Ten

Aubrey looked terrible when she woke up the next morning. She didn't have bags under her eyes, she didn't have make-up traces on her face, but she looked lifeless. She could not get over what Jordan had said; it was hard for her to believe that he actually said those things about her. Her mind could not process the words he uttered. She took a shower, hoping that it would help her to relax, but it was no use; she ended up crying as she showered. She dried her body, moving like a robot, then she got dressed.

Aubrey stood in front of Jordan's front door. She did not want to knock or ring the doorbell. She did not want to see him, but she knew it had to be done one way or another. She took a deep breath and rang the doorbell then waited for him to open the door. After a couple of seconds, Jordan opened the door and smiled widely when he saw her. He quickly pulled her into a hug; he needed to feel her touch against his body. She wanted to push him away so badly, but she thought that anyone might spot them together and take pictures. She needed to do everything for publicity."I'm so glad you're here," he mumbled, still holding her in his arms. He did not want to go inside. He knew that if he did, she would keep her distance."Can we get inside, please?" she asked coldly. Jordan nodded and took her inside.

Aubrey returned home after visiting Jordan. Her mind could not stop thinking about the whole act and what needed to be done. She was close to going crazy. Maria was nowhere to be seen in the apartment as she left for work an hour ago. Aubrey threw herself on the couch and turned on the TV, hoping that it would be a good source of distraction. Jordan held his phone tightly in his hands, debating whether or not to call Aubrey. It has been five days since they last went out together and he wanted to see her, but he was well aware that he was the last person she would want to see. He was almost a hundred per cent sure that he was the person she hated the most in her life. He did not want to be that person, but things got out of hand and he fell into the trap. Green. Not once had Aubrey imagined herself wearing a dress of this colour. It was a risk, but something about that dress caught her attention and pulled her towards it. She loved the lace, the simple design and the colour. The dress was screaming at her to try it, to put it on her body and to let its fabric touch her skin. She loved how it hugged her body, and she adored the off-shoulder cut with its long lace sleeves. It had been two days since the signing party. Jordan hadn't been going easy on himself. He barely slept and his eyes were puffy. He was blaming himself for all of that mess because he was sure that he was the main reason behind all of it. Had it not been for what he said, everything would've been fine between him and Aubrey. Perhaps he would have been able to ask her on a date if that didn't happen, but luck wasn't on his side. It was Aubrey's first time ever to drive that fast, but she was worried about him and she was scared that he might wake up at any moment and drive back to his place. She didn't want him to drive while he was drunk. She could not afford another loss for the same reason. She was not going to live that misery again. She was not ready to put flowers on the grave of somebody else who was dear to her. The moment she walked inside the pub, her eyes looked for the bar, doing her best to spot Jordan. Aubrey was awoken by someone furiously shaking her at nine in the morning. She groaned as she opened her eyes and looked up at whoever was shaking her; Maria was in front of her.
