded. Wendy blinked as if she was confused by the intensity of my tone. "His name, my Lady?" "Yes!" my voice cracked as it had become raw with fear while my heart thundered in

Anna's POV Despite being an unexpected piece of information, I did not linger on it. I still had plenty of time to know about this world and the woman who owned this body that I had just taken over. For now, I should be focused on finding her particular husband and how to get the power to kill him. I sat down cross-legged with my breath steady and my hands formed into a triangular shape. My current goal was clear and that was to forge a spiritual root in this body so that I could absorb some of my powers from my timeline. I could sense that her frame was fragile compared to my trained Alpha body, but it was still adaptable. Just as fragile bodies could react fast when they drink poison or hurt themselves and go through grueling hardship, fragile bodies could also be coaxed easily and reshaped to fit the desired needs. That was something I learnt from Nicholas. I just had to guide it into readiness. Now, it was time to start building it for transformation. I closed my eyes and dr
