CHAPTER 20
An hour passed as he just sat there, deciding what to do. He wasn't sure when she would come back, and when she did, then what? Her feelings wouldn't change. She'd still be mad at him. She'd still hate him. Arius got to his feet and shoved his hands into his pockets. He shuffled his feet as he walked, heading towards the door."Humans are such a pain," he mumbled as he left the house, remembering to lock the door behind him. Jaida would really hate him if someone broke into their house because of his carelessness. He walked aimlessly down the streets, deciding that it was best to look for her. However, he didn't have a clue as to what he would do once he found her. It would depend on the circumstances. If she was crying, maybe he wouldn't even approach her. Unfortunately, that was the most likely. So without further delay, he picked a direction and stuck with it. Th

CHAPTER 21
Lucius seemed a bit smug right now. He was too smug actually. He looked as though he was hiding something, like he had some kind of trick up his sleeve. "Are you really going to use your magic on me?" he asked Arius, sounding as if he was innocent. His question was followed by a smile. Arius hated that look. The angel was just too cocky. "I wouldn't do that if I were you.""And why not?" he asked with a deep scowl, preparing to release his spell at any moment."Well, you could," began Lucius as he turned around fully. Arius' eyes widened when he saw that Lucius was holding a human in his arms, and not just any human. He was holding onto Jaida, her limp form dangling in his grasp. "That is if you'd like to kill her too.""What did you do?" demanded Arius angrily, the ball of swirling electrici

CHAPTER 22
Arius stood atop one of the tallest buildings in the city. His crimson eyes were scanning the sky for any signs of Lucius, but he couldn't see him. Where is he? I know I can sense him, but I don't see him anywhere. Arius quickly took to the skies, still scanning the area for the white winged angel. He was going to kill him this time. Lucius had to die. Taking hostages was anything but honorable. If he couldn't fight fair, then Arius wasn't going to hold back at all with his attack.Arius passed over a few buildings, deciding to go a bit higher. He scanned the sky again, and Lucius's presence suddenly grew a lot stronger. He was either getting closer or the angel wanted him to come. Either way, he sped up and scanned the skies a bit faster. He looked up a little, and there floating high above the buildings was Lucius. He was still a pretty good distance away from Arius position.Just when Arius was about to fly towards him, he stopped and watched as Lucius grabbed Jaida's wrist and tore

CHAPTER 23
Arius began to descend, heading right for Jaida. He pulled up a bit and landed gracefully on the building top. He looked to Jaida, who still seemed a bit shaken up. He couldn't really blame her. This incident would probably scare just about anybody. He had to give her credit for not panicking too much. For a human, she was very mentally capable of accepting all of what was happening. After all, not many would believe that an angel was trying to destroy their planet."Let's get going, alright?" he told her, approaching her slowly as he held out his arms. The only way to get off the building would be to fly. However, when he took a step closer, she took a step back, keeping her eyes on him the whole time.He stopped when he realized that she kept backing away. He frowned a bit, wondering what was wrong. Hadn't he just saved her life? Didn't she trust him? What more did she want?"Look," he began, "I know you hate me, but I have to take you back home." She still wouldn't go to him. She ju

CHAPTER 24
Jaida just gave him a wink and disappeared back into her room. Arius just stood there, blinking in confusion. He wasn't sure what she was doing inside, but she wouldn't just leave him standing there, would she? She wasn't going to go back to bed without telling him, right? This was her fault. He didn't want to be awake and alone right now."What're you doing?" he asked, demanding an answer."Just wait a minute, alright?" she told him. He stood there for a few moments, his arms still crossed and his foot still tapping impatiently against the wooden floor. It didn't take too long for her door to reopen. She now stood there with her dark brown hair neatly combed out and a casual outfit on. It was another hot day, so she had gone with a light pair of khaki colored pants and a red shirt. She smiled at Arius once again before walking out of her room, leaving it a slight mess. Her bed was still unmade, and there were different items of clothing strewn across her floor. She began to head down

CHAPTER 25
Arius relaxed a bit and sat back comfortably in his chair. He calmed down enough to at least answer her question."The council is a group of Deslyans who decide what the rest of us do," he told her calmly. He shot her a small glare, and she got the hint that he didn't want her asking anymore questions about him or the other Deslyans. She wasn't sure why it mattered so much, but she quickly remembered that she wasn't even supposed to know about him. When she had first mentioned his wings, he had nearly killed her on the spot. Right now though, in exchange for her life, she was helping him. She wasn't sure what the point was if he was just going to have to kill her anyway once Lucius was dead. At least if she hung around Arius, she could live for a little longer, right? As soon as they were finished, they left and continued wandering the city. There wasn't too much to really do if you didn't have money, and Jaida was really running short. Her two weeks allowance wasn't that much (maybe a

CHAPTER 26
Arius walked around a bit more in the area, knowing that Jaida wouldn't have gone too far. She knew he didn't know the city that well. She wouldn't just abandon him. However, he just couldn't see her, and no matter how many times he called out to her, she never answered. He walked back to the department store, looking around a bit more."Damn it," he cursed softly. "Where'd she go?""Are you looking for someone?" asked a voice beside him. Arius glanced over and then downwards, seeing a relatively old man sitting against the brick wall of the store. He looked a bit poor, and he had a tin can in front of him. Arius had seen these people before. Jaida had told him that they were unemployed men and women who were too poor to afford a house. They usually collected money from sympathetic passersby. "Yeah," said Arius, not wanting to say too much t

CHAPTER 27
Jaida sighed mentally, her frown turning into a small smile. She had been sure he would just insult her a bit more. It's not like what he had said was much of a compliment anyway, but she decided that that was as good as it would get. There were only two types a humans in the world according to Arius. There were those who were useful and those who weren't. She was happy to be in the first category. After all, if she wasn't useful, Arius would just get rid of her. "So tell me," began Arius, looking to Nero. "Why are you here?" "I have a message from the council," he began, his expression becoming quite grim. Whatever he had to say, it probably wasn't very good. "They need you to kill Lucius this time. He can't be allowed to escape again.""I know that," said Arius with a scowl. "Who does the council think I am?" Nero just smiled a bit. Jaida was ha

CHAPTER 28
Jaida had spent the rest of her day reading in her room while Arius was either lying in his bed, pacing the hallway, or watching television, something else that greatly fascinated him. He was always saying how primitive their technology was compared to what was in his world, yet he was always so fascinated with everything, especially the electronics. Strange as it was, he spent a lot of time watching the news, learning about the rest of their planet along with the things that went on in their city. It was currently around eleven o'clock, and both Arius and Jaida were exhausted, considering the fact that Arius had gotten up at around six thirty and got Jaida up an hour later. They were both in dire need of sleep, and they'd be able to sleep in tomorrow for a few hours at least. They didn't have to go back until Wednesday, so they'd make the most of it.Jaida's eyes opened, but she was met wi

CHAPTER 29
Jaida just stated at it for a while, marveling at how beautiful it was. She then realized that she had no idea why she was holding it. How had she gotten such a thing? Whose was it anyway? It was then that she remembered her dream. Lucius had spoken to her. He had told her to take something. He had called it a keystone. She had a sneaking suspicion that that was what she was holding. She also knew who its owner was."Damn it!" she heard Arius yell, his voice breaching the wall between their rooms. Jaida quickly got out of bed and pulled on a housecoat, tucking the keystone deep in her pocket. She then ran to Arius' room to see what he was so angry about. He was always angry, but this seemed a bit serious.Jaida reached his room. He was still dressed in his school uniform, which he had worn yesterday. He was currently tearing his room apart, throwing things everywhere. He seemed to be searching for something, and searching frantically at that. Whatever he had lost was obviously of great
