MARE: I scream, but the surge of water into my system shuts me up. I'm plunged beneath the surface again and all sounds drown out. The water is dark around me and the deeper I go, the lesser my eyes work. I struggle to swim up again, but the force pulling me down is great. It's worse because I can't figure out what it is. I thrash my legs violently and when my head shoots over the surface, I suck in as much air as I can. The metal door is just an arm's stretch away. I pluck out the key from beneath my tongue and shove it into the lock, begging my luck to shine this once. I can't just break it open, because then he'll know. "Come on." I mutter into the deafening silence surrounding me. "Come on." My shaking hands are not even helping matters. I will and will the door to budge, but it still doesn't. My wolf panics within me. She thinks we are going to die and I do too. I'm plunged underwater again and this time, the force is something I can't fight. They say I have far greater abi

Frida's voice is in my head, haunting me with the truth. Tuiren gave her answer. I'm with Zeke's child, and now it feels more real. Running away is like a taboo because I can't deal with this alone. I will need help and I'm not planning to keep the child for myself. It makes sense to stay and let him have it once the duration elapses. But even my thoughts are scaring me more than death itself. She's staring at me with that apologetic gaze, and I still dislike it. This has nothing to do with her. I'm grateful she confided in me about her sister's death and let me know exactly what I was dealing with. If it wasn't for her, Zeke would've kept me in the dark all along. My voice cracks from the shock. "Frida, this is my fate. It's not your fault. Listen to me—" As I'm speaking, footsteps approach. I see Frida's attention shift to our guest. After a minute, the figure stands between our cells, and I see Zeke's tall frame. He's alone and his brows are drawn together with rage. I'm still

ZEKE: My feet can't carry me fast enough. I storm through the halls with my staff in one hand. Nothing dares block my path to the pack doctor's lair. I can't believe she was right under him and he let this happen. Anger and fear mix inside me and the result is something I dislike. Taz bows to me but refuses to meet my gaze. I'm scowling at him because he knows he has messed up big time. "How bad is she?" I ask as he follows, walking behind me. "I arrived a few minutes ago. It seems she's been like that for three days." A pang strikes hard in my chest. I clench my jaw and move even faster. Marelyn is in danger. My child as well, and it's all my fault. I climb down the long stairs and dive into the aisle between the cells. Drusila is already with her, and I avoid her gaze even as I approach. I know what she will say. This was all on me. If Marelyn hadn't been so stubborn, none of this would have happened. Her cell comes into view and I see her lying there unconscious. The smell of

They've not harmed me yet. It can only mean there's something they want from me. I'm fixed between Dawn and Coral in the back seat of a black sedan and where they are taking me, I can't tell. Fear slinks up my spine. I'm scared, and I can only hope Zeke notices I've been kidnapped. He has to save me because he's the only one powerful enough to do so. I just hope he will not abandon me like my family did, or like Chase did. Coral keeps her gaze stuck on the view outside the window. I find her white shoulder-length hair pretty, but eerie. She covers it with a chic dark brown hat. I think, of the three, the only one I'm wary of is Bessie, the redhead who's occupying the passenger seat. She's mean. I can tell. Her heart of stone is visible through her grey eyes, and you don't even have to look that close to see it. Suddenly, Dawn breaks the silence within the car. Her light brown eyes turn to me and I hold my breath. "You're safe now. Trust us, Marelyn. No one will ever harm you ag

ZEKE: My world spins off course. Hours after the show and she's still missing. I let her slip away from my hold and the mare thought of that is ruining me. I can't think straight. My wolves have searched everywhere for her. They've raided the territories of all of Moon Grove's enemies, including hunters, but I still can't find her. The more time passes, the more danger she will be in. Her sudden disappearance had me using our pregnancy as an excuse on live TV. The entire world knows I'm expecting a baby a little too early. This isn't how I meant everything to go down. I clutch the side of my head and pull at my roots. I'm in my study and the next thing I know; I swipe off the contents on my desk, shoving them to the floor. My palms support me on the desk as I breathe hard. I sense her presence before she speaks. "Zeke, I think we are looking in the wrong direction," Drusila says. She doesn't have to tell me. I realized it the second my wolf, Aiden, came with the news after reques
