Chapter Forty One
My head trembled. "Bicyclists aren't all terrible, Peter. These individuals need assistance, and we decided to assist Mayette. Here, we may kill two birds with one stone. Everyone comes out ahead. We'll spend the evening assessing them, and if we determine they're nice, we'll propose they proceed into town to locate her."While thinking about it, he nibbled his lower lip. "I'm not convinced, Clementia. I believe we should just leave these individuals on their way. I understand you want to assist everyone you can, but it's not worth risking our lives."I glanced to Ricky and Justine, who had been mostly silent. "What are your thoughts about this?""I'm right there with you, Clementia," Diana said. "I believe we should assist them. If we discover anything useful, we may return this route if we go straight to the cottage. And there is no such thing as having too many friends. Who's to say we won't need them again?"Ricky

Chapter Forty Two
When I awoke in the morning, the very first image I saw was Justine's arm wrapped around my waistline. I could feel his warmth on my back and his abdomen pushing on me as it gradually goes up and down with each breath he takes. He was snoozing quietly in my ear, which I didn't really mind at all. It's really sort of reassuring since it means Justine was getting those much relaxations and naps. I'm shocked he came to bed at all, much alone into my bed. After our conversation last night, it seems like we could be bound to remain at odds for the foreseeable future. But he doesn't seem to be furious anymore, since he's wrapped up so securely with me. I'm not sure whether he thought about it all night and eventually viewed things my way, or if he apparently decided it didn't make a difference and needed some consolation.I don't mind either way. He's here with me, and I planned to take advantage of the situation. I jerked my head around, cautious not to disturb Justine's slumber, and realiz

Chapter Forty Three
Justine scrunched his nose against my collarbone and planted a little kiss there. I whimpered in his embrace, and he teased and gnawed on the delicate point, taking care not to affect the skin. He nibbled harder, and I'm confident it left a mark. The prospect of his marking me thrills me more than anything else, and I ran my fingers through his disheveled dark hair, drawing his head further and deeper, silently urging him to be extremely hard. There was a knock on the door, and Justine made a growling sound in the bottom and depths of his windpipe.  "Someone better be deceased," he murmured to me. He became more agitated. "Hey, get out!"  "Teddy and his friends wanted their equipment back so they can go," Diana said. "Peter instructed me to come and inform you. Do you want us to put a halt to them so you may speak with them about Mayette?"  "I'll manage it," he said st

Author's Note
Hi there everyone!   I hope you're having a nice weekend ahead of you. I've been writing this story and I know to myself that there are a lot of typographical errors, as well as grammatical errors, and inconsistencies.  I know you're all a better good judge, and I am apologizing in advance for all those errors. But I am trying my best to give out smooth, better and at the same time exciting chapters each time I upload. Also, just a disclaimer that all the settings, characters used, and time were all mainly fictional. If you're reading some of the settings I included in my story was realistic, I did that on purpose. But most of the time, all of the names of places I've written were purely fictional.    Anyway, I hope you guys support my story and enjoy reading my zombie novel. If you do, don't forget to comment and send me a gem whenever you like! Thank you guys and I love you all.

Chapter Forty Four
We sat inside the car in complete stillness. Peter had declined to sit in the front and assist with navigation, so he's in the backseat her together with Diana, and I'm up front with the map unfurled over my thighs. I'm not certain how to use an old school chart, although I know how to use a map; my sister's old vehicle had navigation and we still took a wrong turn, but Justine was kind and highlighted whatever I didn't completely grasp.  He and Peter haven't spoken anything to each other since the parking garage, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I know Peter has always been the most skeptical of our goal to find a cure, but he's been going much too far. He's now compromising Justine's dominance, even if it's not his intention. I'm pleased Justine didn't approach him since doing so would have squandered even more time and maybe sparked a brawl that would have torn our group apart. Despite the fact that Peter was being outrag

Justine gave a shaky nod. I supposed he wanted to convince me I'm mistaken, but he doesn't because he actually understands it ain't going to help him. Either that, or he's realizing that not everyone in our group was as tough as he was.  Diana was already frail, and he and I both understand she does not have to overhear him sounding so pretty bleak and terrible. "Perhaps we should halt for the evening. We won't be able to keep up this speed for much longer. Diana's feet were already in poor condition. If we continue like this, we will have to carry her the rest of the period."  He scowled as he stared at Diana.  "We haven't even gotten that far," he said. "In dry heat, I've gone significantly further in one straight, with seventy pounds of equipment tethered to my shoulders."  I almost smiled broadly. "Diana was a schoolgirl, not a seasoned like-Navy officer like you. She can't

Chapter Forty Six
Justine stepped away from the shore and started strolling down the river's breadth. I kept a tight eye on him, as I usually seemed to be doing. Ricky groaned behind me while he scooped up his baggage and started following. Because there's too much snow on the ground to crackle under our feet and stick to our hair, I'm certain his backpack was damp.  I'm amazed there's not enough frost on the riverbank, but it presumably happened too quickly for that to develop this slightly earlier during the year. By the month of December, we'd definitely be able to simply stroll over and save ourselves a large amount of time and work. However, the last thing we needed was for one of us to stumble on the frozen ground.  We went down the riverside, getting somewhere further and further away from the point where we emerged from the trees, and eventually lost sight of the concealed trail. I'm not sure how we'd locate thi

Chapter Forty Seven
We'll never learn and tell if she indeed made the correct choice, but I'm grateful Diana was still with us, even though our lives were at risk at the time. We probably wouldn't be able to swerve to avoid them indefinitely, and if we don't reach this destination soon, we'll be dead. Diana would die from frostbite, while the remaining of us will most undoubtedly be mauled to death and ripped to shreds. At the very least, if we don't take things into our own hands first.  Justine's hand was on my shoulders, like it often was, pulling me ahead. It's a gentle, consistent reminder to keep moving no matter what and to don't ever take a gander back. It reminded me of a painful argument we had too many months earlier about just what I should do if something happened to Justine.  Never, ever keep looking back.  I'm not as stupid or naïve as some people actually believe. I'v

Chapter Forty Eight
Dr. Melendez escorted us through a labyrinth of corridors that bore witness to the atrocities that had occurred outdoors. The once-beige-colored brickwork had been painted crimson in numerous places, and groups of insects swarmed around some of the complete darkness, dispersing as we managed to pass but immediately having to return to their feast. Dr. Melendez ignored them and provided no comments nor any information on the several rooms we passed in the halls. He merely walked with his head held high and a tiny hurry in his movements, almost as if he's pleased to take us wherever we're heading to.  This corridor made me feel uneasy. Just by looking at the discolored ceilings and walls, it's obvious that most people ended up dead in this exact place. Whatever occurred here happened a long time ago, but it doesn't leave me feeling any more at ease or at comfortable. If someone died here, there's a strong possibility that the deceased we

We accompanied him out the doorway and down the corridor. Justine was assisting Diana in walking, while Peter was assisting Ricky in a little way since he had also wounded himself when attempting to rescue Diana. They both seemed to be in horrible form, particularly Diana's feet, which were patched up and bleeding from all the wounds she had. She wanted a comfortable bed to sleep off the happenings of the day, and she hoped that tomorrow would be better for both of them. For the remaining of us, as well.  We exited the laboratory section of the structure and entered the residential quarters. It's unusual to watch the area to get beyond chilly and unapproachable to warmer and inviting, but I'm delighted to see it. These corridors were well lit, and the air was much warmer. There's still blood all over the place, and even though they've been cleaned white, I could still see the decomposed body laying there.
