Chapter Forty-Six
“Do you want us to go inside with you?” Kane asked, worried that she might fly off the handle. “No. Whatever happened isn’t good. We can’t draw attention to Marco being with us either. Just stay here with him.” She said, getting out of the car and slamming the door shut. “She looks mad....” Marco whispered as he unbuckled and leaned forward watching her march into the school with a scowl on her face. “Yeah… It probably wasn’t a good idea to let her go in alone….” Kane mumbled.  When Bridgette walked inside the office she was surprised to find Ms. Willson, Mrs. Anderson, Mr. Jefferson, Sammy’s new teacher, and a very angry looking parent all waiting f

Bridgette didn’t stay around to watch the rest. She stormed out of Ms. Willson’s office, slamming the door behind her. As soon as her eyes landed on the woman all thought left her mind. She pounced on her raining down punches on the screaming woman’s face. She was seeing red as she screamed at her. Her rage blinding her to everything else around her. “How dare you fucking hit her!” She screamed between punches. “How dare you hold her in place and let someone hit her!” The police were so surprised it took them a moment to realize what was happening. A very angry parent had seen a teacher put their hands on their child and even encouraged someone to hit her. They could understand her anger towards the woman but they still needed to break up the fight. “

Chapter Forty-Eight
“I’m pressing charges. You know as well as I do she instigated the whole thing. Those other girls would have never taken it further than pushing and shoving. I don’t know what she said and I don’t care. I don’t know how her mother is raising her but it’s definitely not the right way. Sammy has always been taught not to harm others but at the same time I don’t want her to be seen as weak and let others walk all over her either.” “Okay. You’re free to go.” He said, handing her a card. “If you have any questions this is my number.” “Thanks.” Bridgette said, taking his card and going back to the car.  When they pulled up to the house Bridgette panicked for a moment before Kane’s hand on her arm

Chapter Forty-Nine
Digger watched the young woman go inside the house as he swore up and down internally. He found the way she had stood up to him arousing. With a frustrated groan he climbed on his bike vowing to one day have a taste of the woman occupying the land.Bridgette stood at her desk watching the screens with a frown as Digger climbed on his bike. She heaved a sigh of relief when she saw him pull away. Her legs buckled and she sagged into her chair as fear began to suddenly over take her. She hated that he could still make her whole being tremble with fear. She was currently bent over and trying to get her breathing under control when Kane and Marco came into her office in search of her. “Hey.” Kane whispered, running over to her. “What happened? Whe

Chapter Fifty
“I thought… didn’t we take care of that already?” She asked, looking up at her. “We told him what we had to tell him so that he wouldn’t react badly in public. We’re in private now. He needs to know the truth.” “Bridgette, what? Why would you tell him the truth?” Dex demanded in surprise. “Bridgette’s right. That boy has seen enough to know that people die. He might not remember but he’d appreciate it better than us lying to him. You can give him the same story that the police will spin about her dying in an accident but he needs to know the truth instead of growing up thinking people just keep abandoning  him.” Kane said. “You two can’t be seriou

Chapter Fifty-One
With a heavy heart she marched up the stairs and into the playroom where she found him occupied with some toys. Bridgette sighed with a heavy heart as she watched him play. He probably wouldn’t have anything to do with anyone for a while and her heart was breaking when she thought about his smile dimming even just a little bit. “Hey, Marco.” She said, softly, leaning against the door jamb. “Hey, Bridge! This room is awesome!” He said, giving her a toothy grin. “I’m glad you like it, kiddo, but I need to talk to you about something…” She said, sadly. “Okay.” He said nervously. “Come let’s go talk in your room…&rd

A/N: This chapter has some very graphic and violent scenes. Look for the **** If you want to skip ahead feel free to do so.  Bernard Shaw paced back and forth in his office. He stared at the series of text messages that had started coming in on his phone. With a maniacal chuckle he threw his cell phone against the wall. He walked down  to the cells where he had left Mateo and Isa to stew for a week. He still hadn’t touched her, not in the way he wanted but it was still enough to torment Mateo.  ***** Bernard threw open the cell door and watched as Isa’s head snapped up at him with defiance. Mateo glared at him as Bernard walked into the cell. “How are my two favorite prisoners?” He asked, grinning at them.

Chapter Fifty-Four
Bridgette and Athena were seated in her office when an alert pinged on her cell phone. She looked up from the papers on her desk with a frown. That alert was specified for when something mentioning Bernard Shaw’s name appeared on the dark web. Her hands began to break out in a nervous sweat and her face went pale as she put the papers aside. She knew that whatever it was it had to be important. The last one had been a week ago. Whatever he was doing had to be important enough for him to be mentioned more than once in such a short time. “Are you okay?” Athena asked, looking at her with concern. “Yeah. Look, go spend some time with Marco. Maybe get some hot chocolate.” She mumbled to herself. Athena watched her warily for a moment before nodding her head in reply. As soo

“What is it?” Bridgette asked, standing straight up. “It’s that guy…” She whispered. “Which one?” She asked. “One of the ones you told me to run if I saw…” She whispered, trembling where she stood. “Athena, take them upstairs.” Bridgette growled, shoving away from the counter. “What are you going to do?” She asked, worried that they had found them. “Don’t worry about it.” She said, stalking to the door. As soon as she was sure that they were upstairs and out of sight Bridgette smoothed
