Bonus chapter [Ada 9]
What happened at Mr Ian's mansion, you might be wondering, but the repercussion of it was right in my hand in form of a pregnancy skit test, which was showing me two glaring lines, meaning I was pregnant. I sat on the floor, immediately hugging myself tightly as if I was cold.  "What did I get myself into." I thought.  I thought it was just the flu, but coming to think about it, is this all what the whisperings and stares at the office was all about. How am I going to go through this. Abortion was totally out of it, I still carry the guilt of killing Dumbi's child just because I didn't want to be labelled as one of his baby mamas. But honestly I did it because a part of me believed Kene could still be mine.  I breathed heavily, different thoughts, most especially ones that had something to do with my wrong doings, slashed through my mind like a two edged sword. The long time wounds began to open up and it

I've never been this nervous before, I submitted my resignation letter this morning, I know Chi would be so mad at me, but the thing was that I already made up my mind. The last thing I wanted was for Mr Ian to find out about my pregnancy. I dragged my feet down to the powder room slowly, ignoring the curious look the staffs were giving, they could say hurtful things behind my back but definitely can't say it to my face, cowards and rumour carriers.  I sighed heavily as I doused my face with water.  "Are you fine? " a familiar voice asked, I turned around to find Thelma behind me.  "Yes," I whispered softly.  "Are you sure? " she asked again.  "Yes, I am. " I replied looking away. "Okay, but if you need anyone to talk to. I'm here for you." she replied, tapping my shoulder before exiting the room. &nb

I sat down in the mini eatery I owned reminiscing as I watched what was going on around the eatery, my staffs could be seen going about their tasks dutifully, the cleaners were mopping the hard white tiles, while the waiters were of course taking orders from the customers that kept piling in.  The eatery was a sight to behold, it wasn't that big but it was beautiful, the coloured chairs and tables added a touch of sophistication to it. One of the reasons why we get crowds everyday most particularly workers on their Iaunch breaks was because of the homely feeling the eatery had, it has the charms of drawing people in.  I fiddled with my fingers most especially the one that should be bearing an engagement ring, I sighed heavily, breathing in softly. A Nollywood movie was playing on the large TV set that dwafted one to the seat. One of the famous Nollywood actress could be seen gesticulating on the screen, I recognized the movie as th

If I hadn't come earlier to the eatery to try out a new recipe, I would not have seen her. Something about her gripped my gaze. With a quick step she walked through the foyer of the eatery, she had this eager kind of look on her face, she was not even paying attention to the weird stares she got from the workers. I was on my way to the small kitchen when I noticed her.  I smiled to myself, she was an absolute  welcome diversion, appreciatively I noticed her hour glass figure and her voluptuous curves, she was tall and her figure was'nt that set off by her well fitted cream suit and flat shoes. But she was very okay.  I find it hard to believe I didn't notice how pretty she was until now. Her hair a black Afro was braided and parked up in a bun.I couldn't believe I ignored her entirely, without showing any form of interest, even though she chased and chased.  I stared at her, watching her to discreetly to see what she was

The music 'There is fire on the mountain' by a popular Nigerian musician emanated from the compact disc player in my car. I sang along furiously. I was angry, very angry at the federal government of Nigeria. I switched off the disc player and increased the volume of the radio. An angry voice could be heard.  "The police that are meant to be protecting the citizens of the country are the ones molesting us and causing us harms. Imagine, they were even shooting at the youths during yesterday's peaceful protest. So many life's were lost yesterday. Yet the government has not done anything about it, what is happening in Nigeria?" The feminine voice asked the radio presenter.  I tightened my fist in anger, watching all those videos of how the so called police treated the youths of this country. Absolute rubbish.   "I understand you, I clearly understand y

A low music could be heard playing at the background as I walked around the gym. The weather was a bit chilly, that explains why the gym wasn't full today. I could count the people that were in, just about seven to ten, males in particular. The females probably won't come in not until noon. Like the mini eatery down the street, I own and manage this small gym too, it is not large, neither does it have any touch of sophistication but I have great plans for it. I have the intentions of making it more big and equipped than this. As usual, following my daily routine. I was here for my usual morning check in. I walked round the gym step by step with my both hands in the pocket of my grey joggers. The smell of the lavender air freshener I bought at the store the previous month lingered round the gym. I sniffed and inhaled deeply in appreciation. The smell was welcoming,  it will definitely cover up the smell of sweats cause it was really stro

I was glad the eatery wasn't that crowded when I got there with Alma. I ignored the stares, I bet my staffs were curious to know the identity of the lady beside me, another topic for their discussions and gossips during closing hours.  I walked in, hand in hand with Alma, I led her directly to my small office.  The office was not that big, but it sure had an official look. It was neat as I made sure the cleaners took proper care of it. A opened log book could be found on the desk, the walls of the office were painted white with large black polka dots on it. The white drapes at the window contrasted well with it. A water dispenser was placed at the right corner of the room.  I sat on the desk and made Alma have her sit on my own chair, instead of the one meant for the guests. We sat in silence for a few minutes. The rattling sound of the AC was the only thing that could be heard.   Alma Blossom was the first w

Three weeks later. The chirps of the morning birds making their usual sounds roused me up from sleep. I rose up and padded barefooted to the bathroom to relieve myself. My ears perked up as I heard a loud knock on my door.  "An early Saturday morning." I muttered under my breath, as I wasn't expecting any guests today except for my girl friend Alma Blossoms. Yes, I and Alma started dating some weeks back and it has been going on well.  "who is there?" I asked, raising my voice a little bit higher as I walked shirtless to the sitting room, I proceeded to open the door gently without confirming who it was.  "Nancy!" I exclaimed staring at the short woman in a black fitted body con gown.  "What are you doing here? " I asked, trying not to look at her cleavage. "I came to check up on you. Anything bad in that?" she asked, pushing the door wide

The day was beautiful, the weather was perfect for an outing, the sun was shinning bright and the sky looked beautiful, the white clouds were drifting into the blue clouds, forming different lovely shapes, firstly I pictured a shape as a puppy, then it drifted again and formed a boat like shape that looked a little bit like a bungalow then suddenly it dispersed like a mist, forming the shape of an hunter or was it a street light.  I blinked my eyes rapidly, looking away from the sky, it was like the clouds was playing pranks with me, guess our shapes.  I brought out my iPhone and took a three different pictures of the beautiful sky. I scrolled over to my Instagram page, not hesitating to upload the pictures I took, I added a caption which says 'Just take a look at nature'  Today I and Alma made plans to go visit my mum and after that we could go visit her family. It was kind of funny to me and I'm sure it will

Time flies they say, and I totally understand why. Now adays, night descends with no warning. Friday came too soon than I thought. The year is coming to end in haste. Today was scheduled as specially as a day to visit Alma's family. I wasn't a bit nervous. I was rather eager, the kind of 'Let's just get this thing done' type of eagerness.  I wiped of the beads of sweat forming on my forehead as I zoomed into the magnificent compound of Alma's family house. I could notice a bit of excitement from Alma as she waved to the gateman. Alma led me to a spacious room with rich furnishings, a portable beverage table with walls of books. "Stay here, let me go inform my family." Alma said softly, smiling at me.  "Okay, baby." I replied winking. I sat on a leather chair as Alma exited the room, I reclined on the seat, looking around the room. Pictures could be seen hanging on the walls, the corner of m
