I stand up on the small stage at the front of the training field and watch the group of trainees.  They have come along nicely and in such a short time.  I wish everyone would learn as fast as this group.  Well, this group has some powerful motivation.  Almost from the beginning, they have been made aware of the upcoming war, and they have all vowed to do everything that they can to keep the war from going too far. I glance next to me and smile as I stare at Don. My mate has been such a big help.  Not only did he help train this group of trainees, but he has trained the entire pack in martial arts.  Granted, the pack hasn’t had enough time to master it yet, but they have the basics down.  Plus, it is for when they are in their human form, which is something new. As I smile and staring at my mate, he slowly turns his head.  As soon as our eyes meet, a smile instantly appears on his face too.

Alpha Marcus POV “Where is my son!  He never goes out anywhere without telling me first!” What is happening lately?  I swear something is not working in my favor lately.  Not only have I lost a couple alliances with packs that I thought I had gotten at the werewolf gathering, but something has happened between the time of the gathering to now.  Even when I threaten them more, they aren’t budging.  Now, my son hasn’t been home for several days.  What is going on? With a growing anger, I glare at Caleb.  However, for some reason, he doesn’t seem to be affected like usual.  No.  If anything, he almost seems happy, but why. Caleb tries to keep the corner of his lip to curve upwards as he replies, “I’m not sure.  He just seemed to disappear, but he never said anything to me.” BAM! I slam my hand on the top of my desk.  How dare he say that he doesn’t know. 

I sit on the edge of the bed next to Kane.  He has been so tired lately.  If things don’t change soon, I’m going to have to have the pack doctor look at him.  He keeps telling me it is because he used too much energy trying to heal Tyler, but I was right there, too.  I’m not nearly as tired as he is. I look down at my mate sleeping peacefully.  He is so beautiful. A smile slowly spreads across my face as I gently brush his bangs out of his eyes and across his forehead.  It is time to get up, but I can’t bring myself to wake him. As I lean forward and kiss his forehead, I softly whisper, “Sleep, my baby.  I hope you feel better soon.”I sit upright and continue to stare at Kane’s sleeping face.  After a few moments, I get up and walk out of the bedroom.  As I walk through the living room, I call out, “Finn.  Tommy.  Keep an eye on Kane f
