Chapter 1: The End

My name is Alana. For everyone, I am the good girl, the understanding wife, the woman who will forgive everything. But tonight, that good girl died.

I stood outside the hotel room, my hands shaking while holding my phone. On my phone screen was a message from my husband's friend, "Don't go to Hotel Luxe, Room 305. You will only hurt yourself." But I needed to see it with my own eyes.

I pushed the door open. And there he was. My husband Daniel, the man who promised me forever in front of God, was in bed with another woman. My best friend Clara.

He did not even look surprised to see me. He just looked annoyed, like I was interrupting something important.

"Alana? What are you doing here?" he asked coldly.

I could not speak. Tears were falling but I refused to make a sound. I will not beg. I will not scream like a crazy woman.

Clara covered herself and pretended to cry. "Alana, it's not what you think..."

"Enough," I said, my voice calm but breaking inside. "Sign the divorce papers tomorrow, Daniel. I am done."

I walked away that night with my head high, even though my heart was shattered. I left my wedding ring on the table.

I walked out of that hotel like a queen, but inside I was dying. I went straight to my small apartment, locked the door, and finally let myself cry. For hours, I cried for the love I gave, for the years I wasted.

The next morning, I woke up with swollen eyes but a clear mind. I looked at myself in the mirror. No more crying, Alana. No more being weak.

I took my laptop and started to work. I have my own online business, small but it is mine. I will make it big. I will show Daniel that I don't need him to live.

But my phone kept ringing. Daniel calling. Clara calling. My mother in law calling. I turned it off.

Three days passed. On the third day, someone knocked on my door. I opened it, and there was Daniel, holding flowers but his eyes were red, like he had not slept.

"Alana, please, let's talk," he said, his voice breaking. "I made a mistake, a big mistake. Clara means nothing, I swear. I love you."

I looked at him, the man I once loved more than my own life, now begging at my doorstep. My heart wanted to forgive him immediately, because I am that good girl. But my mind said no.

"You already made your choice in that hotel room, Daniel," I whispered. "Now I am making mine. Leave."

He left, but I know he will come back. Because men like Daniel only realize the value of a good woman when they lose her. And this time, I will make sure he feels the pain he gave me.

For five years I gave you everything. I cooked for you, I waited for you, I understood your vices and friends. But you never saw my value. You chose to hurt me. I am not your good girl anymore. From now on, I will live for myself. If you want forgiveness, you have to earn it.
