➳ Pernwél   Alpha Jake waited for me on the porch to accompany me to where the Elders resided. We were walking there and he was going to show me around the town. I was not a prisoner anymore and I was staying here for the time being. Where else was I supposed to run off to?  I was somehow excited to find out more about what happened to me, but also dreading to find out the fate of my village. I witnessed a carnage, everyone I knew was slaughtered before my eyes.  The memories of the beautiful place I grew up in were tainted with the deep red colour of blood and masacre. I would never run across my ancestors' land again. Smell the flowers, touch the textures of the plants and swim in the river that coursed with smaller streams across the heart of our

🐾 Alpha Jake Grandma Rose was staring daggers at me from her little cabin. She loved to live here on the outskirts, surrounded by nature and the vast forest on the mountain.“Please, don’t call me that,” I said while I stroked the back of my neck with my palm. “I’m not 5 anymore.”For being an older pack member, you would think that things would get past her because of her age. Don’t be fooled, they don’t.Grandma Rose was already drilling me from the inside of my skull through the mindlink, asking questions about the woman admiring her garden. The mindlink gives wolves in the same pack the opportunity to share emotions and certain thoughts. We can’t have e

➳ Pernwél I never thought I would ever see one of the ancient magic orbs like the one I was currently holding.Alpha Jake and Grandma Rose were staring expectantly at me to elaborate on the ‘memory orb’ artifact and even if I knew perfectly well that I was holding one in my hands, it was the first time I ever encountered one in my life.I read about the ancient artifacts in the Royal library. They are made by druidic magic to communicate through the ages and portals with other druids. The dusty old books were always the first to attract me and I skimmed eagerly through those pages. One of those leather bound research journals showed me drawings of the various orbs to be found across all the realms. I knew this was one that held the message of

➳ Pernwél   I have always been quite observant of my surroundings, making me catch on quickly to the hidden meanings of gestures and body language.  Alpha Jake commenced telling his side of the occurrences of the last few days, leaving out some details that weren’t so clear to either of us yet. The orb and the notion of druidic magic didn’t make it into the conversation. The Elders were listening intently to their Alpha, as I hung on to his every word. He didn’t miss any details and if I noticed he omitted one, I somehow knew he had a reason behind it. He also commented on the fact that there were increased sightings of wandering rogues around the borders, culminating in an attack this morning on the East border of the pack territory.

🐾 Alpha Jake   We walked back in comfortable silence to the packhouse. It had been an eventful day to say the least, and I was starving.  I gazed down at the beautiful Elf that walked next to me. Her lovely words about my leadership as an Alpha of this pack had touched me deeply. Did she really think that way about me? After all that had happened, she had pulled her hood down and hadn’t pulled it back up to hide herself away from prying eyes. Her silver locks were dancing in the remaining light of the street lanterns. It made my heart skip a beat, that she was warming up to the pack and felt more comfortable around them. Deep down, I wanted it to mean that she was also opening up to me. The glances we shared and the slight touching of her hands as I cup

➳ Pernwél   I was baffled. I understood Jake’s explanation but the notion of there being only one out there to match perfectly with your own, was a romantic notion that didn’t quite exist where I came from. Jake was staring deeply into my eyes and as I ran through everything in my mind that had happened over the last few odd days, I certainly had felt a pull towards him. I had just asked him if I was his fated mate and he was hesitating in giving me his answer, but somehow I already knew it. We were fated mates in this Realm and the fact that the Moon Goddess put us together had a higher meaning. Even if I didn’t have a wolf spirit to connect with his one, she was under the understanding that I would complete him

➳ Pernwél   Illuminated by the moonlight, I follow the path laid out in front of me. It looks as if the trees have moved out of the way to make space, leaving roots and lifting the ground in their wake. As I kept walking through the dark forest, the snow cracked beneath my feet. Just then, I realised I’m barefoot and wearing nothing but a thin white nightgown. I can’t sense the cold feeling between my toes as the snow and ice slips around them. I should feel ice-cold by now. Strangely, I don’t feel anything except for the uncontrollable urge to keep moving. I watch out for the tree roots so I won’t trip and I’m thankful that the full moon tonight shines bright enough to be able to move further; pulled by some invisible force to keep going deeper into the forest.

➳ Pernwél   The little cabin of Grandma Rose filled up with thick smoke, it billowed from the cauldron the moment the orb touched the contents. Our vision was obscured slightly as the orb bobbed up and down in the purplish clouds. The scrolls of the ancient artifacts had described and identified the potion we were brewing, the smoke was supposed to be this color, so that was a good sign. The journal chronicled every orb ever made, describing its uses and how to unlock what was within. I had no clue what would happen next or what I was doing. I tried to recall every little detail from the instructions, hoping I had got it right. I fiddled with my fingers, clutching onto the brim of the wooden table. As the smoke kept frothing and spilling out of the cauldron,

➳ Pernwél Grandma Rose stared at me in shock. I felt baffled, to the point that I began to question every step of my life and how we had gotten to this point. It made my head spin and I took a seat on the rocking chair.“Dear?” Grandma Rose asked worriedly, gazing at me with her observant eyes. “Are you okay?”I wasn’t even sure how to answer Grandma Rose’s question. Was all of this even real? Surely I would wake up any moment and it would have been one of my nightmares. The wise older woman took a seat next to me and grabbed my hand in hers. It was oddly similar to the way that Jake had done  when I was feeling overwhelmed. It calmed my nerves but I was still ree

🐾 Alpha Jake As I got off of the phone call with Grandma Rose, worry flooded my mind.Pernwél had left this morning to go open the orb we found in the forest and now Grandma Rose was calling me to go pick her up. Something must have happened but I couldn’t tell from her voice if that something was bad or not.My wolf only knew that our mate needed us and it was enough to put my paperwork aside and bolt out of the door. I ran in my human form towards the little cabin on the outskirts of our town, not wanting to show up naked at my Grandma’s doorstep. Even though nudity was something normal between shifters, I still had a need for decency around my last living relative and new found mate.I ar
